Elenwen POV
"Madam Ambassador!" an Altmer shouted as he ran into the room, before staring at the scene before him and freezing in place. "Should I come back later?"
"No, no," she sighed, pulling herself of Resh, who seemed more than a little pissed off at the interruption, "What is it you want?"
"We found some woman snooping around outside the party area, we're not really sure what to do about it, and she said to talk to you," the Thalmor agent still looked fairly uneasy with the giant of a man glaring at him. "Also she started jabbering on about a 'Resh' and how he's clever and can help her out. What should we do?"
Groaning Resh knew just who it was, she had one job, and she had to go and go into places she wasn't welcome.
"My diplomatic immunity counts for her as well, right?" Resh asked, nervously glancing at the Ambassador, whose smile seemed extremely strained now. He hoped so, if Kayci had ruined this alliance then he would not be happy.
"Yes, it does. Let her go, it's okay, she has immunity and is allowed to do whatever she wants, wouldn't want to ruin things for Resh here would we?" she sighed, patting his cheek. "Speaking of whom, I think it's safe to say what you saw in here is never going to be heard of by anyone else. It'd be a shame if I had to hire a new guard because the last one had his head twisted off by my new 'man-friend'."
He mumbled a bit before darting out, obviously scared out of his mind. Resh wasn't really sure what to think about what just happened, it wasn't so much the idle threats of murder for discipline, that didn't bother him. But she just 'assumed' he would be happy to do it for him, to be honest he probably would have, but she didn't know that, and she was almost treating him like a lap-dog. Either way though, he was still pleased about how it was handled, it'd be terrible if the world found out about this when he was becoming importing, Lydia would probably would hear.
Resh tugged on her robes and pulled her back down onto her, grinning at her, "So where were we?"
Laughing she just stood back up, much to his bewilderment, "No Resh, not anymore I have to sort this out, and also I guess explain all your new perks to the rest of the Thalmor and Empire. How about this? if you do well, take a few cities for the Thalmor, you can come back to me, and I'll do whatever you want, who knows, the Thalmor, me especially, could offer… other things entirely than just diplomacy, what do you say?"
Within seconds Resh was standing straight ready to do anything she asked, just for the mere chance at fucking her, which to be honest she was more than happy to do, but the moment was kind of gone. 'Gods, men are so easy to manipulate…'
Kayci POV
"Elenwen says you're free to do whatever you want," the Justicar told her once he returned. "This isn't really something that happens very often, so I'm going to have to ask you to leave, we can't have you sneaking around Elenwen's solar even if you do have your special rights."
"Sure I do, how about you just run along again, while I grab a few of these books? I can't read them very well, but Resh can. And apparently he's being really important recently with you Thalmor, so I'm sure Elenwen will begrudgingly accept him taking them," Resh giggled, grabbing as many of the dossiers as she could, not really having any idea what was in them.
"Those are important dossiers!" he argued, trying to wrestle them off her, but she was surprisingly strong, and shook his hands away with ease, before quickly grabbing his arm and twisting.
"Don't touch me," she hissed as he writhed slightly at the risk she might break his arm. "I have immunity now, I can do whatever the fuck I want. Now what's a dossier? I thought these were just smutty sex books… dossier means the same thing, right?"
"It's a detailed account of another person, you idiot!" he managed to cry out."Please, just let go! You can take the damn books!"
"Great," she smirked, still under the delusion it was a smut filled book, "I can't wait to see what Elenwen has written about."
The Next Day
"Honestly Kayci, I don't see how you couldn't want to get back with Elenwen, she's the most rational and reasonable person I've ever met. The amount of stuff I've gotten out of this deal is insane, all I have to do is take over a few cities," Resh explained happily as the two trudged through the snow out of the Embassy.
Kayci looked at him as if he had gone crazy. "That sounds like quite a lot of work…"
"Not on my own of course, I get to have Thalmor and Empire soldiers on my side, I just claim the place for my own at the the end. Although you're right, it may take a while, which is why I'm not going back to that College, not for a long time that is. I have way too much stuff to do," Resh told her, anticipating her reaction.
