AN: Well it's been almost three years since I've updated this fic. Shame on me. I've decided to try not to be so picky about my writing and just get it out there. I'd love to finish this fic before the brand new Gilmore Girls mini-series airs (on Netflix?) We'll see how that goes. ;)

Please read and review. It keeps my stamina up and helps me stay interested in writing.

3.04 One's Got Class and the Other One Dyes

Now, Jess wasn't shy, regarding chit-chat
But since he kept quiet, it might seem like that.
It's just that his tongue could somewhat be lazy,
Since small talk was boring and drove him so crazy!

His life had been spent in one certain practice:
To keep temper pointed as prickly cactus.
His asocial ways kept others at bay.
He'd not known, nor cared, the things he should say.

With Rory it worked. The spoken word came,
Since Rory it seemed was one and the same:
Society's standards for speech they weren't needing.
She spoke Jess's lingo when spoke they of reading.

But now it was done. She'd shown disregard.
She cared not for Jess. His heart he should guard.
So why now should Jess show her any grace?
Instead he'd keep distance of more than a pace.

And now enter Shane, as Jess's girlfriend.
His hermit-like rules, he set out to bend,
Since Shane, it did seem, was also the same.
She also despised society's game.

A new world was this, which Jess could explore,
Since he'd never had a girlfriend before.
Of knowledge, possessed he the lowest degree.
The tally of prospects he'd known totalled three.

The first girl he'd kissed (the only, in fact,
'Til Rory, then Shane, had rectified that)
Was one Lisa Cutler, at Kyle Cutler's place.
But Lisa's cool friends thought Jess a disgrace.

Yet Shane sought him out, whatever the reason.
Perhaps she'd just found that a kiss was in-season.
She cared not that Jess was rather uncouth
And looked for, instead, a more simple truth.

The very best part of Shane's each arrival
Was that she cared more than did would-be rival.
While Rory would come in to eat there most days,
Shane came to see him, with eyes all-ablaze.

That Rory was cold in her treatment of him!
She wanted his service but all else was grim.
(The pain of it was, if something would change,
Well, he'd still, for her, his plans rearrange.)

But Jess would be strong and show he'd moved on
And, when she was near, on Shane he would fawn.
Shane's kisses, 'twas true, could leave him quite breathless
And, for more than that, they'd render him restless.

And Shane deserved more than just a long glance.
She looked real alluring in bell-bottom pants.
Today she wore pigtails to dress her short curls
And Jess was attracted to those light-blonde swirls.

And now, in his room, her neck did she tip
In such a fine way that he bit his lip
To curb the desire that welled up inside,
Ere chose he to throw his caution aside.

Jess pulled her up closer and covered her mouth
With soft torrid kisses that soon ventured south
Along that fine neck to meet collarbone.
And he was so happy that they were alone.

While Shane put her hands 'round back of his waist
And nudged at the hem that, there, had been placed,
Jess took it a sign and held her still closer
And, leaning a bit, the two tumbled over.

She nervously giggled and started to slow.
"It's not like we're gonna go that far, you know.
Some kissing and stuff, I figure is fine.
But anything more and I must draw the line."

Yet she was the first to undo a button.
But Jess, for this task, became soon a glutton.
His fingers were nimble as any magician
And undid her shirt with ample precision.

His kisses subsided as he drew apart
The halves of her shirt tails, away from her heart.
And then his eyes feasted on beautiful chest
And his first real glimpse of lace-covered breast.

Of course he'd seen breasts in certain good movies,
Since Jess was no stranger to mags and to nudies.
But Jess swallowed hard. His mouth got much wetter.
To see them in person was really much better!

Now all that remained was removing the lace
And rounding the corner that marked second base.
He perched a split-second behind starting gate.
The next of his moves he paused to debate.

His nerves she exposed (as she was to him).
The chance to be clumsy was present, though slim.
Her lips he then kissed, to shelter his face.
His hand, on her breast, he set out to place.

Then, outside the room, noise came up the stairs:
His uncle's replies to Lorelai's blares.
And Jess and Shane both jumped up from his bed,
Since for a detection they rather did dread.

Though, if he were asked, reply he'd express
That chance to be seen would cause no distress,
The truth was that, really, he deathly despised
That actions, to others, be so advertised.

Jess mustn't be seen by Rory's shrewd mother
While in such a state with a half-naked other!
And Shane was, likewise, sent into a panic
And both of their actions became rather manic.

