Hey guys, how are you doing? I finally updated, and i hope there still are people out there who are reading... There is happening a lot in this chapter, so sorry if it seems a bit rushed, but it was either this or waiting a hole week more...
misswinterandsnow: got it this is awesome well written and updated. I think that at least I am wondering (knock on wood) when is the fanfic going to end DO NOT GET ANY IDEAS! will they join the x-men within the fanfic?
- At the beginning i was actually thinking about ending it here, but then i realized that would be cruel of me. Besides, i still have some more to tell ;)
I don't own X men...
Miami. A big, beautiful city, with wonderful beaches and a fairly high temperature. Normally I would had been grateful for the nice weather, but not when I'm covered in Black from head to toe, and to make it worse had a complaining elf to help me remember exactly how hot it was…
"Keety, stop walking so fast!" He once again yelled to me, who was far ahead. All his complaining made me wanna walk even faster, but my own lack of energy gave me no other choice than to obey to his wish.
"If we keep on in this slow speed we'll never get there." I answered a little annoyed.
"But it's so hot… Can't we take a break, pleease?"
"I'm sweating too Blue, but you don't hear me complain. Besides, Italy was also a warm place, so you should be used to it, at least a bit."
"Well ja, but back in Italy I weren't forced to wear anything but shorts. All this clothes is killing me! I'm sweating so badly, and I'm thirsty! You sure we didn't have any more water? And what about food, we need food too!"
"You're hungry, you're thirsty, you're sweating, well I have to pee, but that's too bad, because we aren't gonna stop now, so pull yourself together already!"
"That's easy for you to say, you aren't running around with a wet fur, you have no idea how heavy it gets! Now come on, at least we could stop and get some water, or at least go for a swim at the beach, I mean come on, its right there!"
"Stop complaining!" I finally yelled.
"Fine, but if I collapses of dehydration because you forbade me water, then that's your fault, not mine!" He yelled back.
"Listen Kurt, I have been waiting for this in a long time. It's very important to me, and therefore I have to get there, with or without you!"
"So, you don't think this is important to me? It is Kätzchen, it's important to both of us, but what good would it be, if we ended up dead before we got there. Miami city hall isn't right around the corner, we still have a lot of walking to do, and I'm exhausted! If you wanna go on without me, then fine, I don't care if I'll have to stay here, as long as you promise to come back and get me." He sat down in protest, unwilling to go as much as one step further.
"…Okay fine, we'll take a short break. Now I'll go and look for a restroom, then you can try and find a place out of direct sunlight and with as few people as possible."
"Finally! But, how are we supposed to communicate with each other?"
"Here, think fast!" I then took a Walkie talkie out of my almost empty backpack and threw it at Kurt. He wasn't ready to catch anything, so he ended up tumble around with it. I then took a second one up.
"And where exactly did you get these things?"
"From Dainan, he has a lot of weird things. Now if anything happens, or if we have to know where any of us is, then we'll use these."
"But, didn't you have a phone?"
"Yes I do, one phone, not two. Now get going, I'll call you in a second to get your destination."
"Right, see you…"
We then headed in two different directions. I was still the one with the map, so finding a toilet wasn't going to be too hard, finding free water on the other hand wasn't going to be easy. Kurt was suffering from the heat, and I couldn't really blame him, so asking him to run around looking for liquid would just be plain evil. He needed to sit down and relax, so I would be the one to find supplies…
I walked around for a while before I finally found a toilet, and as soon as that was done, I headed to the near beach. Someone told me long ago, that people sometimes offered free water at places like that, so I had to at least try. Unfortunately I was still as lucky as always: No water. I kept walking around, hoping to actually find something, and at the end the heat just took over, and I had to take of my hoodie. I didn't look like Kurt, so if I were really lucky, no one would know who I was. I still had to be careful though, since mutants had become outlaws.
I gave up an hour later and contacted Blue to get a location. He wasn't far away, so I leaved the beach to find him…
I was a monster, a complete and utterly monster. I found him sitting up against the wall in a little alley. He was dehydrated, awake, but not in good health. It felt like these things always happened to him, not caused low immune system, but the fact that I always pushed him to his limits. It was my fault yet again. He had been complaining about the heat for hours, but I hadn't been listening. I had been selfish once again…
I rushed to his rescue, pulled of his hoodie, and tried to get some eye contact with him, but it didn't work. His gaze was unfocused, his lips were dry, and he had problems with breathing. I let his shirt on the ground so he had something soft to lie on, and then pulled my own one out of the backpack to lay it underneath his feet. He had found a place where not a single human was in sight, and that at least, was a relief.
I wasn't happy to just leave him like that, but I still needed to find water. I managed to get inside a little café, and when I told the owner that my friend was seriously dehydrated, he gave me a bottle of… Water! Finally!
I headed back to Blue to finally give him some liquid, and he surely accepted it. The man had been seriously generous, and had filled my bag up with water bottles. The first thing I did was to get him to drink a bit, and then I let a whole bottle fall on his body. There didn't go long before he came back to normal, or as normal as he could be, and then thanked me for the little shower.
It was getting late, so we ended up staying there for the night…
We were on our way again the very next day. We walked for hours with empty stomachs, but at least we had water. Then Kurt asked a really good question: "What do we do when we get there? We have no pass, no medical card, no nothing. How do you suppose we can get them to tell us anything?"
"I don't know, ask them nicely?"
"Are you serious? Have we been traveling this far for nothing?"
"Well no, I mean, they only needs to tell us where a family with the last name Pryde live, nothing more or less."
"Then I really hope that works, or else I'll make sure to drink all the water so you can't get any!"
"Now you're just childish!"
"I am not! I'm serious!"
"Fine, whatever, we're here!"
We stood right outside the big white house, and inside laid all our hopes and dreams…
"What are we waiting for elf, let's get inside!"
I took his hand in mine, as I phased through the wall closest to us. There were guards guarding the front door, so that meant we had to find another way in, and that just happened to be phasing.
Inside the building was way more confusing than I first thought, so we had to run around, trying to find the ones whose position was to keep track of the population in Miami. When we finally found it and persuaded her to tell us where my family lived, an unimaginable and impossible answer was given: The only family with the last name Pryde had gone underground only a year from now. It felt unreal. The people I had been searching for the last couple of years weren't within reach. All this years now seemed wasted…
I had to call Tatiana and Tinka, they had to know exactly where we were. They had to come and save us from this nightmare. I called, Tinka answered, but yet again I didn't get the answer I needed to hear at that exact time: They weren't in New York anymore; they were heading for California, all of them. In other words that meant we now were trapped in Miami. I was panicking when a sudden noise erupted my thoughts. A well known voice talked through the speaker, and it wasn't a friendly voice I head…
"Hello Kitty, I know you're in there, I know both of you are. Did you really think that I wouldn't find you? I knew were you were all along, I just waited for the right time to strike. You are surrounded Kitty, now come out here like a nice little girl, and maybe, just maybe I won't kill you…
