"Should we tell Sam," Lily asked, "or should we wait until the doctor confirms it."
"I think we should tell him... I just need a few minutes."
Dean sat in a plush chair in the corner of the bedroom and pulled Lily to stand in front of him. He ran a hand over her stomach before placing a kiss there, through her shirt. When he looked up and saw tears in her eyes, he would have been worried if it weren't for the smile on her lips. He pulled her into his lap with her legs hanging over the arm of the chair. She let a hand rest against his chest while he kissed her.
"Oh," Dean said, suddenly pulling away, "Charlie says, 'hi.'"
"Charlie? Bradbury?"
"Yep. We ran into her on the case we stopped to work on the way home. She asked where you were. I didn't care too much for the smile she had when she said your name."
"Still jealous, Dean?"
"I don't know what you're talking about," he said playfully.
Lily sat up and straddled Dean's lap. "You don't, huh?"
"Not a clue."
"Well, that's good, 'cause you have nothing to be jealous about." She gently kissed him, and let her tongue slide over his bottom lip. "Not Charlie... not anybody. I'm all yours. I have been for a long time. And now... a part of you is inside of me."
Dean put his hands to her face and pulled her into another kiss. She began to grind her hips against his, and a low moan escaped his throat. They both groaned when there was a knock on the door.
"What?" Dean called out.
"Kevin has something," Sam said through the door. "You should come out here."
"Rain check," Dean said to Lily with a grin.
She kissed him once more before she got up. Dean stood and followed her out of the room. They found Kevin and Sam sitting at the kitchen table.
"So, what's up?" Dean asked.
"I figured out how to close the Gates of Hell," Kevin said with a smile.
"Seriously?" Lily asked.
"Yep."
Dean walked over to Kevin and practically lifted him out of his chair into a hug. "Come here, you son-of-a-bitch."
"Okay," Sam said. "So, what does this mean? What are we looking at?
"It's a spell. It's just a few words of Enochian, but it has to be spoken after you finish each of the three trials. The tablet says, 'Whosoever chooses to undertake these tasks should fear not danger, nor death, nor...' a word I think means getting your spine ripped out through your mouth for all eternity."
"Good times," Dean said. "Alright. Where do we start?
"I've only been able to crack one of the tests so far, and it's gross. You've got to kill a hound of hell and bathe in its blood."
"Awesome," Dean said.
"Awesome?" Lily asked.
"Yeah. Hey, if this means icing all demons, I got no problem gutting some devil dog and letting Calgon take me away."
"Where are you gonna find one?" Kevin asked.
"Well, Hellhounds like to collect on crossroads deals. So, all we gotta do is track down some loser who signed over his special sauce ten years ago... get between him and Clifford the big dead dog. Easy.
"Doesn't sound easy," Kevin said.
"It's not," Sam and Lily replied at the same time.
"How hard could it be?" Dean asked.
"Do you even know how to kill a hell hound, Dean?" Lily asked.
"That's what research is for."
"So, no. You don't. Hell hounds rip people apart on a daily basis. It's dangerous. It was bad enough before when you charged into a situation without a plan, but now?"
"You're right," Dean said, taking her hand. "We'll figure it out before we make a move."
"I'm sorry," Sam said, "what's different now?"
Dean and Lily smiled at each other. Dean nodded and Lily turned to Sam and Kevin.
"We were gonna tell you guys anyway... I'm pregnant."
"Pregnant?" Sam repeated.
"It's not doctor official yet, but I took three tests. All positive."
Sam went to Lily and pulled her into a tight embrace, lifting her off the ground and twirling her around. "That's great!" Once Lily was back on her feet, Sam hugged Dean, clapping him firmly on his back. "Congratulations, brother."
"Thanks, man."
"Congratulations, guys," Kevin said.
"Hey, Kev," Dean said, "you said something to me once about Lily... and I asked you not to say it to her. Do you remember?"
Lily's eyes shifted between Dean and Kevin as Kevin seemed to think. She wondered what he could have said, and why Dean would be bringing it up.
"I remember," Kevin said.
"Why don't you go ahead and tell her now. It's okay."
"I said you'd make a great mom. You were ordering us all around and you had that mom tone," Kevin said with a smile.
Lily felt tears fill her eyes. She wrapped her arms around Kevin in a tight hug. "Thank you."
"Okay," Dean said as they all sat down again. "So, obviously Lily will be staying here while we do this."
"Says who?" Lily questioned.
"Says the baby growing inside of you. My baby... who I plan to protect any way I can."
"You're right," she said. "I'm sorry. I'll stay."
Dean grabbed her hand and whispered. "I just want to make sure you and the baby are safe."
"You don't have to explain. I know. I'm sorry."
"Don't apologize."
A tear slipped down Lily's cheek. She knew the pregnancy would bring back memories and feelings of losing the baby, but she didn't think it would hurt so much. Hearing Dean talk about keeping the baby safe brought back the guilt she felt, not only over losing the baby, but over keeping the fact that she was pregnant from Dean. He would never know just how bad she felt.
"Kev," Dean said, "anything in that tablet about how to kill a hell hound."
"I can look."
"Awesome. In the meantime, Sam and I will look for signs of people who have deals coming due. We'll have to hit the road so we'll be ready when Kevin finds how to kill them."
"That sounds like a plan," Sam said.
Lily sighed. "I don't like you being on the road indefinitely, but if that's what will work, then I'm on board."
"Good."
"I'll go grab my laptop," Sam said.
Dean followed Sam out of the kitchen. "Hey," he whispered. "Do you mind looking for the first one alone tonight? I did just find out I'm gonna be a dad, you know?"
"Go ahead, man," Sam said with a smile. "I got this."
"Thanks."
Lily walked out behind Kevin and Dean grabbed her arm. "Where you goin'?"
"To help Kevin."
"Not tonight, you're not."
"You're getting awfully bossy, Winchester."
"I think you'll like my orders, though."
Neither of them saw as Sam nudged Kevin into the study. Dean scooped Lily up and carried her into the bedroom. He gently lay her on the bed and removed her clothes as his hands and lips roamed all over her body. His clothes followed and he hovered over her as he kissed down her neck and chest. He paused at her stomach and placed several kisses there.
"Hey, in there," he said. "You might wanna cover your ears for awhile while daddy loves on mommy."
Lily laughed. "I don't think the baby can hear yet, Dean."
"Well, just to be safe."
