Chapter 28: Settling the Score: Rematch with the Dark Knight

Melona was listing to a imp telling her about the battle of Gridamas and Leo's victory in the capital. Melona grabbed the imp in anger and threw it far away, it disappeared in twinkle of a star.

"Well, this is just great!" Melona snapped at Airi and Menace. "The Spirit Vessel managed to save that foolish King of Gridamas, which means our plan to control this continent is now a bust!"

"It's like I said before, Melona, but you don't listen. Leonhardt is stronger than any of Lord Summerill and Mistress Werbellia's minions or perhaps the two of them." Airi sighed.

"And did that imp say Leonhardt is on his way here?! We got to beat him this time!" Menace proclaimed.

Melona turned her head sharply to face the Dark Knight who was silent and looking at the land on the mountains. "This is your fault, Dark Knight! What makes you so special that Lord Summerill and Mistress Werbellia put you in charge of this operation, huh?!" She snapped at the mysterious and evil dark warrior of Summerill. The Dark Knight remained silent as he turned to face the Swamp Trio, without an moment too soon, he unsheathed his blade and pointed it at them which made them recoil in shock.

"W-Why are you pointing your sword at us like that?!" Menace sweat dropped in fear. Airi turned around and saw that Leo and the gang have already arrived.

"He's here..." Airi told her companions, her two compatriots turned and saw Leo and the gang glaring at them and the Dark Knight.

"The Dark Knight!" Leo frowned as he got his hand on his blade.

"And those idiotic three!" Chris growled as she and her fellow Symphogears transformed. So did Renee, Neptune, Noire and Vert.

The ones who didn't meet the Dark Knight before stared at this evil being.

"So that's the Dark Knight..." Asuna whispered as she gripped her sword.

"He doesn't look like a threat to me. He's gonna be easy!" Aria boasted as she twirled her guns and pointed them at the Dark Knight.

"My battle began after our first meeting. My life was taken, but I have my soul so I can live again. I no longer hold any regret, but I shall not give up this life again until I have destroyed you, the root of evil! I shall fulfill my destiny here. We shall settle everything here and now! To arms!" Leo shouted as he unsheathed his sword, a glowing aura appeared around him, one of holy light. With that. he charged at the Dark Knight and slashed him across the chest.

"W-What the hell?!" Melona gawked as her eyes turned white dotted before she was punched in the face by Borgnine.

The Dark Knight was pushed back by Leo's new found god like power. He and Leo clashed swords for about 2 minutes until Leo got the upper hand and slashed his dark adversary across the chest.

The Dark Knight launched dark energy arrows at Leo, but the Spirit Vessel was able to dodge them with amazing accuracy and slams his sword down to make a earth shockwave which hit the Dark Knight for large damage.

"Whoa! Leo is stronger than before!" Bart gasped in awe. "And he's giving this Dark Knight fella hell!"

"Y-Yeah, I guess..." Tokai muttered as he slashed Menace across the chest.

"You pheasant!" Menace growled as she threw a spirit punch at him, but it was blocked by Lloyd as he used Tiger Blade to give Menace some damage.

Back to the duel between Leo and the Dark Knight, Leo slashed the Dark Knight 10 times, giving his opponent a hard time.

The Dark Knight charged at Leo, intending to cut off his head, but his wrist was grabbed by Renee's whip.

"Renee?" Leo turned to Renee in question.

"We're in this together, Leo. Even if you return your life to Dyshana, know this I will always stand by your children's side!" Renee smiled warmly as she gave Leo a chance to attack the Dark Knight, he slashed the Dark Knight five times.

Ellis casts spells on the Swamp Trio, giving them some hurt.

Leo slashed the Dark Knight five times again and gave him a upper slash.

Aria and Alice D. fired guns at Airi, giving her some hurt in which her trinket was forced to heal.

Leo's aura glowed brightly as he shouted "Howling Blade!" He slams his blade down, a powerful shockwave that blown Melona, Menace and Airi into the sky, they screamed as they disappeared in a twinkle of a star.

The Dark Knight was greatly damaged by this, he tried to block it, but was hurt really bad. He held his chest and dropped his blood red sword.

Leo glared at his foe who was near the cliff. With a heroic scream he charged at the Dark Knight and slashed him, which blown the Dark Knight off the cliff, falling to his death, or so they thought. Leo panted heavily as Fyuria ran up to her lover and helped him up.

"Is it over?" Ellis asked hopefully.

"He may have a god's strength, but I doubt he could survive a fall like that. It seems we have seen the last of the Dark Knight..." Neptune in HDD form smirked as she and her fellow CPUs returned to normal form.

Leo remained silent as Dyshana walked up to him and told him "Leonhardt, you have one more destiny to fulfill on this continent. Do you know what it is?"

Leo nodded and answered "I returned my life to you."

Dyshana shook her head. "No, you must do one more thing before that. I hope you have not forgotten..."

Leo, Renee and Ellis were silent as Dyshana spoke those words.

(Meanwhile...)

The five Dark Generals watched Leo's battle with the Dark Knight, they were accompanied by a larger figure in shadows, a monstrous figure.

"Arghhhhh! Damn it! I knew it! That 'special' Dark Knight failed to kill those bastards and get the trinkets!" Arfoire growled angrily in the shadows.

"So, it seems they have made some progress. Lord Summerill, what should we do?" The snake man's voice asked with a dark tone.

"Leave them be until they reached the next contienent with the next heir to the Ragian bloodline. It is time we gathered an army from other worlds and dimensions." The large shadowy being known as the Demon King Summerill chuckled evilly.
