Chapter 7
Sakura groaned in annoyance as a voice pulled her out of her enchanting reverie. She barely comprehended her own name as the sound sluggishly made its way through her foggy consciousness.
"Sakura."
"Mmmmm..." came the drowsy reply as she wriggled to wedge herself tighter between her sheets and pillows.
Speaking of, this sheet was so wonderful! It was like satin on her skin. She didn't recall ever buying sheets this wonderful. It would have been a permanent attachment to her bed, and the pillows...wow! They were heavenly; soft as a marshmallow and fluffy as a cloud.
'When have my pillows ever been so comfortable?' she wondered sleepily. 'And my sheets too. I could stay here forever.'
"Sakura."
"Goway."
"Sakura," came the voice. This time, tinged with annoyance
"Noooooooo. Five more minuteeeessss. I doh wannaaa go to schoooooool!" Sakura whined.
"Sakura!" The increase in volume was accompanied by a shake that rattled her teeth and jarred her bones.
Sakura snapped awake and sat up in a hurry, which, unfortunately for the both of them, resulted in Sakura slamming her forehead smack into Itachi's, who was leaning over her.
They both fell back, clutching their foreheads and letting out groans of pain.
Sakura attempted to sit upright, all the while holding her forehead. "Itachi, I am so sorry! It's all my fault, I'm so clumsy!"
"Hn. It's fine. I came to inform you that breakfast will be served in fifteen minutes. You may wear your clothes from last night which have been laundered and left on the dresser until we can stop at your house and get you into suitable attire," replied Itachi, having regained himself.
"Thank you, Itachi."
Itachi nodded and left the room. Sakura noted his pristine black suit, all well cut and tailored. She also noticed, with a flush, how well his rippled body and broad shoulders filled out the suit. She would never be able to get that black shirt out of her mind. Not that she would want to. I mean come on, what girl in her right mind would want to forget such a drool-worthy sight.
'When the hell did he wake up?' Sakura wondered in bewilderment, having checked her phone and noticed it only being six thirty in the morning.
"That man is a robot. I can only hope that he doesn't drive me crazy when I start working for him," she muttered.
…
…
…
Her eyes widened. "Oh dear lord! That's today. Oh, hell! I need to hurry. I can't be late. Fiiiiiiigggggg trees!" she yelped as she proceeded to make her way into the bathroom, intending to strip and quickly take a shower.
Unfortunately, that didn't go quite as she planned. In her haste, she tripped over one of her shoes that she left lying about from last night and face planted into the wall. Groaning and swearing, she reversed and tried to go the other way only to trip on the other shoe which sent her sprawling to the ground. She got up in a rage and screamed at the shoe, and, with variety of colourful words, she sent both shoes hurling into the wall.
Throughout this process, the maids were waiting outside her door. They winced as they heard muffled thumps, thuds and curses. Cautiously approaching the door, Aika hesitantly knocked on the door.
"Mi-Sakura. Are you alright?" she asked worriedly.
"Bloody well and dandy! But these shoes better get themselves out of my sight right now! Goddamn creations from hell!" screamed Sakura.
"Sakura," Aika admonished. "You haven't the time to dawdle. You've already wasted an entire five minutes. You need to be down for breakfast in ten minutes. Master Itachi hates to wait."
Sakura's eyes widened and she attempted to make a beeline to the bathroom. Poor Sakura. Luck was not on her side this morning as she managed to, once again, trip over her shoes.
"Mother-f – "
"Oookkaaayyy, Sakura," Aiko interrupted, helping her up by her shoulders and herding her into the bathroom. "You need to relax. Go have a hot shower, you'll feel better after that. But hurry, please."
Sakura huffed and allowed herself to be led into the bathroom. As the door shut behind Aika, Sakura quickly stripped and stepped into the shower. She sighed in pleasure as the steaming water ran down her back and refreshed her for the harsh day ahead. Knowing her time was limited, she showered quickly and stepped out feeling revived. She wrapped herself in a towel, brushed her teeth with a toothbrush the maids had set out, combed her hair then strode into the bedroom and picked up the jeans and t-shirt on the bed.
"I thought Itachi said I was to wear the clothes from last night?" she asked Aiko.
"I figured this would have been more comfortable. Would you prefer your own clothes?" she asked worrying her lip.
