Deciding that he needed more help from his sister in his bid to win Stephanie back Hunter had arranged to cook dinner for her Wednesday evening because it was the only night of the week he could guarantee that he would have for her.
Having shopped for the bare essentials for dinner because he wasn't in the mood to do a big shop Hunter went home and started to prepare dinner.
A few hours later when his doorbell rang he was relieved to see his sister on the other side, he was sick of thinking about Stephanie's behaviour and wanted somebody else's opinion on it.
Quickly finishing off dinner he was soon putting the plate on the table, "sit down and enjoy."
Sitting down Lynn sat looked at her brother as he sat down opposite to her, "so how did it go this week?"
Shrugging his shoulders Hunter wasn't sure how to answer as he wasn't even sure himself, "well she didn't fire me so that has to be a good thing right?"
Laughing she nodded her head, "sure, whatever helps you sleep at night."
Cutting into his salmon Hunter sighed, "it's not really even Stephanie that's bothering me, it's her behaviour and Mikey."
"Mikey? What has he done?"
Briefly setting his knife and fork down on the table he clasped his hands in front of him, "this is going to sound really stupid so please don't laugh at me but it's just like I feel drawn to him. I normally hate kids and think they're annoying brats but he's so different, I feel a connection and I just want to watch out for him which is why I found him wandering the corridors at Raw I took him back to Stephanie."
Unsure on whether to broach the subject properly with her brother Lynn decided to ignore most of what he said, "I bet you turning up with Mikey went down well with Stephanie."
"Like you wouldn't believe. I swear if Trish hadn't have been there I'm pretty sure she would have pretended I hadn't even turned up on her doorstep with Mikey. Ever since I told her I loved her and wanted her back she is pretending I am not even there even more. Did I do the wrong thing?"
Lynn's eyes widened at the revelation, "you actually told her that you loved her and wanted her back."
Picking up his knife and fork again he slowly nodded his head, "yes, why? I didn't think I would ever have another opportunity to say it to her so I thought I would just say it whilst I had her attention."
Dipping the green bean on her fork into her mash before she took a bite of it Lynn pondered her response to his revelation, "umm, well you see I can understand why you did what you did and why you said it whilst you had the chance but now her apparently weird behaviour makes some sense."
"You think her behaviour makes sense simply because I told her I loved her and wanted her back?"
Nodding her head slowly she was even more convinced something deeper was going on with Stephanie, "yeah I do. I have a feeling she may still have feelings for you."
Nearly choking on the piece of salmon he had just attempted to swallow Hunter coughed a few times before he took a sip of his water, "and here I was thinking I was the crazy one in this family. She clearly doesn't still have feelings for me, she has a son by another man."
Before he knew what she was saying the words just came out, "but does she?"
Silence fell over the room as his brain tried to process exactly what his sister was trying to say to him but he failed miserably, "you think Mikey is not even Stephanie's son? He looks exactly like her."
"No Hunter, I mean maybe he is not another man's child."
Staring at his sister he opened his mouth and quickly closed it again a few times before he was able to formulate a coherent response even if it was just snarky, "you think it was an immaculate conception?"
Grabbing a bread roll off the table she threw it at her brother's head, "no you idiot. What if Mikey is your son?"
Unable to prevent the snort at her question Hunter shook his head, "yeah no, I think you've been taking crazy pills. You saw the video, you saw that it was clearly an actor that was playing the Doctor."
"But what if she really was pregnant? What if she just employed that Doctor to try and convince you she was pregnant because she knew you wouldn't believe her if she just told you herself? What if she didn't know she was pregnant when she employed that actor to tell you she was pregnant?"
Rolling his eyes he didn't get his sister's apparent obsession with Mikey being his, "okay let me put this another way. If she was really pregnant I would have seen it, she wouldn't have got involved with Jericho and I would have seen the bump of the baby."
Despite the overwhelming urge she had to strangle her brother Lynn tried to remain calm, "well didn't her decision to leave come out of the blue? Didn't you say that she was supposed to be at the signing of the divorce papers but she just sent her lawyer and didn't turn up?"
Finally starting to understand why his sister was talking so crazy he slowly nodded his head in acknowledgement of what she was saying, "but even putting all of that together it feels like a really bad maths solution, it feels like we're putting two and two together and coming up with a billion. If I said any of this to Stephanie or asked who Mikey's Dad was she'd probably fire me."
"Which is why you don't say anything to her Hunter, you try and somehow get proof one way or the other without actually asking her."
Rolling his eyes he shook his head, "you really think anything with Stephanie will be that easy? I'd have a better chance of marrying Angelina Jolie than I would getting proof of who Mikey's Father is."
Unimpressed with her brother's defeatist attitude she shook her head at him, "don't think like that because you will be surprised by what you can achieve when you put your mind to it. You haven't been nicknamed 'the cerebral assassin' for nothing you know, start putting that brain of yours to good use by thinking of ways you can find out the truth without going directly to Stephanie without having some sort of proof first."
Thinking it over silently Hunter nodded his head, "well I know Mikey knows nothing but the same can't be same for Trish because her and Stephanie seem very close since Steph has come back and she has been hinting weird stuff like she knows something I don't."
Lynn's ears pricked up at that little piece of news, "oh? What has she been hinting at?"
"On Monday she said to me something about me not being the only one keeping a secret. I assumed that Trish was talking about something else but now you've planted the seed in my mind that Mikey may be mine I'm starting to wonder if that is what she was referring to but then I just feel like I sound crazy."
Rolling her eyes she shook her head, "I didn't plant anything, you were the one who has said from day one that you feel like you have a connection with Mikey, I'm sure deep down in your heart you thought it too but didn't want to verbalise it."
Hunter groaned, "oh shut up. Let's not think about Stephanie or Mikey or anything any longer because I think if we do my brain will explode. Let's finish dinner and just enjoy some brother/sister bonding."
Smiling at her brother she nodded her head, "sounds good to me."
Despite their agreement to not verbalise any more thoughts about Stephanie or Mikey they were both still thinking them but they were just locked inside their heads.
