Waiting a few minutes after his daughter's departure Vince put his glasses on his desk and turned his attention to the younger man, "Linda hasn't mentioned anything to me about you having asked Stephanie to marry her and her saying no and Stephanie isn't saying anything about the two of you being engaged so what's going on there?"
Turning his attention to his boss he was really hoping to avoid this conversation, "I haven't asked her yet. I have bought the ring, I have the ring on me at all times but I am just waiting for the right time to ask her and I just haven't found that time yet."
"When is going to be the right time?"
Shrugging his shoulders Hunter had no idea, "I don't know, I am assuming it will just feel right. I know that sounds ridiculous but I am hoping I will just instinctively know when the right time to ask her is."
"So you haven't gotten cold feet?"
Laughing he shook his head, "no, far from it. I do want to ask her but when the time is right."
Before Vince had chance to reply there was a knock at the door so he turned his attention to that and frowned when he found out that there was a problem and he needed to leave, "Hunter are you able to stick around until Stephanie returns please?"
Nodding his head Hunter relished any time he got to spend with his son, "of course. You go and sort out whatever it is that you need to sort out and me and Mikey will sit here and patiently wait for Steph's return."
Relieved that he wouldn't have to wait or take Mikey with him Vince got up from his seat, "I will see you both later, be good Mikey."
Walking out of the room he pulled the door closed behind him, the less people that saw Hunter with Mikey the better.
Having gone out to her car quietly and unnoticed Stephanie was making her way back inside with the dress bag over her shoulder and her shoes dangling from her fingers when she got stopped by one of the mid-card wrestlers, "are you out of your mind?"
Turning to look at him she was confused, "not that I know of, my mind is perfectly fine thank you."
"I mean leaving your son with Hunter, he may be playing nice for the time being but you never know what he will do when left alone with someone, especially a young child. I would have thought that you would have known him better than anyone and would have thought better than to leave Mikey alone with him."
Stephanie was pissed off that he was questioning her parental decisions, "you know what, if you want to keep your job I suggest you keep your opinion to yourself. Do you have any idea how protective my Dad is over his Grandson? If he got wind of you insinuating that his Grandson was not being looked after properly by me he is likely to have you out of the door faster than you can say 'insinuate'."
Not allowing him a moment to respond she stormed off towards the Divas locker room pushing the door open as she reached it not really caring if anyone objected, she just needed somewhere to change.
Trish jumped a little when someone stormed into the locker room but smiled when she saw Stephanie, "what are you doing here?"
Hanging up her dress and dropping her shoes on the floor she took a seat and undid the dress bag before she undid her shoes, "my Dad thinks I'm too casual and need to change so that is why I am here."
Frowning Trish shook her head, "your Dad needs his head reading but whatever. How's Mikey?"
Unable to stop herself she chuckled, "he's having a whale of a time. As I left him with my Dad and Hunter he was telling Hunter how he was going to beat him in a match later."
Trish laughed, "figures that he'd want to get in the ring. So why are you in a bad mood?"
"Ugh, some ass questioned my parenting for leaving Mikey with Hunter, he's lucky I didn't slap him."
Trish was so glad she wasn't that guy, "maybe you should have, it would have taught him a lesson."
"Yeah and gotten me an ear bashing from my Dad so it wouldn't have been worth it in the end."
Changing into her workout gear as Stephanie changed into her dress Trish grabbed a jacket to keep herself warm. As she looked at Stephanie as she stood up after putting her shoes on gathering her clothes together she had an idea, "let me do your hair for you please?"
Looking at her like she was crazy she was confused, "why?"
Shrugging Trish had no real reason, "I just think it would really set the outfit off, please? It won't take long I promise."
Reluctantly she put the clothes down, "okay sure, ten minutes at the most and then I have to go."
Grabbing Stephanie's hand Trish pulled her over to the other side other room and sat her down before she grabbed her hairbrush.
Sat on the floor with Mikey Hunter had Bubbles and was dancing him on the floor keeping Mikey occupied whilst they waited for Stephanie as she was taking forever. Taking Bubbles by the arms Hunter jumped him up onto the top of Mikey's head and had him dancing up there enjoying the sound of his laughter as the door opened.
Walking back into the locker room Stephanie felt her heart melt as she watched Hunter making Mikey laugh so heartily, "nice to see the two of you are being productive."
Jumping up from the floor Mikey ran over to his Mom and hugged her, "yays, you back."
Bending down she kissed the top of his head, "yes I am. Sorry I took so long, Trish insisted on doing my hair."
Getting up from the floor Hunter looked at his girlfriend from head to toe and smiled, "you look beautiful."
Mikey nodded his head eagerly, "what Daddy says."
Laughing she walked over to Hunter and kissed him softly, "thank you."
Pushing some hair behind her shoulder he then ran his hand down her arm taking her hand loosely in his, "you're welcome gorgeous."
Mikey went back to sitting on the floor with Bubbles and Mikey and playing with them so Stephanie took it as her opportunity to talk to her boyfriend, "we need to talk."
He had a feeling she would say that so he gently tugged on her hand and led her over to the couch before he sat down, "I'm all ears."
Sitting down beside him she turned in the seat so she was facing him, "I have been thinking about everything and I think it would be best if we got Mikey to call you 'Hunter' whilst we're at the arena."
His face fell when she said that, "are you embarrassed by me being his Dad?"
Shaking her head that couldn't be further from the truth if he tried, "it's not that at all, I am just afraid. When I was on my way back into the arena from the car I had a run in with one of the wrestlers and he was ripping into me about my parenting choices and I'm just afraid of how people will react when they find out you are his Dad."
Not wanting to put his son in danger or his girlfriend under more stress than necessary he reluctantly nodded his head, "okay, I guess it makes sense."
Surprised that he was agreeing so easily she had to question him, "are you sure?"
Nodding his head he was putting them first so he was, "yes."
Taking a deep breath she turned to face their son, "Mikey, can you come and join us on the couch please?"
Getting up from the floor he walked over to his parents and looked between them expectantly waiting until his Dad moved away from his Mom a little and he squeezed between them, "kay kay I's here."
Laughing softly she kissed the top of his head, "Mommy and Daddy were talking and we want to ask you something. Whilst we are here in the arena we would like you to call Daddy 'Hunter' again."
Confused he looked between his parents, "why? Was Daddy bad?"
Laughing she shook her head, "no, it's nothing like that. Some of the wrestlers don't like your Daddy very much and we are worried about you when they find out that he's your Dad."
"So I's can calls him Daddy at home?"
Nodding her head she absolutely wanted him to do that, "of course. It is only whilst we're here at the arena that we're concerned about it."
Shrugging his shoulders Mikey turned to his Dad, "I loves you Daddy."
Smiling softly Hunter bent down and kissed his cheek, "I love you too handsome." Turning to look at his girlfriend he smiled softly, "I'd better go and change and get a workout in but I will see you after lunch to go and play in the ring with Mikey?"
Nodding her head she was getting a weird vibe from him, "of course. Do you want us to come and get you or will you just meet us down there?"
Shrugging his shoulders he didn't know, "I don't know, it might be better if we just happen to run into each other at ringside or something."
Standing up he started to walk to the door turning briefly to look back at them both, "I will see you later."
Frowning Stephanie wasn't happy, "wait! Can I get a kiss first please?"
Walking over to her he leant forward and pressed a soft kiss to her lips, "there ya go. I will see you later."
Turning around he quickly left the room.
As soon as Hunter had left Mikey turned to his Mom, "Hunner's sad."
Sighing softly she nodded her head as she had noticed that too, "I know baby but he will be happier later, I promise."
