Hunter had spent the past hour planning details of his lunch meeting with Stephanie, there was so much that he needed to say to her but he didn't know how much she would actually allow him to say.
With roughly forty five minutes to go before he was due to meet Stephanie Hunter decided to run out and buy in lunch so he could give her things she liked, or well used to like anyway, her tastes may have changed but he wanted to put the effort in and show her that he remembered what she used to like.
On his way towards the exit he spotted Trish who immediately flagged him down, "where are you going? You do remember that you're meeting with Steph at one right? If you miss this meeting I will kill you never mind Steph doing it."
Laughing Hunter shook his head, "trust me I will not forget this meeting, I have so much I need to say to her that the fact that she is giving me this one small opportunity to hopefully say it all to her without Mikey being around so I can be honest with her means a lot to me. I'm just going out to pick up some stuff she used to like and I'm hoping she still does like it because I want to prove to her that I haven't forgotten any of it."
Looking at him oddly Trish couldn't quite put a finger on what the hell was going on with him, "I hope you don't mind me asking but what the hell has happened to you? You're so . . . so . . ."
Hunter attempted to fill in the blank for her, "nice?"
Nodding vigorously that was exactly what she was thinking, "yes. Don't take this the wrong way but you've been a bit of a asshole ever since the two of you split up and she left the WWE and within a week of her being back you have done this complete one eighty, why?"
Shrugging his shoulders Hunter didn't even know for certain what had caused the change but he did have a small idea but he wasn't willing to share it, "I don't know."
"Well may I be as bold as to suggest that you've realised what you had, what you lost and you just want her back so you're turning over a much needed new leaf to attempt to win her back."
Sighing heavily she was probably right seeing as that was what he was thinking too, "maybe. I don't think she'll ever take me back though despite the fact that it should be me that is the one forgiving her after what she did and she should be the one attempting to win me back if she wants me. I'm now man enough to admit some stuff but I don't know if she is willing to hear it."
Despite it not entirely being her place to say this she felt that she needed to give Hunter a prod in the right direction, "you're not the only one who has been keeping a secret."
Frowning Hunter completely missed Trish's point, "I've not been keeping any secrets."
"I disagree. You still love her don't you? You haven't told her you still love her have you?"
Slowly he shook his head, "no."
"Then you are keeping a secret from her. You need to get going though if you are going to be back in time for your meeting with Steph. All I can say is good luck, be honest and keep that violent temper of yours in check."
Looking at her suspiciously he couldn't quite work out from her facial expression why he would need to keep his temper in check, "what do you know that I don't?"
Patting him gently on the shoulder she walked past him not willing to even dignify that with an answer, "bye Hunter."
Turning around he stared at Trish's retreating figure, now he was convinced that Stephanie was keeping something from him and the only things he felt that it could be were bad things and he wasn't sure if he even wanted to know what it was.
Running his hands over his hair he sighed softly, maybe doing all of this was a bad idea, maybe he would have just been better off continuing to deny that he still loved her and just avoided her as much as he possibly could. It was too late now though, he was in far too deep to back out now. Resisting the urge to punch the nearest wall out of frustration he continued his journey out of the arena to pick up some lunch.
As much as she didn't want to have the little meeting with Hunter Stephanie knew she couldn't bail on it so had to turn up. Keeping an eye on the time she reluctantly decided with twenty minutes to go before she met him that she should head back to her office, "come on Mikey. We need to go back to the office so you're ready for Trish to pick you up."
Stopping what he was doing Mikey ran to the ropes and with the help of Jericho climbed through them.
Whilst Jericho was helping Mikey out of the ring he looked down at Stephanie who appeared to be incredibly nervous, "where is Trish taking Mikey?"
Mikey lifted his head to look at Jericho, "lunch, we has a date and so does Mommy."
Turning to watch as Stephanie lifted Mikey down from the apron he had a small smirk on his face, "you have a date do you Steph? With who? Or maybe I already know that answer."
Before Stephanie had chance to answer Mikey said, "Hunter."
Jericho laughed, "I knew it."
Lifting her gaze to Jericho she rolled her eyes, "shut up." Turning to Mikey she gently pushed him towards the ramp, "come on Mikey, we don't want to be late for Trish."
Ten minutes and multiple diversions later Stephanie finally was able to walk back into her office only to see Trish sat in her chair waiting for them, "sorry we're late."
Standing up from the chair Trish walked around the desk only for Mikey to run straight into her legs hugging her tightly, "it's okay. I was starting to think you'd skipped town leaving everything behind in your panic to get away from Hunter."
Stephanie laughed, "as tempting as that is I don't think it would go down well with my Mom. I just have to give him ten minutes so he can say his piece and then the two of us can move on."
Biting down on her lip nervous Trish blurted out, "together."
Glaring at Trish Stephanie shook her head, "don't say stupid stuff like that in front of Mikey."
Mikey lifted his head at the sound of his name, "who's to-ge-ver?"
Shaking her head at Trish before she turned her attention to her son Stephanie sighed softly, "nobody is, Trish is being silly."
Trish laughed at Stephanie, "I think your Mommy is the one being silly. Come on though Mikey, we've got to leave your Mommy so she can have her meeting with Hunter."
Mikey smiled brightly at his Mom, "bye Mommy."
Stephanie laughed at her son, "bye Mikey. Be good for Trish otherwise no more getting in the ring." Turning her attention to Trish she sighed, "if he misbehaves then bring him back, don't worry about Hunter, I will handle it."
Rolling her eyes Trish shook her head, "there's no getting out of this one. Me and Mikey will be fine, we will have a fantastic lunch with Lita and Jerky and anybody else who cares to join us and then we will come back here and I can get all of the gossip."
Pointing towards the door she shook her head, "just leave already before he gets here and I bottle it."
Smirking Trish ruffled Mikey's hair, "go and say goodbye to your Mom."
Running over to his Mom he hugged her tightly, "bye Mommy."
Hugging her son she pressed a soft kiss to the top of his head, "I love you baby boy. Be good for Trish and I'll see you after lunch."
Lifting his head he smiled, "I miss 'oo."
Framing his face with her hands she blinked back the tears that were threatening to fall, "I'll miss you too."
Seeing that Stephanie was getting emotional Trish patted Mikey's shoulder, "we'd better hurry before all of the good food is taken."
His eyes widened and he panicked slightly, "bye Mommy." Grabbing hold of Trish's hand he pulled her towards the door.
Allowing herself to be pulled towards the door she turned back to look at Stephanie and mouthed, "if he hurts you I will kill him."
Smiling softly she wiped at the tear that fell down her cheek, she felt better knowing that someone had her back because she felt like she needed the strength for whatever was about to come her way.
