Oh, hello... so, how long has it been? Two months... wow, oops. Sorry! :/

I've been so, so very blocked and busy... mostly blocked. Anyway, I worked hard on this chapter so I hope you enjoy it! And reviews inspire me to push myself to write no matter how blocked I am! So review! :)

Chapter 11: Jess's POV

Jack and I walked silently to the hotel. Jack held my hand and sent me a comforting smile once in a while.

"Jack," I started, breaking the silence, "I can't... if you get hurt because of me, I wouldn't be able to live with myself... I need to handle my problems by myself."

"Jess, I told you, I don't care what happens to me," he told me, "I'm going to help you, you just have to let me."

I shook my head. "I don't want to let you," I said as I looked at the ground, "This is my own fault, this is my life, and I have to fix it."

"I'm not going to let you do this yourself, Jess," he squeezed my hand and I looked at him, "If I can help you, I'm going to."

I pulled my hand away and crossed my arms. "That's the same thing Kai told me," I muttered, "You can see how well that worked out..."

Jack stopped walking and turned me to face him, putting his hand on my shoulders. "I am not like Kai," he told me, "I actually care about my friends."

"Friends? Is that all we are?" I asked, slight pain in my voice.

He was about to say anything but I said, "You know what, forget it, it was a stupid question... I gotta go." I turned around and put my hands in my pockets as I started to walk back the way we came.

"Where are you going?" Jack asked me, "You have to talk to the police, Jess."

"Don't want to," I replied over my shoulder, "Not going to... Not yet anyway. The tournament starts soon; Kim needs you there."

I looked around and kept my head down; I started to run down the street and turned the corner.

"Jess!" I heard Jack call.

I pressed my back against the building I was next to and, when Jack didn't come after me, ran to my old house.

Police tape was on the door and no one went near it. I snuck around to the back door and went in. I walked through the kitchen and to the living room. There were bloodstains on the floor. A memory returned but I quickly pushed it out of my mind.

I closed my eyes for a moment and ran upstairs to my mom and stepdad's room. "He kept something hidden in here..." I mumbled, "but where...?"

I started to go through the closet, looking for anything unusual, but I found nothing. I looked around the room and my eyes landed on the bed. I got down on my hands and knees and felt around under the bed.

I felt a notch on the floor and pushed it up. I moved the piece of wood and reached into the secret hiding spot. I pulled out a piece of paper and looked at it. It was a list of names, some of them I recognized.

"Murder victims and their children..." I said as my mind raced with thoughts. I connected some of the pieces and realized that the people were Drake's victims. At the bottom of the list, I saw my parents' names along with mine.

"I'm sure the police would find this questionable..." I said to myself.

"Jess, what are you doing?" someone asked from behind me.

I froze. "Jack," I said, "I was just looking for something that might be able to help me prove I didn't do anything wrong."

I stood up and sat on the bed. "Find anything?" Jack asked as he sat next to me.

"I found a list of names, people Drake either killed or forced to do his dirty work," I started, "It's not much but if I could find a few of the people working for him, I'm sure I could convince them to tell the police what Drake did to them."

"And how would you be able to do that?" he asked.

"Well I could bribe them with money or promise them something they all want: freedom from Drake and seeing him behind bars," I explained.

I looked at the list again and my eyes widened slightly. "I know some of these people," I said, "That's... sad, actually, can't believe I never noticed it..."

"You're talking to yourself, Jess," Jack told me.

I glanced at him. "Sorry," I muttered, "I've gotta talk to a few of these people; go to the tournament, I'll be there as soon as I can."

I walked up to a house and knocked on the door hesitantly. The door opened and I saw a nineteen-year-old girl with dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes. "Jess," she said in shock, "I thought you left China."

"I did, I'm back for the karate championship," I replied, "I need to talk to you, Martha, about someone you know..."

"Who?" she asked, glancing around worriedly.

"Drake Baker," I said.

She froze and said quietly, "You shouldn't be here."

"You know him more than you let on, don't you?" I guessed, "He married your mom right after your dad died when you were twelve. He abused you then killed your mom, didn't he?"

"What are you doing here, Jess?" Martha asked.

I lowered my voice, "I know you work for Drake, I know he has people watching you, and I know that you want him locked up just as much as I do."

She looked interested in what I was saying and let me. I sat on the couch and she closed the curtains.

"If you want to be free from Drake, get two people from this list and meet me at the police station in half an hour," I told her as I handed her a copy of the list I found earlier, "And bring proof that Drake is responsible for my parents' death."

"Why would I have proof that he killed your parents?" Martha asked.

"Drake keeps files of everyone he works with, you keep track of those files. I need mine," I looked at the clock, "Will you help me?"

She thought for a minute then said, "If it means getting Drake put away for good, yes."

I got up and walked to the door. "Good," I began, "And one more thing, I know you've been told to tell Drake about my every move, but if you tell him I came to see you, or what I'm planning, then Drake will be the least of your problems. Understand?"

Martha nodded hesitantly and I left.

Ok, so once again, I hope you enjoyed and once again I apologize for it taking me so long to update!