"But what about Lydia!? what should I say to her knowing you won't visit her? what about the baby? are you gonna visit her then?" she practically shouted at him.
"Just tell her she can do whatever the fuck she wants," he growled in annoyance, not wanting to put up with this anymore, especially when Elenwen was a foreseeable option. "And no, I won't visit her, not any time soon. I'll visit you, but not her. Also I might return to see my future child, but that's it, who knows? I might even take it away so it isn't raised by someone like her."
"You've changed Resh," Kayci muttered. "You've gotten mean and spiteful," she left out the part about how she knew Elenwen was clearly manipulating him and taking advantage of his emotions… after all she didn't want to have the Ambassador pissed at her.
Brelyna POV
"He should be back now shouldn't he?" Lydia asked, sitting in this College for a few days with nothing to fuck was awful. Now she knew how Kayci felt, there was just nothing to do, it was boring. Not only did the Nord have no interest in magic whatsoever, thanks to Resh burning her hand, but she would no doubt be looked down upon by the 'professionals' for even trying.
Brelyna sighed, she had been asked this question already about six times. "Yes Lydia, the Thalmor stuff should be finished by now, and when he gets back you can fuck to your hearts content."
"I'm sure, what about when he's gone? do you think he'll let me be with someone else just while we're apart. I still really like him and want to be with him. But I can't be away from him for so long," she whined, the moment these hormones went away she was going to not have sex for weeks just on principle. She wasn't sure how much Resh would be pleased about the idea, but he would just have to deal with it while she proves a point.
"I would love to say he seems… open minded. And maybe he is about some things, but on others he seems very rigid and set in his ways, so I can't really say for sure. I think there's a large possibility of him refusing, I would just tell him it's either that or you go with him, I'm sure that'll change his tune. He would do anything to stop you getting hurt," Brelyna tried to comfort her, it was true, so far Resh was very protective of Lydia once she got pregnant, even if it was a strain on their relationship.
"That's a good point, maybe I could even convince him to stay here for the next five and a half months?" she wondered in wishful thinking. Brelyna didn't bother correct her though, Resh had things to do, so definitely wouldn't stay, but if Lydia was happy thinking he would for now, then so be it.
Almost as if on cue the doors to the hall were opened, revealing a worn out looking Kayci, having walked for hours and hours in the snow in a bad condition she just wanted to rest. Unfortunately much to her annoyance she was accosted with questions from Lydia.
"Where's Resh? can I talk to him? is he okay? I need to ask him something," Lydia blurted out in seconds, leaving the tired Tsaesci to just stare back blankly.
"What?" she mumbled.
"Resh, where is he? I need to speak to him," the Nord repeated, slower this time so Kayci could pick it up.
"He's not here," she replied, Brelyna noted that she looked rather crestfallen and upset. What had happened at the Embassy?
Whilst Brelyna started to concoct thousands of horrific stories in her head about what had happen, each more horrible than the last, Lydia start to get angry, "Why not?! where is he?! when will he be back?"
"He's not coming back, not for a long time, it'll be even worse than before because of how mean he's been recently," she muttered, Brelyna sighed in relief now she knew that Kayci's sadness stemmed from Resh rather than anything Elenwen may have done, she didn't discount that entirely though, Kayci did have an awful habit of being in denial sometimes.
"How's he been 'mean'?" Brelyna asked, cutting in before Lydia had a chance to start yelling about where Resh was and how she wanted him back.
"He kept saying how he didn't like Lydia anymore, and wasn't coming back for her cause he had things to do," Kayci replied, almost sniffling, she had been his friend for centuries, and it was devastating to see him act this way to people, especially when she thought he and Lydia were going to live together forever with a kid. He had ruined her idealistic dreams.
"He said he didn't like me?" the woman in question asked quietly, oddly enough despite the clear anger radiating off her she didn't raise her voice. "Does this mean he wouldn't care if I fucked other people while he's gone?"
"Well his exact words were 'Do whatever the fuck you want', so I guess that's okay then," Kayci murmured, not really liking where this was going, everything was falling apart when it came to her friends relationship.
