It had been a few weeks since Stephanie had moved back to working only from the office or home whilst taking care of Mikey and juggling her relationship with Hunter whilst he continued to travel on the road with the WWE.
Hunter had been working on the west coast for Raw and Smackdown and was scheduled for an early morning Wednesday flight home and then he was hoping to spend the evening with Stephanie but they hadn't officially agreed on anything just yet. Because he was missing his girlfriend a lot Hunter dropped by the airport before he went to check into the hotel just to see if there was any chance of him getting a flight home earlier than the morning.
It was just after nine in the morning and Stephanie was setting up some painting for Mikey to do whilst she did some work for her Dad just taking a little of the load off him as she didn't want him to put himself under too much pressure immediately as he was travelling again. She was just about to sit down with her laptop when the doorbell rang so she abandoned her laptop and went to open the door. When she opened the door she was surprised by who she saw on the other side, "Hunter!"
Hunter chuckled as she wrapped her arms around his neck hugging him tightly and he hugged her back just as tightly knowing he had made the right decision, "hello gorgeous, I missed you."
Holding onto him she didn't want to let him go, "I missed you too, so much. I didn't think your flight was until this morning though?"
"It wasn't, I went to the airport after the show and begged them to get me on an earlier flight and someone didn't turn up for the red eye last night so I got their seat and I've come straight here from the airport because I missed you so much."
Reluctantly pulling away from the hug she stepped back, "do you want to come in or is it a flying visit on your way home?"
Shrugging his shoulders he had time to spare, "I could stay for a bit, I don't want to interfere with your work though. I did want to talk to you about something though."
Taking his hand and one of his bags she pulled him inside, "we can talk, you can stay for a bit and I'll just work later."
Chuckling he grabbed his suitcase and followed her into the house pushed the door shut behind him.
Following her into the lounge he took a seat on the couch, "where's Mikey?"
"In the kitchen painting. What do you want to talk about?"
He hoped she didn't think he was talking out of place but she had mentioned this to him at the beginning, "it's kind of two things. One of them was, when are we going to tell Mikey the truth? The second thing I wanted to talk to you about is that I want to tell my family that we are back together and I would love to introduce them to Mikey."
Stephanie gulped, she knew this day would come but the thought of telling his family about them and about Mikey was scary and made it all real to her. Unsure what to say she just kept quiet as she processed it all and thought it through.
Her silence spoke volumes for Hunter, he was feeling like her dirty little secret and it was starting to feel to him like she didn't want to tell Mikey the truth, "have you changed your mind about telling him?"
Lifting her gaze to his face she was confused, "huh? What?"
Motioning between them he didn't know what to say, "have you changed your mind about telling Mikey the truth? You're really quiet since I asked about when we'll do it so I just wondered."
Shaking her head she realised she needed to explain her silence, "it's not that, it's the other thing. Before you jump to conclusions I'm not saying I don't want to tell your family, I just . . . it's all real, telling your family makes it all real and it is scary. What if your family hates me for keeping Mikey away from you and them? What if they don't like us being back together?"
Sighing softly he felt bad for her that she was so utterly petrified that his family would be their downfall, "I'll let you in on a little secret, my Mom has had a feeling from day one that Mikey was my son and I told her she was crazy so you know, they'll not hate you for it."
Her eyes widened when she realised that his family already had a feeling they knew the truth, "is that why your Mom rang me that one time?"
Shrugging his shoulders he couldn't answer that, "it's my Mom, half the time I don't think she knows why she does what she does."
Smacking him gently she shook her head, "don't be mean about your Mom."
"I mean it all in jest, I love her to pieces. My family won't hate you, my sister was helping me to try and win you back and she knows we're together and she's happy for me so don't worry about them okay? If they dared say anything bad I would one hundred percent be there for you and be on your side. There are two adults in this relationship, there were two adults in that relationship and it was not one person's fault more than the other."
Smiling softly she leant into him and rested her head on his shoulder wrapping her arm over his waist holding him, "you're sweet, thank you. I want to tell Mikey the truth but when the time is right, I don't know now when that will be but when it happens I will know."
Pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head he wrapped his arms around her, "fair enough, that is all I can ask of you. I should get going so you can do some work whilst Mikey is busy."
Tilting her head back to look at him she had an idea, "or you could stay for a bit and spend some time with Mikey whilst I work."
Raising his eyebrow he was a little taken aback by the proposal, "really? You wouldn't mind?"
Laughing softly she pushed herself up so she was sitting up again, "I wouldn't have suggested it if I minded but if you would rather go home to bed then that's okay too."
Shaking his head he was going to jump at this opportunity to spend some time with Mikey, "no it's okay, I'd love to spend some time with him and you can do lots of work as you'll be happy in the knowledge that he is safe . . . right?"
Nodding her head she smiled, "right. He's in the kitchen at the table just please try not to get paint like everywhere."
Laughing he leant closer to her and kissed her quickly, "we'll be careful, I promise. I love you."
Watching as he stood up she smiled, "I love you too."
Walking towards the kitchen Hunter looked over his shoulder briefly to see her picking up her laptop he then turned his attention to not walking into any walls.
Entering the kitchen he smiled seeing Mikey hard at work on his painting, "and what masterpiece are you working on Mikey?"
Hearing Hunter's voice Mikey immediately turned to look at Hunter before quickly attempting to cover the picture with his hands, "yay you's here. You can'ts see, not finished, go 'way."
"It's okay, I will just sit with you and paint a pretty picture all of my own."
Looking at Hunter suspiciously he nodded his head slowly, ". . . 'kay, you can'ts look vough."
"Of course. Whatever will make you happy." Shaking his head when Mikey went back to his painting he muttered, "kids are so weird."
Moving to the table he took a seat opposite Mikey and grabbed a piece of paper and paintbrush all of his own to paint a picture whilst Stephanie did some work.
