Linda had turned her cell phone off because she had an important strategy meeting for her campaign all morning. When she eventually got out of the meeting she was fully expecting to have a million voice mails from her husband and or her daughter because they both had a knack of wanting her when she was unavailable. As she turned her phone on and saw that she had a voice mail she immediately dialled the retrieval number to make sure everything was okay but when she heard the voice of the person behind the voice mail she was shocked, what did Hunter want with her?

Having an hour spare for lunch she immediately called him back to see what she could help him with.

Frustrated at the complete lack of anything from Stephanie Hunter had to resist the urge to drive to her house and camp out on her doorstep until he got some satisfactory answers whilst he waited for Linda to call him back. When his phone started to ring he quickly picked it up hoping that it was Stephanie but when he saw Linda's name he was a little disappointed but he was also hopeful that she would be able to help him out, "hi Linda, thank you for calling me back."

Hearing the sad tone in his voice didn't fill Linda with great joy that she was about to hear some wonderful news, "hi Hunter. It's not a problem, what can I do for you though?"

"Do you know if I have somehow pissed Stephanie off please?"

Laughing a little she thought he was a little crazy, "not that I know of, why?"

Although he didn't want to think he had pissed Stephanie off he had hoped that it was that so it could be fixed, "you know that we went out on a date on Friday night right?"

Chuckling he must be crazy if he thought that she wouldn't know, "oh I know, don't worry. I thought it all went quite well."

"You and me both. I texted her a few times over the weekend and got no response so I tried calling her today but she keeps sending my calls to voice mail."

Sighing softly she had a fair idea of what may be going on but she didn't know anything for certain, "are you sure she's not just busy and is accidentally missing your calls?"

"I wish. The first call it seemed like she may have as it rang out forever before it went to voice mail but I have tried her a couple of times since and the call has been quickly diverted to voice mail after ringing once or more times."

Well there went that idea of it being accidental, she was clearly avoiding the poor guy, "well as far as I am aware you haven't done anything to piss her off however it does sound like she is avoiding you. Keep trying her throughout the day, maybe once an hour but not the exact same time each hour, and see if you get through. I will drop by Stephanie's on my way home to see if I can get to the bottom of this without being too obvious so if you do get to speak to her before then let me know please."

Relieved that she was willing to help he had something to look forward to now, "I will for sure, thank you Linda, I really appreciate it."

Smiling softly she was pleased to be able to put his mind at ease slightly, "you're very welcome, I always look for an excuse to go and see my Grandson anyway so this is as good a reason as any. Good luck though Hunter, you may need it."

Frowning he didn't like the sound of that but he would work his ass off to prove himself to her if he had to, "thanks Linda and good luck with all of the campaigning."

"Thanks Hunter, I'll speak to you later I'm sure. Bye."

Both of them hung up the phone whilst Hunter went to occupy himself somehow for the afternoon Linda went to get herself some lunch before she had to get back to it.

After working hard all morning Stephanie shut her laptop down and put the papers away before she went to get some lunch ready for herself and Mikey and contemplated what to do with him for the afternoon.

Once they had had lunch Stephanie pushed her chair back, "so I was thinking that maybe we could go to the science museum for the afternoon, what do you think Mikey?"

His eyes widened and he practically flew out of his chair, "yay. Cans we p'ease?"

Chuckling she nodded her head, "we sure can. Why don't you go and get your shoes ready and we will leave once I've put these dishes away."

Eagerly running off to get his shoes Mikey was excited to get out of the house and go to the science museum as last time he had gone he had had so much fun.

Watching as her son ran away excitedly she wondered where he got his energy from sometimes because just watching him made her exhausted. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher she was just closing the door when her cell phone started to ring again. Picking up the phone from where it was dancing on the top she rolled her eyes when she saw it was from Hunter and just rejected the call before she put it into her pocket and went to get her own shoes.

Twenty minutes later and the two of them were on their way to the science museum for some fun and education.

After spending a good few hours at the museum Stephanie looked at her watch, "come on you, we need to get home and get some dinner before you have to go to bed."

Frowning Mikey shook his head, "noooo, stay."

Chuckling she bent down in front of him, "we can't stay, they're going to be closing soon but you know we can always come back another day."

"'Morrow?"

Shaking her head she wished, "no, not tomorrow. How about instead of going home to get dinner we eat out? That way Mommy doesn't have to do the dishes and you can have whatever you want for dinner."

Nodding his head he was happy with that, "kay kay."

Taking Mikey's hand she led him out of the museum and back to the car so they could go and get some dinner.

Linda finished work on her campaign by six and as soon as she was done she made her way across town to Stephanie's. Pulling up outside the front door she got out of her car and went to knock on the door surprised when she received no answer so she knocked again and again there was no sound from inside. Taking out her cell phone she called Stephanie's home phone number and got the answer phone which meant that she would have to be out of the house. Knowing that it was soon to be Mikey's bedtime Linda made her way back to the car and took a seat to wait for her to return, she was not going to get away with anything tonight, she was not in the mood to be nicey nice to her when she was clearly trying to prevent herself from being happy.
