Brelyna POV

"Kayci!" the Elf shouted through the thick door at her, extremely pissed off at something she was pretty sure had happened. "We need to talk! can I come in?"

A few moments passed before she got her answer, which was Kayci snapping back, albeit in a very forlorn voice. "No, you're not coming in."

"It's about t-" Brelyna started, although, she was interrupted before finishing.

"I know what it's about, it's that stupid guard you sent in a few hours ago."

Brelyna was worried now, she didn't want to automatically assume horrible things of her lover, and knew that her worst thoughts were probably not true, but she still needed to talk to her. "Then let me in, he didn't come back after he should have and the other guards are talking."

"You're not coming in Brelyna," she whispered through the door. "You'd get pissed off, and I don't want that around the clutch."

The Dunmer sighed, knowing now with certainty her suspicions were correct, and likely about to go against what the entire point of trying to be a just leader was. "I promise I won't get annoyed, I understand your current position. Just tell me what happened, and I'll make something up to put the others at ease, they're starting to think there's a monster in here… you're not a monster Kayci, just tell me."

Finally, when a few minutes went by, and after Brelyna felt like just calling it quits and going to bed upset the door creaked open slowly, and she was led in by her.

Not wanting to overstep her bounds Brelyna only moved where Kayci guided her, the overprotectiveness of her meant that letting her in the room with the eggs was obviously very hard for her to do.

Eventually Kayci let go of her, and wrapped herself around the 14 strong mound of eggs, it was the first time Brelyna had seen them and it seemed this was as close as she was going to get for the time being. Not wanting Kayci to get worried Brelyna decided not to comment on her future children just yet, but instead, focusing on the issue at hand.

"Kayce, I just want you to know, that whatever you say I'll believe you, and also that I won't be angry for you and that you have your reasons," she started, looking at the snakelike woman, who nodded her golden head slowly. "Did you kill the man I sent down here to give you food? this is a serious issue, and I need to know the truth to sort things out with the guard, and with rumours."

"Yes," she admitted with a pained sigh, hanging her head. "I killed an innocent guy just cause he got to close, please don't hate me. I just got intimidated, and before I knew it I'd snapped his neck and had a good meal ahead of me."

She went slightly pale at what her words entailed. "Well… I guess that solves what happened with the bodies… but don't worry Kayci, I forgive you, as would Resh, as would Lydia, and as would anyone who knows what you're going through. Just… just don't do it again, and I'll forgive you."

As quick as a flash Brelyna found herself wrapped within Kayci's tail, at first she assumed she'd said something wrong and that this was the end for her, but a quick kiss from Kayci set her straight. "I promise I won't, it was a spur of the moment thing I did out of fear, it shouldn't have happened, I'm so happy you understand."

"Should I go now? after all, the… eggs… and all that need your care," Brelyna told her as she was let go from her grip, it still felt really strange for her to talk about eggs as if they were her babies.

"I'd prefer it actually," Kayci said, despite loving her it still didn't feel comfortable. "Just try thinking of 14 baby names, remember they've got to be all girl though. You've got two weeks… have fun…"

Resh POV

This was the end, he knew it, it was inevitable really, Resh knew there was no way he'd actually be able to kill Alduin and survive. During the fight he had taken a somewhat fatal blow by the side of the Dragons wing, and now he was back to the real world too far to get any sort of help.

Well, that was a lie really. The top of the Throat of the World wasn't very far from the Greybeards, who would no doubt help him after all he had done. But there wasn't a way he would be able to get down to them without bleeding out, not one that didn't require asking a dragon for help, which wasn't happening.

He refused even Paarthurnax's offer. Regardless of the beasts help over his quest he still hated the disgusting thing, and wouldn't even consider asking it for more, even if it meant dying as the alternative.

