Katherine scoffed as she moved around the study room of the Mikaelson mansion. It was just as she thought it would look. Business like décor with two desks, one next to a walled bookshelf, and a smaller more organized one against the far wall.
Two couches and a sofa, both dark tan sat in the center of the room, with a bar full of drinks against the wall next to the door. It just screamed male dominance.
She shrugged, carelessly. She needed a drink if she was going to get through this morning. She started towards the bar, and was pouring her a glass when someone entered the room.
"By all means, help yourself." Klaus remarked, wirily.
Katherine smiled, and nodded. "Don't mind if I do." She responded, lifting the glass to him.
Klaus grasped the glass, and walked over to the large desk, and leaned against edge, while his eyes watched her carefully. His dark jean clad legs crossed at the ankle, and his dark grey Henley gave him the mark of authority.
She smirked at his look, and took a swig of the liquid in the glass. "Are you going to ask me or just stare at me?" She asked, taking another sip.
Klaus smirked. "You haven't changed much, have you?" He asked, sipping from his glass.
She smiled, and shook her head. "No, not much." She replied, cocking her head to the side.
He placed his glass on the desk behind him, and then crossed his arms over his chest. "What are you doing here, Katherine?" He asked, watching her swallow the rest of the drink before placing the glass back on the bar.
She sighed, and moved around the room, running her fingers of her left hand over the back of the leather sofa. "I came to help a friend." She replied, honestly.
Klaus nodded, and lowered his eyes. "How do you know Caroline?" He asked, carefully.
She lifted her gaze to his, and smiled. "We're old friends." She answered, leaning against the sofa, crossing her arms in a sassy manner.
Klaus smirked. "You don't have friends, Katherine." He replied, with a light chuckle.
Katherine shook her head. "Neither do you, Klaus." She remarked, with an attitude.
Klaus lowered his head, and took a moment to control his anger. "How did you two meet?" He asked, curiously.
She rolled her eyes. "Overseas." She stated, simply.
He chuckled. "You're not going to tell me, are you?" He asked, with a glare.
She shook her head. "No, I'm not." She remarked, shrugging her shoulders.
"You know, we made a deal that you would never return to New Orleans." Klaus began, watching her shift on her feet.
"Well, deals can be broken, Klaus, especially for friends." She replied, saucily.
Klaus smirked. "Well, then, how about a new deal?" He began, standing straighter. "How about you tell me the truth about Caroline, or I kill you right here?" He asked, coldly.
Katherine narrowed her eyes. "Threats won't work, Klaus." She began, facing him with a straight back, and fire flashing in her eyes. "I won't betray my friend, and besides, if you kill me, there won't be a chance in hell for you with her." She remarked with an iced tone.
Klaus narrowed his eyes, and his face held a dark glare. He didn't speak for a few moments, only stared into the stubborn eyes of Katherine Pierce. "Your loyalty to your friend is admirable, Katherine, but trust me when I say, if you do anything to cross me while you're here, I will destroy you in every way possible, until killing you would be the easy way out." He stated, firmly.
Katherine smirked. "Glad we understand one another, Klaus." She whispered, quirking her brow.
Klaus smirked, coldly, and backed away. "Now leave." He stated, turning back to his desk.
Katherine smiled, and backed up a little ways. "By the way, you should know, if you hurt her in any way, your threat will me nothing to me." She remarked loudly.
Klaus turned around, and narrowed his eyes.
"I will kill you." She added, coldly with a deadly smile. "And you know I can."
Klaus clenched his jaw, and jutted his jaw forward, but didn't say word as she disappeared from the house, leaving only the resounding sound of the front door closing behind her.

Katherine huffed as she stormed down the long trellis covered walkway from his house. He certainly hadn't changed since she met him five years ago.
Yes, she had met him. He was the one who told her of Elijah's deceit in the long run. No, she didn't tell Caroline, not yet anyway.
She had meant what she said, she was going to protect her friend, and if that meant protect her from the likes of Klaus Mikaelson, then that is just what she would do.
Unfortunately, judging from what Katherine witnessed a few moments ago, he cared just as much as she did for the blonde Marshal.
She slowed her walk and turned to look at the house. Klaus was falling for her friend that much was obvious, and she knew a Mikaelson in love was just as dangerous as one not in love, or perhaps more.
She closed her eyes. Her friend was getting too deep in this, and it was her job to help her out. Even if that meant staying in New Orleans, and help Caroline find the Hybrid.
Oh, God, what has she gotten into now?
"I take it the meeting with my brother didn't do much for your anger."
Katherine stopped at the end of the walkway, and turned her head to the right to see Elijah standing next the rose covered trellis with his right hand curved at his waist, and his left hand in the pocket of his business suit. He looked divine, but she couldn't dwell on that, not now.
"Well, you know how well I get along with him." She stated, shrugging her shoulders.
