AN: I own nothing. Unfortunately.
Thanks for the reviews, guys. Those reviews, plus the follows and faves makes me wanna keep this going.
Here is the next chapter in our story. Enjoy!
Brennan was the first to speak. "Angela and Hodgins are letting me stay here for the duration of my time off. What are you doing here?"
Booth had to suppress a smile. He knew what Angela and Hodgins were up to."They are letting me use this place during my time off, also." he said. "So, this is where you've been, huh?"
"Yes. But, seeing as Angela and Hodgins obviously forgot that I was here when they leant you this place, I will be leaving very soon, I think." Brennan said with a sad smile. She felt like bursting into tears. She came here to take a break from everything, Booth and Hannah mainly, and here they were.
"Leave? Why would you leave, Bones?"
"I don't want to intrude on your and Hannah's romantic getaway." she said. Seeing his look of confusion, she contnued. "I will explain to Hannah that I will not be staying, Booth. Where is she, anyway?" she asked, looking around. She would explain to Hannah that she wasn't staying, and be on her way.
"Bones, that's not necessary. Han.." Booth started, only to be interrupted.
"No, Booth, it's alright. You and Hannah obviously came here to be alone. It's alright, really." she said. She was obviously lying through her teeth. It wasn't alright, but it wasn't up to her. That didn't mean she wanted to watch them together.
"I'm here alone, actually." Booth said. Taking a deep breath, he said, "Hannah and I are through, Bones."
Brennan couldn't believe what she was hearing. "What?"
"Hannah and I called it quits, Bones." Booth said.
"Oh! I'm sorry. Would you like me to leave anyway?" she asked, thinking he'd wish to be alone. On the outside, she was very sympathetic. Inside, though, she was screaming for joy.
"No, Bones." Booth said with a smile. "I would like it if you stayed around. Please?" He wasn't lying. He really did want her to stay. He had been in panic mode hen he couldn't find her. Now that Bones was here, and he was with her, he desperately wanted her to stay around. He threw in his best charming smile at her, hoping to convince her.
Unable to resist his charm smile, Brennan smiled back. "Alright, Booth. We'll stay."
Booth, for his part, was ecstatic. He couldn't believe Bones was going to stay here with him, alone, for the next 2 weeks. Until he caught what she said.
"Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean 'we', Bones?"
Booth couldn't believe Bones was here with someone. He saw her twisting her fingers together, a soft smile on her face.
"Booth, there's someone I'd like you to meet. C'mere, guys!" she yelled.
Booth turned hearing clicking on the tile in the hallway. As soon as he saw the three dogs turning the corner, a big smile appeared on his face.
"Meet Bayla, Bama and Baby. I got them earlier." Brennan said.
Booth was absolutely delighted. He knew Bones wanted a dog ever since she was going to adopt Ripley a few years ago. "Bones! You got dogs?!"
Brennan smiled seeing Booth drop to his knees to play with the dogs. This was a playful side of him she hadn't seen since he started seeing Hannah a while back. She had missed it, too.
"Yes." she said. "Although they're not dogs yet, Booth. They are still puppies. However, when fully grown, they will each be quite large."
"Awww, c'mon, Bones. A dog's a dog." Booth watched as a look of confusion crossed her face. Sensing what she was about to say, he continued. "Big, small, adult or puppy, Bones. They're all dogs."
Nodding, Brennan said, "Yes, I know. They are all from the canine family, Booth."
Booth knew that this conversation could go on and on in circles all day if he continued it. Instead, he decided to change the subject. "Have you eaten yet, Bones?"
Right on cue, her stomach gave an embarrassing growl. "I..no, not yet, Booth. I was going to have a small dinner before turning in."
"How about I take you out for dinner, huh? Nothin' fancy, just somethin' small. You know, to celebrate spending our vacation together." Booth said with a smile.
"Alright. Just let me go freshen up." Brennan said. "I'll only be a few minutes." And with that, walked up the stairs to change.
After Bones left, Booth got out his cell phone and sent Angela a text.
THANX, ANG.
He got a reply just as Bones was walking back down the stairs.
UR WELCOME. DONT SCREW THIS UP.
"Just another minute, Booth. I need to put the dogs in the cages Melissa brought earlier." Bones said, walking with the dogs back into the living room. Once she was out of sight, he sent one last text.
I WONT. IM GONNA MAKE THIS WORK.
He swore to himself that he would, indeed, try to make this work should he and Bones take their relationship further. Booth was going to hold on to Bones if he got the chance to have her. She was too important to let slip through his fingers again.
"Alright, Booth. I'm ready." Brennan said walking back in the room. Grabbing her purse, she started out the door, knowing he would be right behind her.
"Okay." Booth said, following her out the door and down to his SUV. "Maybe we can find a diner like in DC."
"Maybe. Melissa, the lady who was here earlier, told me of several diners you may be interested in."
"Well, as long as these diners have pie." Booth said, hopping in the drivers seat.
"Of course, Booth." Brennan said, rolling her eyes. "Wait. You drove here?"
"Yep. What better way to travel in comfort than your own car, Bones? Besides, it was relaxing."
REVIEW PLEASE.
I'M WORKING ON THE NEXT CHAPTER. HOPING TO HAVE IT UP TOMORROW OR SUNDAY. IT'LL BE MY EASTER PRESENT TO ALL YOU LOVELY PEOPLE.
