Once they had all eaten their lunch Stephanie abandoned the dirty dishes in the sink so they could all spend some more time together in the lounge watching a movie.
Whilst Mikey lay on his stomach on the floor staring at the TV Stephanie sat curled up against her boyfriend just enjoying being able to relax and the quiet time as a family. Her eyes slid closed as she inhaled Hunter's smell, he smelt so delightful and it just felt like home to her and she didn't want to be anywhere else in this moment. Fully relaxed in his arms she didn't care if he fell asleep or if he just stayed here all day for no other reason than he wanted to, as long as she could sit like this she would be happy.
Unfortunately her happiness didn't last much longer as the doorbell rang and she had to get up from her comfortable position on the couch to answer it. Stepping over Mikey's feet she walked to the front door swinging it open surprised to see her Dad on the other side, "did I forget to do something?"
Vince laughed at his daughter's reaction, "no, not at all. I had the Doctors at lunchtime and trying to be a good patient and not pushing myself too hard I took the entire day off work. I didn't get in from Smackdown until really late, or well early this morning and I know I've got to get my sleep and not knowing how long I would be at the hospital I just said I wouldn't be in all day but they could contact me on my cell phone at any point if they needed me. As I have a free afternoon I thought I would come and spend the time with you and Mikey, if you don't mind."
Biting down on her lip she hesitated, as much as she wanted to spend some time with her Dad she also wanted to spend time with Hunter who was currently here and she didn't want there to be any sort of explosion, "uh . . ."
Realising that Stephanie was taking a while Hunter got up from his seat on the couch just to go and make sure that everything was okay, he didn't want to think anything bad was going down and he could have prevented it if he had got off his ass. Walking out into the foyer he relaxed when he saw that it was just Vince, "Vince, am I keeping her from doing her work or something?"
Turning his head at the sound of a voice his daughter's hesitation was making sense now, "no, not at all. I have taken the day off because I had a Doctors appointment and thought I'd swing by and hang out for a bit but as you're here I'll go home."
Shaking his head Hunter didn't want to prevent Vince spending some time with his family, "no, it's okay. I've got a couple of phone calls to make and I should probably take a nap as I haven't slept since Monday night and run some errands too. I will leave and you can stay. Everything was okay at the Doctors right?"
Smiling and nodding his head this new Hunter was hard to wrap his head around, it was a lot to get used to, "everything is fine, he said I am coming along nicely and he will see me again in three months. Don't let me force you out though if you're having fun."
"No it's okay, I've been here all morning anyway and I do have some things I should get done. I'll just go and say goodbye to Mikey and then I'll be on my way."
Stephanie pouted a little at the thought that only Mikey was getting a goodbye but that seemed to go unnoticed by Hunter as he walked back into the lounge.
Once Hunter was in the lounge Vince turned to his daughter, "so do you mind if I stay?"
Shaking her head she couldn't exactly say she'd prefer it if Hunter stayed, "no it's okay, I'm happy to see you and you're always welcome and you know that."
He didn't believe his daughter but he admired her for trying to spare his feelings.
Entering the lounge Hunter leant on the back of the couch fully expecting to be ignored, "Mikey I'm leaving now because you've got another visitor."
Turning around Mikey looked up at him, "yous come back?"
Shrugging his shoulders he wasn't sure when he would, "I'll see you soon I'm sure but I won't be back today but I'm sure you'll have fun with your other visitor."
Jumping up from the floor Mikey ran around the couch and hugged Hunter's legs tightly, "I miss 'oo."
Bending down a little he hugged the little boy back, "I'll miss you too but you will see me soon."
Pouting Mikey didn't like it, "pwomise?"
Nodding his head Hunter smiled, "I promise and if you are really missing me then your Mom has my phone number and you can always call, I won't mind."
Smiling brightly he liked that a lot, "kay kay, me likey."
Letting go of Hunter's legs he then ran out of the room and squealed with delight when he saw his Grandpa stood there and immediately ran over to him hugging him tightly, "Poppy! I's watch movie, you watch?"
Nodding his head he took the little boys hand as he moved away from him and stretched it towards him, "I sure will." As he followed the little boy into the lounge he looked over his shoulder at his daughter, "now this is the kind of reception I like."
Waiting until Vince turned back towards the front Hunter then stepped forward and slipped his arm around his girlfriend's waist and pulled her close, "don't be sad that I'm leaving, be happy that I was here."
Grumbling she glared at him, "I don't want to be, I wanted you to stay. I know it's bratty but I just did okay?"
Pressing a soft kiss to her lips he lifted his hand and stroked her cheek gently, "it's okay Steph, I can understand that you wanted me to stay here as much as I did but I do have to speak to my family about this weekend and I do need to do laundry. I will tell you the same thing that I told Mikey, if you need me you can call me, at any time."
Cuddling into him she rested her head on his chest and just held on tightly for a minute, parting was going to be the hardest thing she had to do today because her heart had gone through a lot today and it just felt like he could leave and never come back.
Pressing a soft kiss to the top of her head he reluctantly pulled away, "I really do need to get moving if I am going to achieve anything. I am going to call my sister first and tell her and see if she thinks I should tell Mom we're going over at the weekend or not but I will call you tonight okay?"
"You promise?"
Not really understanding why she was kind of clingy right now he just nodded his head, "of course, I have to tell you the plan so you're unfortunately not going to be getting rid of me that easily."
Wrapping her arms around herself she nodded her head, "okay, I will hold you to that."
Gripping her chin gently in his hand he tilted her head up before he pressed a loving kiss to her lips, "have fun and I will speak to you tonight."
Picking up his bags he almost reluctantly left the house, he didn't know what was going on in her head but he felt like he should stay to sort it out but he couldn't.