So, quickly, they tried to do up her shirt
But buttons, while nervous, were hard to insert.
The time for this task the two were denied
So she scooted off to quickly go hide.

So, into the closet, Shane swiftly did dance
And left Jess alone to straighten his pants.
And just in that moment his uncle came in
And Lorelai too, bringing her din.

Jess grabbed for a book, the first he could find
And tried to pass off that he gave it his mind.
Then, into a chair, he sank with the beating
Of his harried heart and cheeks that were heating.

While kept his pulse time with heart's own percussion,
Jess hastened to hitherto foster discussion.
And then came a sound as some item tumbled
And Jess knew that Shane regrettably stumbled.

As Lorelai watched him, his pulse set to race.
He thought then that, clearly, she read well his face.
He thought she was judging him for his affair.
But Jess had objections that that wasn't fair!

She held no dominion above all his actions
She'd no right to speak of his interactions.
And Jess wondered why he even should care
It wasn't as though her own daughter were there!

But she remained cool and gave no rebuke
And shortly thereafter she set off with Luke.
Jess listened to footfalls that descended down
'Til distance, the sound, in silence did drown.

And when it was safe, to closet he raced.
A kiss upon Shane he suddenly placed.
She giggled as he, towards closet, pushed.
While smirking, objections from Shane he then shushed.

He wasn't quite sure what he had been doing
But she was still laughing so humour was brewing.
He only felt like this indulgence he'd cosset.
Seven Minutes in Heaven was played in a closet.

But Shane, on his chest, a push did impact.
Then slid she around him, herself, to extract.
Then, contact with him, she steadfastly broke.
With gesture at clock, she solidly spoke,

"I'd like to keep kissing, Jess, really I would.
But turns out right now, the timing's no good.
My co-worker, Kirk, is off building bowers.
I have to fill in for one or two hours."

So since they'd cut short their afternoon's plans,
He took his own matters into his own hands
And settled he down to take a short nap
To fill time apart, an hour's lonely gap.

Then, later that day, Jess sat in a chair
And tried for the moment to, at TV, stare.
He held up the phone to weariest ear
So Shane's silky voice he just slightly could hear.

His girlfriend was stubborn as now she discussed
The button she'd lost, but he was nonplussed.
She said it came off in all their confusion
But Jess sought to bring this talk to conclusion.

"The whole of my floor I've already swept
And down on my knees I've already crept.
Now listen real closely. I want you to hear.
I don't think the button was lost around here!"

This wording did Shane seem, at last, to accept
Since to a new topic she finally leapt.
The two then discussed their plans for the night
And when she said "bloaty" it tickled his spite.

The two gathered later to go for a walk
And Jess hoped it wouldn't involve too much talk.
He led her off west to the Town Founders' park,
In hopes the locale would more making-out spark.

Their route dared to cross the path of two teens,
With one being whom Jess, by any means,
Did not wish to see nor pass on this day.
He kept to himself with no words to say.

But Shane, as they passed, did sullenly speak.
She gestured to Rory with, "That girl's a freak."
Then Jess's pulse pounded to think up the cause
That had Shane and Rory now baring their claws.

Suspected he, now, that Rory had done
Something to Shane that hatred had spun.
And maybe that meant that Rory did feast
On envy of Shane. He hoped so at least.

The way that she'd treated him earned what she'd got.
Some eating her heart out would suit her, he thought.
Jess gave her a look that withered a bit
And her eyes' reply did anger befit.

The staring continued a little bit more
'Til everyone there knew what was the score
'Til Jess put his hand aside shoulder of Shane
And guided her off down the sidewalk again.

And Lane offered Rory, in manner mild-tempered,
Support bittersweet, since still she remembered
How Jess, in the past, had quite clear a crush
And Rory, for him, at one time did gush.

(But nothing had happened between them since then,
And Rory did seem to love Dean again,
So Lane had long-since discarded the thought
That some other choice would be Rory's plot.)

Then, "Hmmm," Clotho murmured. She settled on cloud.
Lachesis demanded her thoughts be out loud.
"The grudge 'tween those two nears toxicity."
She gestured to pair steeped in hostility.

I see that you're right," Lachesis replied.
"The bad blood between them cannot be denied.
Perhaps there is something our magic can do."
The Sisters then sat and started to stew.
