Chapter 10: Jess's POV

"Kai," I muttered, "I should've known..."

"Now, I have a proposition for you," he started as he crossed his arms, "you go out with me, on just one date, and I'll make sure no harm comes to you or Jack."

"Jack?" I asked, "What does Jack have to do with this?"

Kai smirked and my face paled. "You told Drake about Jack," I whispered, "Kai, how could you?"

"How could you date my cousin?" he snapped

"Unlike you, Kai, Jack actually makes me feel loved," I replied as I crossed my arms.

"But I love you more than he does, Jess,"

I scowled. "You love using me!" I clenched my fists and glared at him.

"That was one time!" he protested.

I shook my head and started to walk away. "Leave me alone!" I yelled as I pushed the willow branches away and walked into the clearing.

Kai grabbed my shoulder tightly and I turned to look at him. "I get what I want, Jess," he said sternly, "And you know that."

I pulled away from him. "I'm not scared of you," I snapped.

"You used to be," he said as he took another step towards me.

I took in a deep breath. "Things change, Kai," I told him, "I was scared because I thought you would abandon me, or hurt me. But after everything I've been through, do you really think I would be afraid of someone that helped me?"

He clenched his fists and I tried to ignore the voice in my head telling me to run. I stood confidently and hid all signs of weakness. Kai smirked. "Still trying to act fearless?" he mocked, "Never worked before, doesn't work now. Why don't you just run? I know you want to."

"I didn't run then and I won't run now," I replied seriously, "I can handle anything you do or say to me."

"Really? What about what he does?" Kai motioned behind me.

I was about to turn around when someone grabbed me from behind and put a cloth over my mouth and nose. I caught a glimpse of the person while I was struggling to get free. Drake. I tried to fight the drowsiness that started to take over me, but I couldn't. I passed out and fell limply to the ground. The last thing I remembered was the scent of Chloroform from the rag.

I woke up about an hour later. I looked around and saw that I was on the Great Wall. My heart started to pound and I heard a voice say my name. A sickening feeling washed over me and I looked to my left. Jack. I closed my eyes and lay my head on the ground. I turned onto my back and covered my face with my hands.

I felt someone pull me roughly onto my feet. "Hello, Jessi," Kai said as he smirked at me.

I groaned. "Why can't you just do the right thing?" I asked.

"How long have you known me?" he replied.

I scowled and looked at Jack. "Let him go," I whispered sadly, "Please."

He chuckled and walked over to his cousin. "Now why should I do that?" he asked as he started to tie Jack's wrists behind his back.

Once Kai was finished, he walked over to me.

"You have one more chance, Jess," he said, holding his hand out to me. "You can come back to me, or both you and Jack die."

"Kai, this is between you and me, leave Jack out of this!" I pleaded.

He glanced at Jack angrily and tied my wrists in front of me, "If it wasn't for Jack, I would still have you."

I glared at him, pulled my hands away, and smacked him with the back of my hand. He felt his cheek and smirked at me, "Confident little thing, aren't ya?" He grabbed my hands again and retied my wrists. He pushed me near the back of the Wall, "That's not how I remember you..." He walked over to Jack and pushed him all the way to the back to the wall.

Jack glanced at me uneasily and the color drained from his face. "Now don't worry, Jack," Kai said, "the worst thing that'll happen is you'll break a leg... or your neck." He pushed Jack again.

My eyes widened and I ran to Jack. I wrapped my arms around his chest and pulled him back. He stumbled backwards and Kai looked at me in shock and confusion. "Next time you try to kill someone, make sure they don't have a knife with him," I said as I held up a pocket knife.

"Where did you get that?" Kai asked me.

"Drake always has a weapon with him," I answered as I walked over to Jack. I cut the ropes around his wrists and turned back to Kai. "If you're such a tough guy," I started, "fight me yourself. One on One."

He glared at me and said, "Fine, but I hope you remember the last time we fought."

I took a deep breath and smirked. "Trust me, I do," I replied, "But no cheating, understand?"

Kai nodded and I dropped the pocket knife. He kicked it away.

I kicked him in the stomach and he grabbed my wrist tightly. I winced slightly and jerked back; I gripped my wrist and glared at him. "You know," I started as glanced at him, "you really should be more careful when you kidnap someone."

He hesitated for a minute and I kicked his legs out from under him. I pinned him down and held a cloth over his mouth and nose. The same cloth Drake used on me an hour before. "You are so careless," I told him as his eyes began to close.

Once he was still, I stood up and looked at Jack. "I'm so sorry you were dragged in to this, Jack," I apologized, "I never wanted you to get hurt."

Jack took a couple of steps toward me, taking my hand in his. "I don't care what happens to me, Jess," he said gently, "as long as you're safe."

I smiled and he pulled me closer to him. "I... I don't want to put you in danger," I told him, "You could've been killed today, why-"

He rolled his eyes and kissed me. I hesitantly kissed him back but then pulled away once I realized what had happened. "Uh, um," I stuttered, "Why...? Why didn't...? What just...?" I shook my head and smiled. "You actually care about me...?" I asked.

"Do you not remember what just happened like, five seconds ago?" he replied, "Because I'd be glad to refresh your memory."

I rolled my eyes, still smiling, but then remembered one thing. "Oh my gosh," I said quietly, "I was broken out jail... the police are going to be looking for me and now I seem even more guilty than before! What do I do?"

"Uh... plead your innocence...?"

I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath.

How am I supposed to prove my innocence when there's so much evidence against me?

Yay, last Friday was my last day of school! :) Hopefully I'll focus more on my stories now that it's summer vacation.

I went to see 'Maleficent' on Friday, oh my gosh, it is soo good! I totally loved it.

Anyway, I will update ASAP. But I will update even FASTER if I get reviews! And that's reviews, with an S. Plural. More than one.

Have a blessed day.

P.S. I want to add something: 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV version) says, 'But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."'

I know that quite a few people think they're not beautiful enough, well you are beautiful in God's eyes. But if your heart isn't pure, then who cares what you look like on the outside? God doesn't look at beauty, He looks at your heart. If you want to know more about the Lord and His Word, you are more than welcome to PM me and ask. I will always talk to you and listen and try to help.
