AN: I still don't own anything.
By the way, this relationship will progress slowly. Booth and Bones aren't gonna fall into place overnight. There is still plenty more to come.
So sorry this is late. I'll explain at the bottom.
Enjoy!
That evening, Brennan and Booth decided to stay in for dinner. Booth cooked himself a couple pork chops to go with Brennan's mac and cheese. He was surprised that she had made it for him. Since going their seperate ways and then during the 'Hannah Phase', Brennan hadn't made it for him.
"Bones, this is the best. Honestly, you have to make the best mac and cheese anywhere." Booth said, before having his third helping.
"Booth, you can't possibly know that. You'd have to have every kind of mac and cheese from everyplace on the planet that makes it..." Bones started.
"To me, Bones. To me, you make the best, and I don't need to try any other kind to know that." Booth said. "I know that Parker loves it, too. And Pops." he said with a smile.
"Oh. Well, thank you, Booth." Bones said, a shy smile and blush appearing on her face as she resumed eating.
"Hey, Bones. How about after dinner we just plop down in the living room and watch a movie or two? Something old, maybe black and white?" Booth asked.
"Alright. I'll let you decide what we watch." she said, getting up to put her plate in the sink. "I'll wash these up later. While you finish, I'm going to feed the dogs. I'll meet you in the living room, alright?"
"Sounds good, Bones." Booth said. After she left the room, he smiled a slow smile to himself. He could be devious when he wanted. Dinner. Wine. Now a movie. Temperance Brennan wasn't very observant if she didn't see this for the date it was. After she let him hold her hand earlier, Booth had planned this evening out in his head. If they were finally moving forward, he was only too happy to help.
He finished his dinner and put his plate in the sink, and walked into the living room. Booth looked through the selection of movies. Finding one he thought Bones would like, he got it ready. Just as he poured a glass of wne, she walked into the room.
"Okay. What did you pick, Booth?" she asked. She removed her shoes and curled up at one end of the sofa.
Handing her the glass of wine, Booth smiled at her. He picked up his glass, sat at the other end of the sofa, and looked at her. "An oldie, but a goodie, Bones."
"I don't undersand. Is that the name, or..?" she asked.
"No, Bones." Booth said, smiling. "It means it's an old movie, but it's still a great watch."
"Oh. Okay. What is it?"
"Casablanca." Booth said, starting the movie.
"I've heard of this movie. I've never seen it, though." Bones said, and then settled in to watch.
At the end of the movie, Booth watched as Bones wiped a tear from her eye. "You okay there, Bones?" he asked.
"Yes." she said with a sniff. Looking at the clock, she noticed it was still early. "Would you like to watch another movie, or no?" she asked.
Booth looked at the clock too. 8:45. "Yeah, I'll watch another. You pick this time, though."
"Ok." Bones said, and went to look for a movie. While she was standing there looking, Booth took the time to look her over. She had taken her hair down before dinner. He had noticed since they got back, Bones had started letting her hair grow. She was still in her jeans from earlier, and he noticed they made her behind look fantastic. Of course, he had noticed it before, but there was something about it now that made it one of his favorite body parts of her. She had taken her shoes and socks off, and he saw that her toenails were painted a red color. He wasn't a foot fetishist, but he rarely got to see Bones without shoes, so the sight of her bare feet was something else he loved seeing.
"How about this one?" she asked, breaking his chain of thought. He looked up and saw she was holding Phantom of the Opera. He really didn't want to watch it, but figured he owed it to her to.
"Alright. Let me just run to the bathroom." Booth said.
While Booth was in the bathroom, Bones went to her bedroom to check on her dogs. They were all sound asleep, curled up together. Bones quietly got her camera and snpped a picture of the three. That woke them up, so Bones decided to bring them to the living room for a bit of quality cuddle time before she went to bed.
"Come on, guys. You can spend some time with me and Booth. He likes you. I know he does." she said, walking out of the room with them right behind her.
Getting back into the living room, she saw Booth sitting down. She knew in her heart that she would never get enough of that man. "Hey, Bones. I was wondering where you went." he said.
"Sorry. I went to check on the dogs. I'm bringing them in here, if that's okay." Bones said.
Looking behind her, Booth saw them coming down the hall. "Yeah, Bones. It's okay." he said. Like he could deny her.
Bones sat down on the floor, and Booth watched as Bayla, Bama and Baby came and laid in front of her. He watched with a smile. Booth would never get enough of watching her. He decided to join her, so he sat in the floor beside her. Almost immediately, Bayla came and laid in his lap, making Bones smile.
"I think Bayla likes you, Booth." she said. Booth looked down, and Bayla was lying in his lap looking up at him, as if agreeing with Bones.
"I think you may be right." Booth said.
About halfway through the movie, Booth smiled when Bones laid her head on his shoulder. She stayed that way for the rest of the movie.
