AN: If I owned Bones, I wouldn't be writing this. But, I am, therefore, I don't.
Thank you to those of you who reviewed, followed or favorited. I am so glad you all are enjoying this so far.
On a side note, I've never been to Boston, so if you have, please feel free to PM me some fun things to do there. I've found a few on the internet, but am open to suggestions. I plan on taking B&B out and about in next weeks chapter.
Anyways, on with the story.
Enjoy!
The next day was decided to be a lazy day. Booth and Bones had both decided to stay in and do virtually nothing for once. They both had slept in since they had stayed up late watching movies. Neither Booth nor Bones got to bed before three.
"So, Bones. I got a few places I need to go this morning. Shouldn't be gone too long if you wanna come with me." Booth said.
"Thank you for asking, Booth, but I'll just stay here. I need to return a few e-mails." Bones said, taking a drink of her orange juice.
"Are you sure you don't wanna come?" Booth asked, trying to ignore the laughter of his inner teenager.
"Yes, Booth. I'll be fine here by myself." she said.
"Okay, then. Like I said, I shouldn't be long." he said, standing and taking his plate over to the sink. He picked up his keys from the bowl on the table by the door and turned. "See ya, Bones."
"Bye, Booth."
Once Booth had left, Bones cleaned up the kitchen of the breakfast dishes. After the dishwasher was running, she walked up to her bedroom where her laptop was and answered e-mails from Ange, her dad, Marci (the real estate agent), and her publisher. She was surprised to find a message from the editor of her favorite anthropology magazine, wanting to do a special issue about her. That made her frown. Yes, it would be nice to be featured in it, but an issue dedicated solely to her? Bones decided to ask Booth his opinion before she gave an answer.
After that was done, she stood and walked to the balcony. It was turning out to be quite a warm day already. She looked around, and saw a couple of other women on their balconies laying out in the sun. She had never done that-just lay out in a bikini enjoying the sun and warmth. The times she had been to warmer climates was for work, fherefore not giving her the time, nor the desire, to do nothing but lay there. Bones decided to do that. Going back inside, she went to one of her dresser drawers and pulled out the white bikini she packed after Angela told her to, and changed into it.
Making sure to put on plenty of sunscreen, she grabbed a towel and went outside to the lounge chair. Once she laid the towel down, she remembered that she didn't have any water, which was essential when being outside in the sun. Even though Booth was currently gone, she still threw on an oversized t-shirt to walk through the house. No matter how confident she was with her body, she could not bring herself to walk scantily dressed though the house. She grabbed two bottles of water and headed back.
Bones decided to lock her door when she was back inside. Then, she changed her mind. There was no logical reason to do that. She was safe here. The only person who would be likely to appear would be Booth, and she had no reason to keep him out. She put in her i-pod and laid down, letting her mind wander.
'Yes, if Booth comes out here, I will be glad to let him see me like this. Maybe give him a hint or two that I'm still interested. It certainly seems like he's still interested in me. What better time to move our relationship forward than when it's just the two of us? After all, it's time to take Ange's advice and just see what happens. It's time to let myself be open with Booth and the idea of being together with him isn't so terrible. He's been my best friend for years. He'd never hurt me. Not on purpose. Not like Sully. Peter. Michael. Or anyone else. Booth would never leave me like my family. He is the most loyal person I know. Caring. He knows who I am, and exactly what kind of person I am, and he's still interested. Maybe Avalon was right. He's dazzled. I doubt it, but still. Yes. It's time to take a chance to be happy. And Booth would make me happy. He already does." she thought.
While she was lost in thought, she listened to her i-pod, which was filled mostly with songs from her childhood. Despite what Booth and anyone else thought, she did know more about music than she let on. Bones had lied to Booth a while back when she said she didn't know who Michael Jackson was. Of course she did. He was one of her favorite singers. She was also a fan of Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, and a lot of other musicians from the eighties. She wasn't completely inept, after all. She told Booth once that she didn't keep up ith current events past the Industrial Revolution, but that didn't mean she didn't keep up with music. Just because she enjoyed varying, and sometimes odd, kinds of music didn't mean she only listened to that. She enjoyed rap after she and Angela went to the nightclub where they found the DJ in the wall. There was even some country music she enjoyed. Of course, with rap, she enjoyed the music more than the words. But there was something about a country song and the story it often tells she also enjoyed. After all, most country songs that told a story were about heartbreak, something she could identify with.
Bones had been outside for about an hour when started to drift off. She never heard Booth come back or into her room looking for her. She also didn't hear the dropping of a cell phone or the sudden inhale of breath. She certainly didn't hear the word whispered into the day.
"Perfect."
PLEASE REVIEW.
OOOH! THINGS ARE STARTING TO MOVE FORWARD!
I WROTE THIS CHAPTER MOSTLY ABOUT BONES SINCE LAST CHAPTER WAS MOSTLY ABOUT BOOTH.
I KNOW THAT USUALLY BONES PROBABLY WOULDN'T SUNBATHE, BUT THAT'S HOW I SPENT YESTERDAY AND IT'S HARD TO STOP THINKING ABOUT.
I THINK I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT THE BALCONY SHE'S ON IS COVERED, SO SHE'S NOT DIRECTLY IN THE SUN.
I'LL TRY TO MAKE THE NEXT CHAPTER A BIT LONGER. I'LL SEE YOU NEXT SUNDAY!
