Arriving home Hunter carried his suitcase through to the kitchen and threw a load of laundry into the machine turning it on and leaving his suitcase in the corner as it was full of the next load. Once the laundry was being done he walked out of the room kitchen and grabbed the phone before he went and collapsed onto the couch.
He thought about holding off ringing his sister but then he thought about it and realised he just wanted to speak to Stephanie as soon as he could so he dialled his sister's phone number. As he listened to the phone ringing he really hoped she wasn't working and she would answer. He was just about to give up when she picked up the phone and he breathed a sigh of relief, "hey Lynn."
Unable to gauge his voice to know whether he was in a good or a bad mood she checked her watch, "hey. I don't have a whole lot of time as I have to pick the kids up from school soon but what can I help you with?"
"Umm, this is kind of a strange request."
Laughing she shook her head, "you always have strange requests so it's no big deal. What is it I can do for you?"
Resting his head back on the couch he stared at the ceiling, "I want to take Stephanie and Mikey over to Mom and Dad's at the weekend and I wondered if you thought I should tell them first?"
"Wow, you two are really serious about each other. How are you going to explain it to Mikey and Mom and Dad?"
Hunter was confused, "explain what to Mikey and Mom and Dad?"
Rolling her eyes her brother could be so dense, "well firstly how are you going to explain to Mikey who they are and secondly how are you going to explain it all to Mom and Dad?"
He at last realised what she meant, "ohhh. Mikey already knows, we explained it all to him this morning and he seems okay with it and honestly, I have no idea how to explain it to Mom and Dad, I'll just have to tell them the truth."
"Wait, you told Mikey that you're his Dad and explained your side of the family to him?"
Laughing he put his feet up on the coffee table, "did I stutter? Yes we did, before you ask he seemed less than bothered by it so we'll just see how things progress because we told him he doesn't have to call me 'Dad' yet if he isn't ready. Back to the subject matter though, should I call and tell Mom and Dad that I'm going?"
"Do you want them to be waiting for you or do you want to surprise them? Gordon is working on Saturday and I already told Mom that the kids and I would be going to spend the day so do I need to change our plans for you?"
"Well surprising them sounds like both a good and a bad idea, there is a chance that Mom may kill me for turning up on the doorstep with Stephanie and Mikey. Don't change your plans for us though, we explained that you and the kids may be there to Mikey and I think he's kind of excited to play with his cousins."
Smiling Lynn was really looking forward to meeting her nephew because from what she had been told he sounded utterly adorable, "well in that case don't tell them and I look forward to seeing their faces when you turn up."
"Well I am glad you have something to look forward to. I guess I won't tell them then and we'll just turn up on the doorstep and if they kill me you can go to jail as an accessory to murder."
Rolling her eyes she shook her head, "they won't kill you, not quite anyway. I've got to get going though as I've got to pick the kids up from school. I will see you on Saturday but in the meantime don't miss me too much."
"Bye Lynn."
Hanging up the phone he tossed it onto the couch beside him before he grabbed his cell phone from his back pocket to text his girlfriend:
Lynn and the kids are going to be at my parents at the weekend but she said we should turn up unannounced. She's really excited to see their faces. Love you xx
Sending the text to Stephanie Hunter then went to go and get changed to go to the gym, there was no point trying to sleep now as he wouldn't sleep tonight so he would settle for working out to see if that would wake him up a little.
Sitting on the couch staring at her phone she was so close to calling Hunter, she just wanted to hear his voice and listen to him telling her that everything would be okay but then she didn't want to be the clingy girlfriend that got on his nerves and he dumped. She was about to toss the phone down beside her on the couch when it vibrated in her hand and almost too eagerly she looked at the screen almost relieved to see that it was from Hunter. Reading the text she bit down on her lip nervously as she thought about how to reply.
She was about to reply to his text when Mikey came running into the lounge, "Mommy, Mommy!"
Turning on her seat she looked at her son, "what baby?"
Climbing onto the seat beside her he smiled sweetly, "Poppy has special Poppy powers, he knows ev'ryfing."
Raising her eyebrow she looked over his shoulder at her Dad, "you have special powers huh?"
Vince smiled as he entered the room, "absolutely, how else do you think I know so much?"
Shaking her head at him she turned her attention to her phone, "well I have a text to send, see if you know who I'm texting seeing as you know everything."
Vince smirked, "easy, Hunter."
Pouting she was disappointed, "well that's not fair, how did you know that?"
Mikey smirked, "Poppy's speshul powers."
Groaning she just ignored them and turned her attention to her phone:
I'm looking forward to it. I love you too and kind of miss you already xx
Sending the text she turned her attention to her Dad and son, "so what mischief are you two going to get up to next?"
Mikey shrugged his shoulders, "dunno. Got 'deas?"
Vince sat down in one of the chairs, "I'm thinking we should do something fun and interesting."
Stephanie shook her head, "I think we should sit down and do nothing."
Mikey pouted, "Moooooom."
Unable to help himself Vince joined in, "Moooooooom."
Shaking her head she felt like she had two kids, "you two are impossible, I give in with you both."
Vince smirked, "we win Mikey."
Clapping his hands he looked excited, "yay, we wins. Cans Daddy Hunner comes back?"
Still feeling a little on edge about how things were with Hunter and not wanting to really point out that he had called him 'Daddy Hunter' she shook her head, "he has things he has to do at home and he's probably sleeping right now as he didn't get any sleep last night as he was travelling to see us."
Pouting the little boy wasn't happy, "oh. Cans we calls him later?"
Smiling softly she nodded her head, "we can try. How about I text him now and ask him to call when he is free later? That way we won't interrupt him."
Reaching for his Mom's phone Mikey grabbed it not knowing how to use it but wanting to send the text immediately so he thrust it towards her, "kay kay."
Chuckling she shook her head and took the phone from his hands and sent Hunter another text reading it out loud as she wrote:
Mikey would like you to call later when you are free as he would like to talk to you.
Sending the text she turned to her son, "now that is settled let's have some fun."
Clapping his hands Mikey slid off the couch and grabbed his Mom's hand and his Grandpa's and pulled them behind him.
Having his phone beeping twice in the short drive to the gym wanting a different set of four walls Hunter was nervous as he pulled into a parking spot thinking that maybe Stephanie had changed her mind after getting confirmation that it would actually happen. Shutting off the engine he picked up his phone and read the first text and as he got to the second text he couldn't help but smile softly as he muttered, "I don't think Mikey is the only one that wants to talk to me."
Getting out of the car he grabbed his gym bag from the back seat and slung it over his shoulder and as he walked to the front door he tapped out a reply to her:
I'll call about six tonight. I miss you too though so hopefully me and you can talk when he's gone to bed? xxx
Sending the text he then entered the gym to get a good workout in.
