Looking at himself in the mirror Hunter adjusted his tie, he had adjusted it so much it was starting to cut off the blood supply to his head. Loosening the tie before he thrust his hands into his pockets he had fifteen minutes to kill before he had to leave but right now he was going crazy with nerves.

Adjusting her dress as she pulled it on Stephanie looked at herself in the mirror, did she look too cheap? Not really in the mood to change she grabbed a leather jacket from her closet to put on top to give it a more relaxed look and to make her feel more comfortable. Throwing her leather jacket on the bottom of her bed she sat down at her vanity table and picked up her curling iron to put some curls through her hair. Once she had finished her hair she grabbed her jacket and purse and made her way downstairs to wait.

Arriving at Stephanie's just before half past seven Hunter opened the passenger door and grabbed the flowers from the seat before he walked to the front door knocking on it gently.

Jumping at the sound of a knock on the door she looked at her watch to see that he was early. Walking to the front door she pulled it open gently surprised to be greeted by Hunter in a suit and carrying flowers. Looking at the floor she blushed, "hi."

Smiling softly he held out the flowers to her, "hi, these are for you."

Taking the flowers from him she breathed in their scent smiling softly, "they are beautiful, thank you."

Shrugging his shoulders he didn't really know what to say that didn't sound cheesy so he just went with cheesy, "they're not half as beautiful as you are."

Blushing she turned around, "come in a minute whilst I put these flowers in water and grab my purse and then we can go."

Nodding his head he followed her inside shutting the door behind him before he followed her hand direction to the lounge stepping inside to wait for her. As he walked through the lounge door he was immediately taken by the pictures on the mantelpiece and walked over to view them.

Putting the flowers in a vase she set them on the island to find a proper home for them tomorrow before she walked back into the lounge to see Hunter looked at the pictures, "like what you see?"

Jumping at the sound of her voice he spun around to face her smiling softly, "I was just admiring the pictures, you've not changed at all."

Shrugging her shoulders she pulled on her leather jacket before she grabbed her purse, "physically I may not have changed much but emotionally I have changed a lot and I have grown up a hell of a lot also so I'm not the same person you knew. If you want to date the person I was then you may aswell leave now and safe us both the headache."

Moving across the room he went to reach for her hands but stopped himself and pushed his hands into his pockets, "I don't want to date the old you, no offence to the old you. I have grown up and changed a lot since our time together back then and, no offence again, I wouldn't want to go back to the person that I was because I think my family actually like me now."

Smiling softly she couldn't help herself and she reached to adjust the lapels of his jacket so they were neat, "no offence taken. I guess now we have that sorted we should leave so we don't miss our reservation."

Nodding his head he moved away from her and towards the door before stopping, "before we leave I just wanted to say thank you for this opportunity, I could never thank you enough for giving me a second chance to prove that I am a changed man."

Tilting her head from side to side she had never seen him be so open with her before, "well before you thank me let's just see how this evening goes shall we?"

Chuckling softly he smiled, "if that's how you feel I'll just thank you at the end of the evening then."

Laughing she shook her head before she made her way to the door, "if we make it to the end of the evening then sure."

Walking to the front door they made their way outside. Standing to the side as he watched her lock her front door he then led her towards his car opening the passenger door allowing her to climb inside before he shut the door behind her and walked around to the driver's side climbing in and starting the car before they took off in the direction of the restaurant.

Pulling up outside of the restaurant Hunter turned off the engine before he turned a little in his seat to look at her, "I've never been here before, they're not snobby are they?"

Laughing softly she shrugged her shoulders, "I haven't got a clue. I haven't been out for dinner on my own or with another adult since before Mikey was born and this is a relatively new place but I have heard so many good things about it that I thought it was worth a shot."

Raising his eyebrow a little he smirked, "so if it is terrible I can blame you and if it is great then who do I blame?"

"You can take full credit for it, I don't mind."

"Well how could I possibly say no to that?" Winking at her playfully he climbed out of the car quickly hurrying around the other side to open her door.

Feeling herself blushing as he winked at her she ducked her head and looked down at her lap playing with the strap of her purse.

Opening the door for her he wondered if he had somehow offended her as she wasn't looking at him or anything, "I didn't offend you did I?"

Raising her head she looked at him oddly, "offended me how? I'm not that easily offended you know."

Shrugging his shoulders he wasn't sure why, it was just a gut feeling, "I don't know how, I was just worried about nothing I guess."

Stepping aside as he shut the door she smiled softly at him, "just relax okay? If you don't relax tonight is going to be like pulling teeth as you'll be too afraid of offending or upsetting me that you won't say anything at all."

Locking the car he turned around and looked up at the restaurant not wanting to watch her, "what if I do offend you though?"

Not able to help herself Stephanie slipped her hand into his and held it, "don't worry. If you're a changed man as you say you are then you won't say anything that offends me and even if you do I won't hold it against you because I'm as nervous as you apparently are."

Looking down at their joined hands he felt his heart soar and a small bit of hope that maybe, just maybe, she did still feel the same way that he did, "I'm not nervous, I'm terrified."

Laughing she stepped closer to him, "you and me both. We shouldn't be nervous though, we've done all of this before."

"Yeah and look how that ended. I want things to be better this time, I want to be wi . . ." Trailing off he realised if he finished his sentence he'd come on a bit too strong for a first date, "let's go inside."

Curious about what he was going to say she decided to just let it go for now and she would tackle him on it afterwards if it all went well, "deal."

Moving her purse up onto her shoulder she walked side by side into the restaurant still holding hands. It may be seen to some as moving fast but to her it felt right.