With his final bouts of energy Resh silently said his goodbyes to all his friends in his head, even Brelyna and ended it with: "Goodbye Lissandre, I guess I won't be seeing you again, but at least this world is safe for you now…" before finally letting his eyes fall shut, unable to open them again as he lay sliced open in the snow… no breaths left from him…

A Few Hours Later Resh POV

"-esh? Resh? are you waking up?" he heard a voice pierce through his mumbled hearing. Instantly Resh knew it was Arngeir, but it didn't make him any less furious than he already was once he realised he was no longer on the throat of the world.

"Yes!" he snapped, before asking harshly. "Now how did I get down here? last I checked I should be dead."

The monk was confused, but regardless answered him, albeit slowly so there was no misunderstanding. "Paarthurnax carried you down from the top, he said that you came from Sovngarde after defeating Alduin."

Arngeir seemed almost awestruck when he spoke the last bit, barely comprehending that it could have happened and that the dragon god was finally defeated. But Resh clearly didn't care, as he immediately glared. "I did not want that fucking dragon to help me, he must have known that!"

"He told us that it would be against your will, but he knew it was for the greater good," he defended, trying to calm him down even though the Tsaesci was now rising from the ground in anger.

Resh hissed. "I'm going to fucking kill it! I don't want anything more to do with those things and then one comes to 'save' me. I would rather be dead!"

"I don't think that's true Resh… you have friends, you have a lover and a child. You can't try to take revenge on someone for bringing you back to that," he continued to argue, not wanting to see his orders leaders struck down by the petty emotion of some idiot who was racist to all dragons.

"Sure I can, and I will," he bluntly stated, before turning to where Arngeir had lain his equipment, ready to leave and strike down one last dragon…

Kayci POV

Snapping her eyes open Kayci jumped from the floor, tail keeping her eggs from any potential harm, and willing to risk her lives for them. Whatever that noise was it was going to fucking die for being stupid enough to come into her room when she was asleep.

She scanned the room but nothing of note was in there, not even a small animal like a rat that could have made the noise unintentionally. Something was wrong though, she heard it from inside though, and needless to say she was afraid there would be something dangerous.

Checking down at her clutch Kayci sighed in relief, far from danger the noise had a much better cause. One of the eggs had a long crack running down it, it had been three weeks since laying so it was about time they hatched.

Kayci considered getting Brelyna so she could be around but decided she didn't want to leave her now hatching babies alone, even if it was only for a minute. Eventually the Tsaesci came to good conclusion, slithering over to the door she opened it a crack and saw the guard stationed outside.

"Go get Brelyna," she hissed at him, he couldn't see her because of the darkness, but jumped in fright at the sudden noise.

"What?" he asked, not quite hearing her properly.

Immediately sparking her anger Kayci snapped and shot out of her room, lifting the poor man off the ground before he could react. "I said get Brelyna you fucking idiot!" once she was sure he had got the message and finished urinating she threw him a few feet down the hall and watched him scurry away from the 'big snake monster'. She guessed that was her secret gone, but she didn't really care much considering the hatching was more important.

Not ten minutes passed before Brelyna stormed into the room in fury. "Are you insane?! you are aware there's a man running around like a lunatic telling people how he was attacked by some giant snake! and then when I went to sort it out I had to fight off all the guards that want-"

"I don't care about any of that," Kayci quickly dismissed her mid rant, leaving the Dunmer with a very confused look on her face, still one of anger, but with her mouth still open and slightly miffed about what had just happened and that she was shushed so flippantly. "Look at this!" she squealed excitedly.

She would've argued more with the crazy Tsaesci considering their secret was now exposed, but sighed as she realised in this sort of mood she would never get through to the woman. So instead, walked over and followed the other womans gaze. After a second of looking at the piles of eggs, Brelyna paused, whispering at her. "Is that what I think it is…?"

"Yeah… one of your daughters is born," Kayci smiled, reaching forwards and lifting up the small grey serpent by it's tail, smiling even more as the little thing the size of her finger made a little squealing hiss noise and tried to pull itself up to the hand which held her.

