I have a lot of chapters of this story already written so I will probably update it quite frequently, hopefully you won't mind hehe
Lynn nearly dropped the phone in surprise when she heard Hunter utter those words, "what do you mean he is your son? What does the piece of paper say exactly?"
Hunter was still in a state of shock after reading it but he did manage to answer her, "well practically the first words were 'yesterday you met your son for the very first time' so I'm pretty sure he is my son."
She currently had no idea what to say to her brother as she was finding it hard to process it all, "so umm . . . what exactly was the piece of paper for anyway?"
"It was a letter, she was venting her frustrations at me for not believing her when she said she wasn't lying about being pregnant and how it was my fault I don't have my son in my life. God it feels so weird to say those words."
Lynn felt bad for her brother, she could absolutely understand why his head was all over the place but that fact was concerning to her right now because he was on the road with Stephanie and would be for the next two days. Taking a deep breath she decided to push him and make sure that he was thinking with his head and not his heart, "so what are you planning to do with this information Hunter? You're not going to do anything stupid are you?"
Laughing he shook his head, "stupid like confronting her?"
Bristling a little she wasn't liking the sound of that at all, "yes exactly. Hunter you shouldn't even have that letter so you need to put it back and not tell anybody that you have seen it."
"Wait, what are you suggesting I do do with this information? I can't sit back and do nothing now that I know Mikey is my son."
Sighing softly she completely understood his apparent desperation but she felt that he had to sit back and wait for the right moment, "Hunter I do understand where you're coming from but the problem that I am currently seeing is that if you go full speed ahead and say to Stephanie that you know Mikey is yours she will wonder how you know that but not just that, it was just one week ago that you told her that you wanted her back."
He was starting to understand where his sister was coming from but it was starting to add up that he had absolutely no chance of winning, "so I should be patient? How long should I be patient for? The longer I wait the more I am missing out on."
"I think you're past the point of missing out on stuff. Do you even know how old he actually is? My guess is you've missed most of his firsts so you really have nothing to worry about from that regard. If you're lucky you might be able to catch his first day of school but that will probably be it."
Groaning he relaxed back in his seat, "wow, way to depress me. Even though I have missed most of his firsts it doesn't mean that I want to miss out on any more time spent with him than I really really have to."
Shifting in her seat she felt bad for doing that to him, "I'm sorry Hunter, I was just trying to be realistic and make you understand that whether you rush into it or whether you wait it out the end product will still be the same because you'll still have missed out on all of the same things."
Standing up he slipped the letter back into his pocket, "so what exactly are you suggesting I do? I want you to explain it because I'm not really thinking straight at the minute."
Laughing she bit back the insult that was on the tip of her tongue, "I am suggesting that you replace the letter as soon as possible and then you sit back for a little and just wait for the right moment to talk with Stephanie about it. If you rush into it then she'll want to know how you found out the truth and the minute you say you found out through the letter you took from her bag you will screw everything up and she will be so pissed with you."
Starting to pace a little in the row of seats he sighed heavily, "I can't do this, I can't sit back and do nothing."
"You have to Hunter, you don't have any other option but to just sit back and wait for the right time to present itself to you. I know this is going to be hard but think about it this way, if you push things with Stephanie with the way the two of you have been together as of late it will likely backfire in spectacular fashion and you won't have any contact with Mikey and you may even be lucky to have a job if you don't play this the right way."
Hunter frowned, "you mean I'm not lucky to have a job now? I guess if I don't tell Stephanie that I know anything she will have absolutely no idea and as much as she doesn't like me and isn't keen on me being around Mikey I will still be able to be around him when he is with Trish."
Relieved to hear that he was finally seeing things her way Lynn breathed a sigh of relief, "exactly. See there are some bonuses to sitting back and waiting and listening to what I have to say."
Rolling his eyes he made his way towards the steps and started to make his way back to the arena floor, "sure, whatever you say. I had better get going and replace this thing so I'll call you later. Thank you for this Lynn."
Shrugging her shoulders she was just glad that he was going to replace it quickly, "you're welcome Hunter, you know I'm always here to listen to you and make you see sense."
"Yeah whatever, bye Lynn."
Without waiting for his sister to respond he ended the call and slid his phone into his pocket making his way towards Stephanie's office.
Hearing the dial tone in her ear Lynn rolled her eyes, "bye Hunter."
Once she had put her phone back down she did think about giving her Mom a call to tell her about the developments but changed her mind, this was something that Hunter himself needed to tell their parents as it was not her news to share.
As he made his way backstage Hunter didn't want to go to Stephanie's office and for her to be there as she may think he was stalking with he so when he saw a stage hand he quickly grabbed them, "hey you, do you know if Stephanie McMahon is in her office please?"
The stage hand was slightly intimidated by Hunter's presence and gulped slowly shaking his head, "no she's not. I think she was meeting with someone about something. Sorry it's my first day and I don't know everyone yet but I can pass a message on if you wish?"
Shaking his head Hunter was pleased with that news, "no it's okay thanks, I will just catch her later."
Once he had the confirmation that Stephanie wasn't in her office Hunter left the stage hand and made his way to her office looking around him as he went to make sure nobody was watching him. When he reached her office he made sure that nobody was around to see him before he quickly entered her office pushing the door shut behind him.
Walking over to the desk he lifted up her laptop bag before he took the paper from his back pocket and slid it back inside the front pocket of the bag, just as he was about to close the flap on the bag the door swung open. Lifting his head and looking like a rabbit caught in the headlights he gulped when he saw who it was.
Trish was feeling guilty for forcing Hunter on Stephanie to look after Mikey so she wanted to make it up to her and explain. As she reached Stephanie's office she just pushed the door open expecting to see her sat at her desk but what she saw instead was not a good sight, "what the hell do you think you're doing?"
Quickly placing Stephanie's laptop bag back on the floor he walked around the desk again, "I was just putting a pen I borrowed earlier back."
Raising her eyebrow she did wonder if he thought she was stupid enough to believe that, "do you really think I came down in the last shower? I know that's bullshit Hunter, I can tell you're lying to me so why don't you start by telling me the truth before I tell Stephanie what I found."
He was stuck between a rock and a hard place, if he told Trish what he knew she may tell Stephanie that he knew and if he didn't then she would tell Stephanie that he was going through her luggage. Sighing heavily he picked the lesser of two evils, "not here, it has to be in private."
Nodding her head Trish turned and opened the office door, "after you."
Shoving his hands deep in his pockets he walked past Trish and made his way towards the outside, it was probably the easiest place to talk where they wouldn't be eavesdropped on.
Suspicious of what Hunter was up to she was pleasantly surprised when he didn't get angry or attempt to pedigree her, he was really making great progress . . . or was up until she caught him going through Stephanie's things. Following him out of the door she was really going to be interested by what story he tried to tell her.
