Here's the next chapter in our story. Enjoy!

Angela eyed Booth, wondering how much, if anything, she should tell him. This thing between him and Brennan was her kind of romance. They were destined to have a once-in-a-lifetime kind of love, she just knew it. Inspiration struck her once again.

"Wait. You and Hannah are done? When did that happen?" Angela asked. She hadn't known that they were over, or she would've told Brennan not to leave. After shouting 'HALLELUJAH', of course.

"The night Bones sang at the Founding Fathers. Now, where is Bones?" Booth asked.

"I'm sorry, Booth."

"It's fine, Ange. Stop trying to distract me. Where's Bones?"

"Relax. She's just on a vacation for 2 weeks. I don't know where, though." she said, hoping he couldn't tell she was lying. "Maybe you should do that. Take a few weeks off. Get away and clear your head from Hannah. When you come back, Brennan will be back, too. You guys would have a clean slate." Angela said.

"I should go on vacation? And, where should I go, Angela?" Booth asked sarcastically.

"Oh, come on. Surely you've earned the right to take some time off, Booth. You and Bren have the highest solve rate in the FBI, so surely they wouldn't mind you taking some time off." she said.

Booth thought about that for a minute. She had a point. He could take some time off. "Yeah. That's actually a good idea. I could spend a few weeks just sitting at home."

"No, no, no. You should get out of DC." Angela said. ''Hey..you ever been to Boston?"

While that was happening, Temperance Brennan was still having a lovely time. The lady who tended to the condo, Melissa, had come in for the day. She was a long time resident of Boston, and had been more than happy to tell her all of the things she should see while she was in Boston. Melissa had spent half an hour talking about where Brennan could take the puppies to play. That was after she spent 15 minutes fawning over the three of them.

"There's also Old North Church you could visit. That's where the '1 if by land, 2 if by sea' message was sent from, ya know? Um..oh! The Peabody Museum may interest you. The Museum of Fine Arts would probably interest you, also. If you're a baseball fan, Fenway Park is amazing." Melissa said.

"Um..thank you. I will look into everything you told me, Melissa." Brennan said.

"You're welcome, Dr. Brennan. Well, if you don't need anything, I'll be off. I'll see you again in 3 days."

"Thank you again, Melissa. Have a nice night." Brennan said.

Once she was alone again, Brennan decided to spend some time in the library, with Bayla, Bama and Baby right on her heels. As she walked down the rows, nothing seemed to jump out at her. There were hundreds, she guessed, of scientific books, but none she had found interested her. Taking a risk, she pulled out what looked like a romance novel. Reading the premise, it was about a woman who has a relationship with her neighbor. Definitely had to be one of Ange's books. Hodgins wouldn't read books like this. Or would he?

Booth had decided to take Angela's advice. It would be smart to take a little trip. He could come back with a clean slate, making it easier to start over with Bones. Put the past behind him, where it belonged, and focus on his future. His future included Bones. Bones had to be in his future. She had to be.

After talking to Cullen, and being approved for a leave, he went home. After showering, eating a small meal and packing 2 weeks worth of clothes, he got in his truck. He was starting his vacation by driving to his destination.

Angela and Hodgins had been nice enough and were letting him use their condo for a few weeks. Booth knew Hodgins was loaded, but had no idea that he and Angela had more houses than the one they lived in, but he shouldn't be surprised. Hodgins and Angela enjoyed the finer things in life from time to time, but for the most part, they were both like him. Simple. The simpler things in life made and kept them happy, like him.

Taking a deep breath, he threw the truck into drive, and got going. Booth tuned his radio to a classic rock station, intending to jam his way to Boston. It was currently 11:45, so, depending on traffic and how many stops he made, he should be there around 7 that night.

Brennan had decided to take the dogs for a walk later that evening. She had been in the library most of the day, and getting out would be nice. Plus, it would be good for the dogs to go somewhere other than the courtyard.

Changing into jeans and a plain white t-shirt with her walking shoes, she put the dogs on their leads and headed out. Walking the same way she had started when she bought them, she walked slowly. Linda, the lady she had bought them from, was outside, so Brennan waved at her. Continuing up the street, Brennan became a bit melancholy. Everywhere she looked, there was something that reminded her of a life she may never have.

Kids playing in their yards. Parents sitting on porches watching them. She saw a couple outside, gardenng together. A man washing his car while his kids played in the driveway. Pictures of perfectly normal, wonderful, domestic bliss. This is what she wanted. A beautiful house. Garden. Her dogs playing in the yard with her children. A husband.

Sighing in sadness, she turned around to go back to the condo. She just wanted to fix herself dinner, feed the pups, and either watch television or read another book.

Booth arrived in Boston just after 6 that evening. He thought he made good time. Following Angela's directions, he pulled up outside the condo building just before 7. Grabbing his bag, he headed up to Casa Hodgins, as he called it in his mind.

Entering, he went to pick a bedroom. He decided on the bedroom just at the top of the stairs. Putting his bag on the bed, he walked down to the kitchen to grab a bite to eat.

If only that were simple.

Brennan entered the condo, immediately feeling something was off. Someone was here. Letting the dogs off their leads, they ran into the living room, nipping at each other.

Grabbing the closest object in sight, an umbrella, she walked slowly toward the kitchen. Peeking through the door, all she could see was someone's leg. Brennan heard them turn to walk back into the living room. She held the umbrella like a baseball bat, ready to swing away at the intruder.

As the door swung open, Brennan hid behind it. After it swung shut, she stepped out and hit them as hard as she could across the back. After the male went down, she tossed the umbrella to the floor, and jumped on the intruder. She wasn't, however, expecting them to fight back.

Booth walked back toward the living room, intending to watch television, when he was whacked on the back with something hard. Falling to his knees, he felt whoever was behind him jump on his back. Rolling to the side, he managed to throw them off him. Getting to his feet, he was shocked to see a woman getting to her feet as well. Getting a good look at her, he was surprised.

"Bones?"

Brennan looked up at the familiar voice calling her nickname.

"Booth?"

Staring at each other for a minute, they both looked confused.

"What are you doing here?" they both asked.