Holding her properly Kayci laughed when she squirmed in her hand. "Is there a reason she's grey?" Brelyna asked, still stuck in awe at what was being shown. This was literally a part of her, she had a child. Not just that, but a child with another woman that was biologically both of theirs, and also a snake that hatched.

Kayci shrugged, playing with the little snake as she tried to bite her fingers. "I imagine it's because you're the mother… father… well, you're something to her, and you're grey too so it probably passed on."

"Can I hold her?" Brelyna asked cautiously, not knowing how protective Kayci would be but still wanting so more contact with her little snake child.

The Tsaesci paused for a few moments. "No, you can wait with me for the others to hatch within the next few days though."

Sighing the Dunmer saddened, not liking how she couldn't even be trusted enough by her lover to pick up her own child. "It's not the same…"

Noticing her upset and not wanting her girlfriend to feel dejected quickly said to her. "You can decide her name though. Anything you want I'll go with it."

This was all a bit sudden so Brelyna didn't actually have one in mind. "Can I have a while to think about it…?"

Brelyna POV

Despite not being trusted enough to hold the young girl Brelyna had still spent the last few hours doting over her, and playing with her daughter. Kayci didn't mind any of that, so long as the child wasn't taken out of her hands at any point she was happy with it.

The little girl was only a little longer the length of her finger, and it was definitely feisty, with the way she tried to jump up at her other mothers hands every time Brelyna went to touch her. Occasionally hitting the mark and using her little amount of strength to attempt to grab at and hug the woman she had an innate connection with. Brelyna settled at lowering her hand so she could do it easier, delighting at the feel of the small snake pressed against her, she felt so loved, no feeling was better than this.

By no means did they look like an ordinary family in the position they were now, and by no means did they think so either. She didn't care though, Brelyna was likely the only Dunmer lesbian with biological snake children, and she loved it.

With any luck the rest should start hatching by the end out the night, Kayci had informed her that there were always one or two that cracked open before the other, but after that the rest should all start around the same time, except for maybe a few late comers.

Brelyna still hadn't thought of an appropriate name yet for the first child, she had come to the conclusion it would be a Dunmer one though due to the dark complexion, but she really should've started thinking about it earlier.

"So, shouldn't you really be starting breastfeeding by now? one of your children has already been born for a few hours, she might be hungry," Brelyna told her, not wanting the child to be neglected by accident because of Kayci maybe not knowing things and herself too busy thinking of names.

The Tsaesci looked at her in confusion like she had gone mad. "What's that?"

Brelyna was dumbfounded, was her girlfriend really this clueless? it would seem Resh's constant insults on her intelligence were well founded. "Surely you must know, it's milk, you make milk from your breasts, and infants drink it for sustenance."

"Ooooh, so that's what the white stuff pregnant women sometimes have is…" Kayci wondered aloud, obviously remembering back to so occasion when she had experience with the stuff. She quickly spoke again when she noticed Brelyna's frown at her recollection. "Yeah, Tsaesci don't do that…"

"Really?" Brelyna asked her pointedly, not believing that bit and squeezing one of her well endowed breasts to make her point. "Then what are these for?"

Kayci looked at her funny, not knowing her point. "I don't get it… what about them?"

"You must have a reason for them though, all the other races have them for milk purposes, that's what they're for! so why do you have them too if not for that?" the Dunmer argued in exasperation, failing to understand.

"Argonians have tits too and they don't do this 'milk' thing you're talking about either. Besides, it doesn't matter much anyway, these things are hot so I don't mind that they don't make sense," Kayci smirked, liking the fact she had sex appeal.

Finally appeased Brelyna sighed. "I guess so… it makes sense now why you don't have nipples…"

Kayci was about to say something to that but was cut off by the familiar sound of Resh shouting far away, probably at some poor soldier who wants to share the latest gossip. "For fucks sake! it's not a fucking 'monster' she is a Tsaesci and I am well aware that Kayci is one!"