"That's great then," Lydia exclaimed cheerfully rubbing her hands together. "I can pretty much shag as many people as I can, as much as I want, until he gets back and we sort things out. I have a 'free-pass', this is perfect."
"You're taking this better than expected," Brelyna spoke, she didn't think Lydia would be so pleased about Resh leaving her, but after all she thought it would be temporary, and who knows? he would have to come back eventually so maybe it would be.
"Of course I am, now if you don't mind I'm going to go and sort some things out," Lydia said, before dashing out of the door to do what Kayci would usually be doing were she not monogamous.
When the two were alone Brelyna finally worked up the courage to ask. "Did anything happen at the Embassy?"
"Other than Resh essentially joining the Thalmor not really. I had a run in with that Tullius guy… but you probably wouldn't want to hear about that," Kayci said, knowing Brelyna likely wouldn't want to know about all her past exploits, let alone ones she had been paid for.
"I'll take your word fo- Wait a second! did you say Resh joined the Thalmor?!" she practically shouted, wondering why on Nirn he would do something like that, even talking to the Evil Altmer was enough for her, why he would try to deal with them was beyond her.
"Sort of. Basically he's in Elenwen's pocket, but gets a tonne of bonuses for it. She basically leading him on with sex to do whatever she wants," Kayci said quietly, she didn't want to say too much about it though. She didn't want any backlash for disagreeing.
"That's awful!" Brelyna was wide eyed, part of the reason she hated the Thalmor was because they made all Elves seem bad, but this was a lot closer to home than that. "But did she do anything to you…?"
Seeing what she was trying to hint at Kayci responded with anger, "You don't even care about Resh! and can you just let go of whatever nonsense it is you believe happened and traumatised me?!"
At that the Dunmer stopped speaking, not really knowing if she could say anything that wouldn't make the situation worse. And a few minutes passed before one of them finally spoke up again.
"Brelyna?" Kayci asked after a few awkward moments of silence.
"Yes?"
"Can you read these stories for me? I took them from Elenwen's special room place cause I think it's smut she wrote, can you read them to me?" she asked, Brelyna looked at her lover, and after a few seconds decided she couldn't say 'no' to her when she got like this and acted all naive and cute.
Taking the books Brelyna read the cover in her head, before coming to a horrifying conclusion after reading a few all too familiar names, "Kayci… these aren't stories…"
Brelyna POV
She tried to tell Kayci what they were but the Tsaesci didn't believe her. Brelyna wasn't sure if it was still her denial of the 'Elenwen situation' or just that she wasn't the brightest tool in the box, but her lover seemed to insist that she read the books to her, refusing to believe they were anything but porn written by an Ambassador, which Brelyna was sure would never happen in a thousand years.
"Are you sure you want me to read these? I've already told you what's probably in them," Brelyna asked one more time, not knowing if she should considering Kayci thought they were stories. The Dunmer had to admit though, she too was interested, and terrified, about what was in the dossiers, especially the ones with Resh and Kayci's names on them.
"I don't know, not all of them. Just the ones that look the most interesting. Also leave out anything which has men in it cause I know you don't like that stuff," Kayci explained, Brelyna couldn't help but smile at the thoughtfulness in that small gesture, even though she was completely deluded about the books content it was nice to know that Kayci took her feelings into consideration even when she was horny.
"Thank you for the offer Kayci, but these aren't what you think they are," Brelyna protested again, holding up one of the books. "See look, these have important peoples nam-"
"When you study I don't annoy you no matter how bored I get, the least you could do is return the favour and do something I want for once," Kayci cut her off, not seeming to pay any attention to the important words she was trying to say, either intentional or not Brelyna would never know.
Brelyna sighed, opening the one that said 'Resh' first, not sure if she wanted to see Elenwen's account about Kayci, "If you insist."
Resh POV
Did he feel bad about leaving Kayci to go to the College herself? maybe a little, but Resh had good reason, and he made sure they were close enough to the city for her to be safe walking by herself, not that she needed protection. Kayci was still a great fighter regardless of permanent muscle damage.
