Hunter did spend the rest of the day with Stephanie and Mikey but it was more for Mikey's sake than Stephanie's because ever since he and Mikey had come in from outside she had been really funny with him and he didn't know why and he couldn't ask why either.
After finishing dinner Hunter helped put all of the dishes away before he decided it was time for him to leave, "well I think I need to get going as I have to pack for my new flight tomorrow morning. I had a lot of fun with you today Mikey, maybe we can do it again sometime if your Mom agrees?"
Mikey nodded his head, "I likes dat."
Stephanie knew she'd been funny with Hunter and she knew that he didn't deserve it so she didn't want him to leave just yet, not until she had a chance to clear the air with him, "could you maybe stay an hour longer please? Just until Mikey is in bed?"
He couldn't help it, the word just came out, "why?"
Sighing softly she looked down at the floor briefly, "I want to talk to you."
Knowing that she wanted to talk and hopeful that he would get answers he nodded his head, "okay sure, I can do that but then I really will have to leave."
Listening to the adults conversation Mikey was excited, "so Hunner can reads me a bedtime storwee wiv you Mommy?"
Chuckling she shrugged her shoulders, "if you ask him nicely I'm sure he will agree but it is up to him."
Turning to Hunter he gave him his puppy dog eyes, "p'ease?"
Looking at Stephanie he shook his head, "well we both know where he got that look from don't we?"
Smiling softly she pretended to be innocent, "I have no idea what you mean, I am a good girl and would never do anything like that."
Hunter laughed, "sure, you believe that if it will help you sleep at night."
Playfully glaring at him she threw a bread roll at his head, "shut up."
Catching the bread roll he took a big bite out of it to shut himself up.
Over an hour later and Hunter and Stephanie had just finished reading Mikey his bedtime story and he was now sound asleep so they both made their way down the stairs. Once they were downstairs she led him to the lounge and started to pace nervously in front of the television.
Watching his girlfriend pacing made Hunter nervous, "what's going on? What did I do wrong today?"
Sighing softly she shook her head, "you didn't do anything, it's all on me and my fears and insecurities."
He was confused, "uh . . . okay? What is it I did to bring out these fears and insecurities?"
Sighing softly she looked at the floor nervously as she paced back and forth, "when I woke up neither you or Mikey were around and I freaked out, I thought you'd like kidnapped him or something. I know it's stupid and I know you wouldn't do that but I couldn't help it, I absolutely freaked out."
Realising for the first time exactly how big her fears with him were he closed the gap between them and opened his arms to her allowing her the opportunity to choose if she wanted to cuddle with him or not, "I'm sorry, I didn't think about it. I can understand why you are afraid because I did abandon you when you needed me the most and I realise you are going to be afraid about me being with Mikey alone until I can build the trust up so you know that I won't do anything bad to him or take him away from you but I am sorry okay?"
Walking into his arms she wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest, "why are you so cool about it? Why aren't you mad at me for thinking the worst of you?"
Shrugging his shoulders he held her gently, "my sister told me that I couldn't expect things to be how they used to be and said that it would take time for you to trust me again."
Lifting her head to look at him she smiled softly, "your sister is smart."
Chuckling he nodded his head, "I know, just don't tell her I said that because I will never live it down."
Smacking his chest gently with her hand she shook her head, "don't be mean, she'd be pleased to hear that you appreciate her."
"I do appreciate her and she knows it but she's still my older sister and she still drives me crazy and gets on my last nerve like only sisters or brothers can do."
Sighing softly she rested her head back against his chest, "I'm sorry I'm such a nightmare. This is probably such a turn off realising your girlfriend is a crazy psycho paranoid bitch."
Placing his hands on her shoulders he gently pulled her away from him so he could look into her eyes, "actually you couldn't be more wrong if you tried to be. For one you are not crazy, a psycho or a bitch, maybe a little paranoid but it is somewhat understandable why you are and for two, it's kind of a turn on, in a non-creepy coming on to you kind of way."
Looking at him like he was crazy she shook her head, "now you're the crazy psycho one."
Laughing he should have been offended but he realised that it did come out wrong, "what I meant was that it is sexy to know that you feel you can be completely open and honest with me like this."
"You are actually serious aren't you?"
Nodding his head he was deadly serious, "of course. I'm too tired to make shit up just to please you."
Moving back into his arms she sighed as she lay her head on his chest again, "okay, thank you. I know you have to leave in a minute but one minute of cuddling and then you can."
Pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head he then rested his chin there, "sounds good to me."
After a minute or so of cuddling as neither of them were paying any attention to the time she slowly pulled away from him pulling out of his arms, "I guess this is you leaving."
Nodding his head he took her hand in his so she would accompany him to the door, "yes it is but I will call you tomorrow and then I will see you on Monday and Tuesday and we can plan a date for the week."
Smiling softly she really liked the sound of that, "that would be great, thank you."
Shrugging his shoulders he walked a few steps backwards towards the door, "it benefits me as much as it does you."
Shaking her head she watched as he turned around and the two of them made their way to the front door saying their goodbye's and sharing a few little kisses before he left for the evening to go home and pack and to get some sleep before he had to leave.