The Dunmer was about to note Resh's arrival but the man in question was yelling again. "How?! because I am fucking one too. you know what? I don't give a fuck anymore if people know! just go tell fucking everyone, I'm tired and if anyone wakes me up another one of you will have to notify the chef I won't be eating anything in the morning!"

Given by how much more than usual he was swearing Resh was obviously not in a good mood. Brelyna didn't see him like this particularly often so it was clear something bad had happened during his trip. At least he had won though, otherwise he wouldn't have come back.

"I feel so sorry for whoever he just shouted at…" Brelyna started, chuckling slightly at the loud noises of Resh's irritated footsteps as he strode down the hallway.

"Oh, I just remembered, I told Resh I would name one of our children after him, so I guess our firstborn already has a name then," Kayci explained cheerfully, before seeing the mortified look on Brelyna's face and adding. "You can pick the next one though, I'm sorry but a promise is a promise."

"You're not naming our daughter 'Resh'…" she snapped bluntly, not wanting her to make a stupid decision.

"Why not? he's my best friend Brelyna, he deserves it," the new mother argued, wondering what Brelyna could possibly have against him.

Snapping now in annoyance Brelyna continued. "Because he is a man, and all our children are women, 'Resh' is a terrible name for any of them. Does he even want this himself?"

"Well… he didn't outright say it b-"

"So 'no' then? let's just ask him then," Brelyna muttered as she heard his heavy footsteps get close to the room.

Resh POV

"Resh! talk some sense into your idiot of a friend will you?!" Brelyna called out in exasperation when she saw him peer into the room briefly when walking by.

"She's an idiot all the time," he replied, dismissing her with a yawn. "You sort it out."

Brelyna stuttered, not expecting a reaction like that from Kayci's best friend, who should be very excited right now. "But she wants to name one of the girls after yo-"

"Listen," Resh ground out, holding his head in a hand as if in pain. "I have killed so many dragons recently and saved this fucking world, the least I deserve is having some sleep after almost a month without feeling guilty about it."

The Dunmer was speechless, part of her wanted to press the issue of what Kayci had done even more, but she had to admit, he had been through alot and did deserve some kind of rest before being harassed. "Fine, just go. But if you find out one of your, in a way, nieces is called 'Reshy' you have only yourself to blame."

Resh paused for a moment debating whether or not getting some sleep was worth the repercussions of this. His decision was made in the form of a grunt as he continued down the hall, leaving the Elf to sort out this problem herself.

Taking one last sidetrack before reaching his bed Resh found himself face to face with Lydia, sighing he decided to get this over with. "I'm guessing you managed to beat Alduin then? thou-"

"Lydia, let's be honest here, our relationship did not work out. And before you think I'm just unnecessarily criticising you I will admit it was as much my fault, if not more so, as yours, I just blamed you too much," Resh started to confess, the last few weeks had really affected him. "I'm not going to lie but every second since I found out I was the dragonborn I've wanted to go back home and take my life, regardless of 'us' and even Lissand-"

"Where are you going with this Resh…?" Lydia asked worriedly, this wasn't exactly sounding like the best thing in the world.

"I used to think my only option after beating Alduin was to go back home, but I realise now I don't want to, and that there's always another choice. We both fucked things up, and ruined our relationship in our own way, and I'm saying we need to start over," Resh explained, pulling her closer. "If we try again I know we can make things work perfectly."

Lydia smiled, and answered him with a kiss. "I think we can give this another shot…"

"Thank you so much," he sighed in relief, pulling her even closer until she was almost pressed into him. Before pushing her away and getting ready to leave. "I really need some sleep now though. I'm going to have so much fucking work to do tomorrow…"

"No, no you're not," Lydia smirked, before grabbing and kissing him hard and pulling him to the closest room with a bed in it. "I'm sure they can wait another day for you while we get to know each other again…"

End of story (almost), epilogue left now.
