You Shouldn't Have Left

I sat on the couch looking at the ground; Jack sat next to me, I could hear his apologizes and him crying but I blocked him out, I didn't need his help, I raised Sadie for 5 years without him, I wipe the mascara off of my cheeks and stand up
"Jack leave now, It's too late for you to try to make amends, you have played with my heart to many times, never visit me or call me again, stay away from Sadie and I, I hope to never see you in my home again" I looked up at his face just enough to see the pain in his eyes, he truly looked broken
"Please let me explain, I can make up for it I swear, Kim let me try"
I didn't say anything, I just shook my head
"I'm sorry Jack but I've heard it before"
"Can I at least have one hug before I leave? He asked choking down tears; I nodded and walked toward him
I placed my hands around his neck and he put his around my waist, he gripped me so tight; I could tell he was broken, I heard a quiet screech come out of Jacks mouth; like he was trying really hard not to scream, he pulled away and that's when I noticed his arms…
Scars covered them, most of which were old but there were a few new ones; his eyes followed my gaze and he screamed and fell to the ground, he pulled his sleeves down and he covered his face and cried, some of his tears mixed with screaming, I could barely speak
"Jack…" I felt tears flow down my cheeks and my eyes started to sting
"You wouldn't understand" He said through tears and moaning
"No Jack… I do…" I said as I started to cry
I pulled up my sleeves to reveal past scars, some very deep
He looked up and started to cry; he gently moved his fingers over them, he slowly lifted his head and looked me in the eyes
"Did I do this?..." I looked at the ground
"I didn't know what to do… You had left me and I was so lost… I stopped a little before I had Sadie, I didn't want her thinking it was okay" I cried
"I….. Kim…" He cried a little bit louder and stood up
"I'm sorry…" he walked out the door, once he got off the lawn he ran down the block
"JACK!" I screamed after him and ran out the door, I chased him, he ran across the street and I followed after him, he turned around and his face went white
"KIM!" He yelled, I looked to the left of me to see a black jeep two feet away, before I could react I felt the impact of the car hitting my ribs, a jolt of pain rushed up my spine and flowed through the rest of my body, I felt myself plunge into the air and my head scrap the top of the asphalt, then everything went black.
I woke up in a hospital gown with many bandages, I felt my head; there was a tight bandage around it, I slightly tilted my head and regretted it immediately, I got a huge Migraine, the pain was unbearable, I screamed and tried to sit up; but the pain was stopping me, my lungs felt like they were on fire, I heard the door open and a nurse ran in
"What happened to me!?" I scream, fighting the nurse as she tries to keep me down
"Ma'am please stay still, You have broken your rib and you left leg, you have cut open your face and head please sit still I don't want you to hurt yourself even more"
"I'm not sitting still until I know where my daughter is!" I screamed and fought
"She is with your friend Grace! Now please calm down before you rip open one of your stitches!"
I stopped fighting and lied still,
"You have a visitor, named Jack Brewer; would you like to see him"
I hesitated for a second
"No, I just want to see my Daughter" I said calmly, I knew Jack was just going to apologize and cry, I watched the nurse leave the room; I heard voices and a scream, I knew it was Jack, I'm not sure if it's what I heard but I swear I heard a faint 'I love you!' from Jack before they made him leave the hospital.