But having regrets about going in? definitely not, he didn't want to see Lydia at all, he knew if he went back she'd find out about his meeting with Elenwen, and not be pleased. Although that much was probably going to happen anyway, Kayci tended to not be able to keep her mouth shut. At least this way he wouldn't be there to see it.
Right now Resh didn't really know what he was doing. He had a vague idea, but so far all he knew was that he needed to stop the Dragons, and to take a few cities for the Thalmor. He really needed a bit more instruction than just that.
Almost as if on cue a Thalmor agent cleared his throat behind him, "Resh, once you left the Embassy Elenwen told me to find you. I have a letter for you she wrote out from what I gather it's a mission she wants to send you on."
Despite being very pleased about finally knowing what to do Resh was apprehensive, "I'm not under the employment of the Thalmor though. She shouldn't be ordering me to do jobs for her, I'm only meant to fight alongside the Empire but take the cities for you, nothing more, and as far as I know it won't be a while until either of the two factions actually try to take cities."
"She isn't really ordering you to do anything. Elenwen seemed almost embarrassed to have me send you this, so I think she is just 'asking' you to do it cause she needs your help rather than making you do something for her. No doubt there will be a reward if you do help her though," almost immediately Resh snatched the letter off him, a 'reward' could only mean one thing…
"This is a huge coincidence," Resh told him, a little suspicious. "Why show up to give me information on what to do just as I was thinking about how I needed information?"
The Elf looked at him with confusion for a few moments, "If you're implying I can predict your thoughts I wonder what Elenwen saw in you…" he muttered, before noticing the larger man glare at him in anger at his jab and correcting himself. "But I'm sure there was something important about you. If you're wondering why I showed up now I've been tailing you since the Embassy, I just didn't want to give you the Ambassadors letter with the other woman around, it's confidential. And now she's gone I came to you the first chance I got."
"Makes sense," he agreed, waiting until the Thalmor left before reading it. He knew the Altmer was obviously high up considering he knew most of the letters contents already, but still, this was his letter. And Elenwen might have written some personal stuff in it.
Elenwen's Letter
Resh
I know I shouldn't be asking you of this, and I am very sorry to do so. But there is a member of a hostile organisation called 'the Blades' in hiding in Riften. Were it up to me I wouldn't be asking you, as this isn't your agreement, but I have no choice. I need your help.
None of my agents have been successful in capturing him, and with your… abilities, I believe you could do even better than that. If you looked like a Nord, and acted the part I'm sure you could trick him into thinking you're on his side, and then could find the rest of this 'Esberns' pathetic faction.
It may not seem entirely 'moral' but it's the best chance we have at finding the rest of them. Also, you might find some stuff out about the Dragons while you're at it, in their simplest form they're Dragonslayers, and will no doubt have important information about them we could use.
Don't think you won't be handsomely rewarded for it though if you help us, if we play our cards right with the civil war you could put the Thalmor in charge of all of Skyrim, and I think a certain Tsaesci might want to be High King. Just something you might want to bear in mind.
- Elenwen
P.S. if for some reason being in charge of a country isn't what you want I'm sure we can think of an… 'alternative'.
Elenwen POV
Once again things were going perfectly, her top agent had just gotten back after doing his job to the letter and beyond. Not only had he delivered her letter but waited for an appropriate moment where no one would be there to talk him out of it.
She had been planning this ever since she met him at the party. She couldn't just give him a mission then otherwise he wouldn't agree and say it wasn't part of the deal, but if she lied, and told him she was embarrassed and needed his help when he had already left pleased, she knew she would get her way.
Things were just too easy, regardless of race or culture men would always remain to be men, and that just meant they didn't think with their brain. Elenwen wasn't lying to Resh when she told him she wanted nothing more than good relations between the Thalmor and his kind, that much was true, but if she could get a little bit extra along the way she didn't mind manipulating him a bit. It's not like she was betraying him though, she would never do that. Believe it or not Elenwen respected her allies, and didn't plan on stabbing him, or his kind in the back.