Elijah smirked. Yes, he knew. Klaus and Katherine went together like hot oil and water, not well. "Is there somewhere you need to be?" He asked, taking a step towards her.
Katherine narrowed her eyes. "Yes, I have to save my friend." She remarked, turning to walk up the street.
Elijah shook his head, and followed her. "Katerina."
Katherine paused on the street, and closed her eyes. He knew what her nickname did to her, and she hated that.
"What do you want, Elijah?" She asked, finally turning to face him. "Because I don't want to argue…" She trailed off, when he reached forward with his right hand, and caressed her cheek.
"I don't want to argue either, Katerina." He whispered, in a low sultry tone.
Katherine swallowed hard, and tried her best to break out of his enticing gaze, but the more she stood there, the more she wanted to slam her lips against his. She knew exactly what his lips led to, and she was not ready for that. He had betrayed her. He had…
His lips landed on hers, began to softly caress hers in an expert, loving form. Katherine felt her knees weaken, and her arms trailed up to caress his hip, and left bicep. Her mouth opened, allowing him to explore her mouth with his tongue. God, the things that man could accomplish with just his tongue!
His right hand began to thread through her dark curls, and she felt her body begin to start flames in her veins. She needed to stop this, but as her mouth opened wider, and she let out a moan, she knew it was impossible.
She felt his left hand on her jean covered hip, and pull her closer to his body, when she found the usual response she remembered all too well. Just the memory of that, caused her to shiver involuntarily.
Elijah slowly pulled back, and caught her bottom lip between his, and gently sucked it as he pulled back. "I wanted that." He whispered, opening his eyes to find hers still closed and a small smile playing on her lips.
Katherine was still in a haze, until she opened her eyes, and found his, in a loving sensuous gaze. She straightened her back, and started to push away from him, but found his arms locked around her.
"I hate you." She whispered, with a glare from her almond eyes.
He smiled, and moved his right hand to run his thumb over her kissed swollen lips. "No, you don't, Katerina, just like I don't hate you." He whispered, softly.
Katherine shook her head, but couldn't stop the shivers from her body at his touch. She wanted him, she always wanted him. She loved him, still, but she couldn't give in. Not now.
"Let me go, Elijah." She stated, firmly, but her eyes conveyed softness, shown only to him.
Elijah shook his head. "It's been too long, Katerina, too long since I've had you in my arms." He whispered, bending slightly to kiss her forehead.
She shook her head. "You had your chance, and you blew it." She stated, finally pushing away from him. "I know what game you're playing, Elijah." She added, stepping further back. "You think you could use my affections for you to get the answers you want or Klaus wants, well, I got news for you." She paused, glancing at the house, and then back at him. "I'm not going to play. As long as my friend is in New Orleans, so will I and it won't be to rekindle whatever we once had." She remarked, with a strong tone, turning and walking away, quickly.
Elijah sighed as he watched her go. It wasn't a game, he was playing. It was his heart, and he learned two things from that encounter.
One, Katherine still loved him and two, she had gotten stronger, and by God, he loved her even more.
Now, he just needed to convince her of that, if she would let him.

"Men, I hate them!" Katherine raged, as Caroline opened the door to allow her friend inside.
Caroline smiled at her friend's rampage, and locked the door after she closed it before turning to Katherine who was fuming, and staring out the window. "I take it the meeting didn't go so well." She replied, crossing her arms over her robe covered chest. She had just gotten out of the shower when her friend knocked on the door.
Katherine scoffed. "Well, let's just say, Klaus is still a conniving bastard." She stated, shaking her head. "And his brother is just as bad." She added, with a hint of pain.
Caroline sat down on the bed. "Elijah?" She asked, watching Katherine stiffen her back. "What did he do?" She asked, though judging from her friend's posture it was something unexpected.
"Klaus or Elijah?" Katherine asked, with a laugh.
Caroline shrugged. "Elijah." She answered, not really wanting to know the details between her and Klaus.
Katherine closed her eyes and bowed her head. "He kissed me." She whispered, finally turning to her friend.
Caroline smiled for a moment and then her smile faded. "I take it you didn't want him to kiss you." She remarked, shaking her head.
Katherine threw her head back. "Of course I wanted him to kiss me. It's just…" She trailed off, moving to the bed, and sat down next to her friend. "I know when I'm being used, and I don't want that to happen. Not with Elijah." She added, finally.
Caroline nodded. "Kat, that's understandable." She replied, placing her hand on her friend's arm. "But it kind of sounds like you're playing hard to get with him." She added, leaning over to her.
Katherine glared at her friend. "I am not." She stated, standing up, and crossing her arms over her chest.
Caroline tilted her head to the side, and smirked.
Katherine groaned. "God, Forbes, I hate it when you're reasonable." She stated, though she smiled lightly.
Caroline shrugged, and stood up. "Well, sometimes reasonable is best." She replied, with a laugh.
Katherine nodded. "You're getting ready for a lunch date?" She asked, motioning to Caroline's robe.