"No. Thank you. This is way better," Sakura assured her, "I'll have to change before I get to work anyway."
Aiko nodded and she and her sister went to clean the bathroom, closing the door behind them. Sakura quickly slipped on the clothes without looking at them and then turned towards the bathroom.
"Where is the dining room?" she called.
"We must hurry. You're already late and the Master does not like tardiness." Aika bustled out and indicated for Sakura to follow her.
They stepped out into a long hall and she was led down the long hallway and down a grand staircase.
"How did I not notice this staircase light night? She questioned Aika in bewilderment.
"We led you up the other staircase. It's closer to your room and much simpler. It's easier to get to the dining room from here though. Besides, you were so dead on your feet, I doubt you'd remember anything other than dropping on that bed last night," she teased.
Sakura smiled back. "Perhaps you're right."
Aika led her down numerous tastefully decorated hallways and through several arched doorways until they arrived at a large arched entryway supported by two large black marble columns and Aika smiled and gestured for her to enter.
"I'll have your clothes sent to your house with the driver. You are to leave with the Master. I hope to see you again Sakura," she said, giving Sakura a tight hug.
"Bye, Aika. Thank you for everything. I hope to see you and your sister soon as well."
"Come back and visit. The Master will be pleased to see you as well," she winked and left, leaving Sakura confused.
Sakura shrugged and entered the dining room. Her eyes widened at the sight that greeted her. A large banquet styled table occupied most of the room with dozens of chairs surrounding it. The large table was laden with numerous fruits and breakfast foods. At one end, sitting with his ankle on his knee, was Itachi sipping coffee and busily tapping away at his laptop keyboard. He turned as she entered. Strangely enough, it seemed as if he had flushed slightly as he looked at her.
"You're late. I've already eaten. Hurry or we shall be late for work. First lesson: never be late," he said in a tone that she was sure had terrified many a person before her.
"Do you love speaking in point form or is it just a work thing?" she asked, sweetly sarcastic.
Itachi scowled at her. "Sit."
"I am not a dog," she retorted, even as she strode toward the table. She circled looking for the coffee. Upon locating it, she poured herself a cup and sighed blissfully as she took a sip. She leaned against the table and continued to sip her coffee, delighting in the smooth creamy texture of it.
"Eat," was the next command.
"Look dude, the last time I checked, I had two legs, common sense and hands. I...am...not...a...dog," she replied, emphasizing each word clearly. "Seriously, do you talk to all your employees like that?" she asked, snagging a donut off the table.
"Do you love infuriating all your bosses or is it just a getting fired thing?" he asked her, throwing her words back at her.
"Clever," she remarked, finishing her donut and coffee. "Are you ready to go, Boss?"
Itachi sighed in exasperation. He closed his laptop and stood up. He motioned for her to walk beside him. They walked together in silence until they reached the front door she definitely remembered from last night. The butler looked better composed this morning and bowed graciously as he held the door open for them. She tailed behind Itachi as he strode to a bigger limo than the one from last night which was purring gently at the end of the walk way. She looked around the front lawns, noticing for the first time, the beautiful flowers decorating either side of the walkway.
So absorbed in admiring the flowers was she that she hadn't noticed Itachi halting to a sudden stop right in front of her. She gasped as her nose slammed into Itachi's broad back. Sakura groaned as she held her nose and wondered why Itachi hadn't turned around. Peering around him, she noticed the door of the limo wide open and several faces peering out from inside.
"Deidara, Kisame, Shisui? What are you guys all doing here?" she asked, slightly tilting her head in confusion.
"We came to see you, doll," came Sasori's smooth voice came from inside the limo.
"Yes, baby. Come sit on my lap," purred Madara.
"Ewwwww! Uncle Madada wants Sakura-chan to sit on his lap. Uncle Madada is a pedophileeeee!" came Tobi's disgusted child-like voice.
"I'm not that old, you infuriating child!"
"Hey hag. Nice shirt." leered Hidan.
Sakura looked down at her shirt for the first time and noticed with no small degree of horror the printed letters on her shirt. 'Single and Lonely. Rich, Sexy Men Welcome to Try.'
'Damn Aiko!' she screamed mentally.
Sakura turned to look at Itachi. Itachi stood stock still with an expression of barely concealed horror on his face.
'Why does god hate me,' he bemoaned mentally.
