Hunter dropped his luggage off in the locker room before he immediately exited again to go and see if the ring was up and usable. Walking out onto the top of the ramp he sighed softly seeing that they were putting the ropes on, he was really hoping it would be ready because he wanted to do what Mikey wanted to do but he wasn't sure how much spare time he would have later.
Making his way down to the ring Hunter leant on the apron, "hey guys. How long do you think you'll be before we can like get in the ring and stuff?"
Looking at his watch the one guy then looked at what was left to do, "I'd say it'll probably be like another ten or fifteen minutes. Is that okay?"
Pushing himself off the apron he nodded his head, "that's great, thanks for that guys."
As Hunter walked off all of the guys looked at each other, Hunter was being nice and that definitely made them nervous because it rarely happened although it had been more frequent lately.
After leaving the ringside area Hunter made his way backstage and went straight for Stephanie's office. Knocking on the door as it was closed he waited for someone to let him in.
Vince was so wrapped up in Mikey that he had no idea that Stephanie had even left the room. When there was a knock at the door he was waiting for Stephanie to let them in but when there was silence he looked up surprised to see that they were alone, "uh, come in."
Hearing an invitation in Hunter pushed the door open, "hey. I was just coming by to see if in about five minutes you wanted to go down to the ring and we could play around before anyone else wants the ring?"
Mikey immediately nodded his head, "cans we please Poppy?"
Vince nodded his head, "we sure can. We'll have to leave Mommy a note because she has disappeared but we can most certainly go and play in the ring for a little bit."
"Well we'll play and you can watch Vince."
Rolling his eyes Vince shook his head, "not you aswell."
Laughing Hunter shrugged, "I just don't want to get in trouble."
Getting up from his seat Vince shook his head, "she has you whipped so bad."
Mikey giggled, "who whipped?"
Vince ruffled his hair, "it's nothing for you to worry about Mikey."
Walking over to the desk he wrote Stephanie a quick note informing her where they were making sure that it was clearly visible before he turned back around, "come on then Mikey, let's get going before Mommy comes back and says we're not allowed."
Grabbing both of his monkeys Mikey held them close and followed his Grandpa and Hunter out of the office.
As they walked down the corridor Mikey held the monkeys under his one arm before he grabbed Hunter's hand.
Vince was watching Mikey and when he grabbed Hunter's hand he knew exactly how the little boy felt and to see Hunter gripping his hand back it warmed his heart to see him being so gentle with him.
Keeping a grip on Mikey's hand Hunter led him onto the ramp but the second he saw all of the tools scattered across the floor he stopped and turned to Mikey, "hey little man. Are you okay with me picking you up and carrying you down to the ring? I don't want you getting hurt on these tools and I don't want your Grandpa to hurt his heart."
Letting go of Hunter's hand he raised his one arm, "pick up."
Smiling softly he bent down and carefully picked the little boy up making sure he had a good grip on him before he walked over the tools and down towards the ring.
Trailing behind Hunter Vince wasn't feeling so worried about Stephanie telling him the truth now he got to see them together first hand. Carefully stepping over the tools he followed them down to the ring watching as Hunter placed Mikey on the apron and helped him climb inside the ropes.
Once Vince was beside him and Mikey was safely in the ring Hunter said, "why don't you show your Grandpa what you taught Bubbles and Monkey to do?"
Quickly dropping Monkey to the floor he took Bubbles and walked him across the ring.
Watching as his Grandson was preoccupied with showing him what he had taught Bubbles to do Vince turned to Hunter, "can I ask you a question?"
Briefly looking at Vince he nodded his head not sure if he would like the question, "you can most certainly ask it but we'll see if I answer it."
"When you burst into the office earlier you had heard that I was here and you assumed that I was back and Stephanie wasn't here and she hadn't told you that she wouldn't be here anymore so you panicked right?"
Reluctantly he nodded his head, "okay yes, that is the truth. I know we've not been talking this past week as much as we have because I was up to my eyeballs in work and promotion and didn't have the time. Last week on our date we kissed and I just panicked thinking she regretted it and she hated me now or something."
Vince looked back at his daughter's boyfriend and the sincerity and honesty he saw on his face surprised him, "you really want this to work don't you?"
"Yes, more than anything in the world. I kind of love her and don't want to lose her so I'm panicking a lot that I may be doing the wrong thing and she'll hate me and she'll call it off."
Shaking his head he felt bad that he was panicking so much, "relax, she's not mad at you so you don't need to worry. Stephanie understands that you have your job to do just like you understand that she has her job to do and she has Mikey to take care of."
"Yeah but . . . okay I realise I'm just imagining the worst but it's hard not to when things went so badly between us before and when I got a second chance that I never thought I would get."
Clapping his hands as Mikey forced Bubbles to do a moonsault off the top rope he quickly turned his attention to Hunter, "stop imagining the worst and just go with it, if you do wrong she won't be afraid to tell you."
"Do you promise?"
Vince nodded his head, "I promise."
Just then Mikey stood in front of them, "Hunner comes and helps make Monkey do dat fing please."
Chuckling Hunter climbed onto the apron, "sure, not a problem. Maybe once we've shown your Grandpa all of the things we've taught the monkeys to do we can run around a little if you'd like."
Mikey eagerly nodded his head and thrust Monkey towards Hunter, "I likes lot. You watching Poppy?"
Vince nodded his head smiling at the way Hunter was acting like a real Father so eager to give Mikey whatever he wanted, "I'm watching."
Stepping back he leant against the railing and just watched the two of them messing about together in the ring.
