Entering her office Stephanie shut the door firmly behind her, walking over to her bookcase she pulled out a few books before she removed the key from the wall and walked over to her desk. Sitting down at her desk she sighed and put the key in the drawer and slowly turned it in the lock listening as the loud click reverberated around the room, pulling open the drawer she pulled out the stack of papers before she shut and locked the drawer again.
Setting the papers on her desk she started to flick through them as her eyes filled with tears, she was utterly petrified about how he was going to take this but she had to do this or she would never truly be happy. Getting up from her seat she left the key on the desk and grabbed the papers before she took a deep breath and exited the room.
Having finished the dishes Hunter had dried them and put them all away and was now leaning on the island waiting for his girlfriend to return trying to work out exactly what was taking her so long. He was beginning to think that it might be a good idea to just leave her to it as something was clearly bothering her and he didn't want to push things too fast with her. Deciding to cut his losses for the evening he pushed himself away from the island and went to walk out of the kitchen when he heard her coming back towards him so he leant back against the island and waited.
Walking into the kitchen she gulped when she saw him stood there watching her, "I have something for you."
Raising his eyebrow he didn't put his brain into action before he opened his mouth, "a kiss?"
"This is serious Hunter, I am not joking around with you."
Sighing softly he gulped, "I'm sorry, it was reflex. What is it that you have for me?"
Holding out the stack of letters she bit her lip, "so um I need you to read these."
Taking the papers from her he shrugged his shoulders, "not a problem. Do you need me to read them now or later or by a specific time or date or what?"
If she was going to lose him for good she needed him to hold her one last time before she did, "later, preferably when you're home alone. Can you hold me now though?"
He never thought he would hear her say that tonight so he was more than happy to oblige, "I would love to, as long as you don't need to do some work or something."
Shaking her head she took his hand, "I don't." Pulling on his arm she dragged him towards the lounge to take a seat on the couch together.
Turning on the TV as he passed by it Hunter took a seat on the couch and watched as she fell down beside him instantly cuddling close into his side, "please don't let go."
Sliding his arms tightly around her waist he held on kissing the top of her head as she lay it on his chest, "whatever you want beautiful."
Over an hour later and Stephanie was yawning a lot so Hunter knew it was time for him to leave, "I guess I should let you go to bed so I will head home. I have house shows tomorrow and Sunday so I won't see you again until Monday but I'll call you?"
Biting down on her lip she reluctantly nodded her head, "don't forget to read the papers okay?"
Nodding his head he picked the papers up from the coffee table and waved them at her, "I promise I will read them. I will be going home and reading them now so I can procrastinate about packing for the house shows."
Unable to help herself she laughed softly at his comment, "I see."
Standing up he reached his hand out towards her, "care to walk me to the door?"
Taking his hand as she stood up she nodded her head, "I would love to."
When they reached the door Hunter opened it with his free hand whilst Stephanie continued to cling to his other arm, "I will be leaving now but I will call you tomorrow possibly depending on what time I get to the arena or to the hotel or something but I'll definitely call you on Sunday."
Nodding her head sadly she watched him as he went to walk away with his arm slowly moving from her grip as his hand started to slide through hers but as it did so she gripped onto his fingers, "Hunter."
Turning back to face his girlfriend as she held onto his hand he smiled politely, "yes?"
Biting down on her lip she tilted her head to the side, "can you do something for me please?"
Nodding his head slowly he hoped she wasn't going to ask him to stay, "I can try, it depends what it is though."
Taking a deep breath she just started to talk, "if tonight is going to be the last night that we are going to be happy can you . . ."
Baffled by why she was talking about it being the last night for them to be happy he couldn't help but interrupt her, "what do yo . . ."
Not wanting him to ask the question or finish his sentence she put her finger to his lips and shook her head, "please don't talk, just listen. If tonight is going to be the last time that we are going to be happy and together then can we please finish it in a good way? Can you please give me some good memories to hold on to so I don't fall apart? Can you please kiss me?"
Not entirely sure why she was so worried about them not being happy after tonight but having a feeling that it was something to do with the pieces of paper she had given him he stepped closer and slid one arm around her waist and pulled her tight against his body. Leaning his forehead against hers he lifted his one hand to her cheek rubbing it gently with his thumb as he looked deep into her eyes, "I have no idea why you don't think we will be happy after tonight but whatever your reasons are I just want to say that I love you very much and I have no plans to be anything but happy with you."
Once he was satisfied that he had told her what he needed her to hear he pressed his lips against hers in a slow and unhurried kiss as his thumb continued to stroke her cheek feeling the wetness as she obviously cried.
Hearing him say that he loved her and he had no plans to be anything but happy with her hurt her heart and she couldn't help but cry as they kissed, she loved him so much and was beginning to regret giving him another chance.
Slowly pulling back from the kiss he peppered gentle kisses over her face before he pulled away completely, "don't cry beautiful, I love you and never forget it."
Turning around he walked to his car and reluctantly unlocked it and climbed in putting the papers on the passenger seat before he started the car and waved at her as he pulled away.
As soon as he had pulled away Stephanie walked back inside and shut and locked the front door before she walked into the lounge turning the television off before she walked out of the room shutting the light off as she went. Walking up the stairs she quickly stuck her head into Mikey's room checking on him and making sure he was fast asleep before she entered her bedroom and not even bothering to undress she crawled into bed and curled up against her pillow and cried her heart out.
