VII

James Potter

I got out my bed silently walking towards the door as quiet as possible. Everyone was asleep, I could even hear Fred snoring which actually wasn't very surprising because the boy snored like a lion. I grabbed my invisibility cloak, my wand, the marauders map and walked out of the room.

"So where to?" Alexa whispered as she waited outside the common room with her arms crossed.

"Merlin's beard!" I almost yelled. "You scared the hell out me."

"What are you going to do now James?" she glared at me. It was a bit funny she was standing there with a serious expression and her long blonde hair shining behind her.

"Couldn't sleep because you were thinking of me?" I joked.

"I am coming with you," she said evading my question.

"Who said I was going to go anywhere?" I glanced at the painting then back at her.

"We both know you were going to get the painting and take it to the trophy room," she told me.

"How did you know that?" I blurted out.

"I've known you for six years," she answered. "I'm going with you."

"Fine," I said. I wasn't going to continue fighting with her she was just wasting my time besides Alexa is a stubborn girl and by the time we would've ended our conversation (which would be never) it would've been like 5 in the morning.

"Let's go then," she smiled.

I rolled my eyes at her and followed. We grabbed the painting and checked the back. It was similar to the other one except that this one said:

GG 2/8

"This is the second piece," I murmured as I started to understand the words more or at least the numbers. "There must be eight in total."

"Let's take this one to the one in the trophy room first," Alexa told me. "We could investigate about the others later."

I nodded. We placed the invisibility cloak on top of us, grabbed the painting and left the common room. We were walking down the stairs towards the common room when we heard something. "Wait," I told Alexa. I watched as Neville Longbottom opened a large door and walked away silently. I stared at the door and noticed that I've never seen it before then noticed that it was disappearing.

"What was that?" Alexa asked.

"I have no idea," I replied. "Let's go to the trophy room."

What was that about? I must admit that it made me a bit curious but I would discover that later right now I had to focus on the mission which was to get the painting to the trophy room. We continued walking down towards the trophy room. We were almost caught twice but thanks to the invisibility cape and the marauders map we escaped from any trouble.

"After you," I said as I pulled the door open with my free hand.

Alexa simply rolled her eyes and walked in. "Let's put the paintings together."

"So what do we do know?" I told her as we walked towards the painting. They didn't seem to react or anything.

"It was your plan," Alexa said.

I glared at her and then grabbed the painting. I placed the painting next to the other one. At first nothing happened then the painting connected like if they were part of a puzzle then a golden light appeared blinding us.

"Where am I?" I blurted out as I opened my eyes finding myself in a graveyard. I stood quickly trying to figure out what was going on.

"Who are you?" asked a voice from behind me.

I turned around to find myself looking at an old ghost something about him seemed familiar. You could notice that before he died he had red hair and probably green eyes well at least that's what I thought.

"Thee art an odd Gryffindor," he said. "Thy expected someone more fit."

"Wait," I looked at him for a few seconds then recognized him. "You're Godric Gryffindor!"

"About time boy," he laughed once again. "Thee were beginning to worry me."

"Am I dead!?" I asked as panic begun to invade me. My mother was going to kill me for this! I was too young to die. I hadn't even graduated from Hogwarts! Who was going to bother Albus now? Who was going to protect Lily? Who was going to be there for Alexa!?

"No," Godric responded. "Thee are not dead."

"Then how am I here?" I asked him.

"Thee connected the two paintings," he explained. "Thee opened a door to you mind."

"What?" I asked once again not understanding a single word he said.

"By connecting the two paintings thee released something that wasn't meant to exist," he said. "Fortunately, that something can't completely escape since the door wasn't fully open."

"So what do I do now?" I had no idea what was going on and I needed to get back to Hogwarts soon.

"Thee have to find the other paintings before it's too late," he told me. "Thee must finish what thy couldn't."

"What does that mean?" I looked at him confused. I had no idea what was happening maybe I've gone crazy.

"There's no time to explain," Godric said. "Thy will see you soon. Be brave James Potter."

"James!" Alexa slapped me. "Wake up!"

"Ow!" I complained as I woke up. "No need to slap me!"

"A light came out of the paintings and then you fainted," she said rapidly with a worried expression. "What happened?"

"I-I don't know," I told her. I turned towards the two paintings which somehow had united and turned into a painting completely different than the ones before. This painting was very different from the other one that just had lines and the one with the Gryffindor lion.

"I am sure it didn't say that before," Alexa whispered.

"I am going to take it to my room," I told her. "We have to find the other six."

"Six?" she raised an eyebrow.

"I'll explain later," I said. I stood and walked towards the painting which had the words "Be Brave" painted in flames.