Caroline nodded. "He called right after you left this morning, and invited me. He wants me to meet him at his mansion." She remarked, moving to her suitcase.
"Well, I'll leave you to get ready." Katherine said, moving towards the door. "Just remember what I told you, Caroline, be on your guard, when it comes to a Mikaelson, there is no telling what they will do, especially Klaus." She added, firmly, watching the blonde nod her head, before leaving the room.
Caroline sighed and sat down on the bed and bowed her head. It was moments like this; she really wished her mom was here.

Katherine walked out of the hotel, and stopped in midstride, as she saw Elijah leaning against his silver Jaguar.
"We need to talk." He replied, as he opened the door for her.
Katherine glared at him. "Talk about what?" She asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
Elijah lifted his left hand, and held up a receiver, causing Katherine to immediately touch her pockets. "You son of a bitch." She stated, angrily when she pulled out a small transmitter.
Elijah frowned. "Forbes."
Katherine straightened her back, and lifted her chin higher in the air, before finally walking towards him, and climbed inside the car, and glared at him as he closed the door. God, she was an idiot.

Caroline followed the directions Klaus had given her, and arrived at the location, only to be rendered speechless. The house was three stories with light red bricks, two French doors on the third and second floors with a balcony. The first floor had a glass door at the very end of a rose covered trellis down a lengthy walkway.
It was gorgeous, and yet simple. She looked down at her skinny black jeans, strapless layered top with a small cardigan, and suddenly felt a little intimidated by the house.
She inhaled deeply, and made her way down the walkway, and stopped outside the door. She rang the doorbell, and bowed her head, until the door opened. She held her breathe as she studied the man in front of her.
He was dressed in jeans, a dark Henley, and he had almost six necklaces around his neck, and a smirk showing off his dimples on his face.
"I see you didn't have trouble finding the house." He replied, stepping aside as she entered the house.
She shook her head. "No, you gave pretty detailed directions." She replied, looking around the house. Paintings lined the wall, and a grand staircase was in the center of the hall with a quaint chandelier hanging from the ceiling. Wooden floors stretched over the walkways, and she could just imagine sliding across the floor for only a moment.
Klaus closed the door, and approached her. "I'm glad you accepted my invitation." He whispered, standing behind her, only to whisper in her ear.
Caroline closed her eyes, and smiled. For the first time in a long time, she didn't mind a man's presence, and she didn't know if she should or not.
Katherine's warning from earlier disappeared from her mind as she unconsciously leaned back against his chest.
For the first time in a long time, she felt relaxed, like she belonged here. "I'm glad I came." She whispered, unconsciously.
Klaus smiled, and slowly wrapped his arms around her waist. He felt her ease against him, and suddenly his heart lifted in his chest.
For the two weeks, they had been seeing each other, Klaus watched her ease up around him, and become more comfortable, but not comfortable enough to let him completely in.
Caroline smiled at the casual way he wrapped his arms around her. She never dreamed it would feel like this. She bowed her head, and turned around to face him, as she lifted her arms to wrap around his neck.
He smiled as he bent his head to her, and placed his forehead against hers. "I missed you, love." He whispered, watching her smile.
"Did you, or did you just miss asking questions?" She asked, coyly.
He smirked, and pulled her closer to him. "I did." He whispered his accent deep and sultry.
She smiled, and leaned forward to gently kiss him on the lips. "I missed you." She whispered, not really sure why she said that.
He smiled and kissed her once more, before pulling away. "I have a surprise for you, love." He whispered, taking her hands in his.
She tilted her side, and smirked. "Really, what is it?" She asked, with a gleam in her eyes.
He chuckled, and shook his head. "Follow me." He whispered, leading her towards the back of the house to the French doors, which led out into the back garden.
Caroline's eyes widened as she took in the sight before her. There in the center of the garden sat a small table with a white lace cover, two plates and a bottle of wine sitting elegantly on top. Surrounding the table was a fence with a gazebo in the far corner; lights lit up the roses lining the fence, and covered the gazebo, bringing it a white light amidst the now cloudy sky. It was beautiful, and simple.
"This is…perfect." She whispered, her eyes moving over the scenery.
Klaus smiled, and searched her face. "I'm glad you approve, love." He whispered, tipping his head.
She leaned forward. "Are you trying to seduce me?" She asked, coyly.
He chuckled, and leaned forward, towards her. "Is it working?" He asked, watching her shrug.
"You might have to try a little harder." She replied, sending a wink his way.
"So you're saying I have a chance." He returned, watching her twist her mouth to the side.
"I'm saying: I'm too smart to be seduced by just this." She whispered, watching him chuckle.
He nodded. "Well, then, I'll have to try harder." He replied, leading her to the table, and helped her to her seat.
"You know this is not what I expected when I found out who you were." She replied, elegantly placing a napkin on her lap.
He smiled, as he sat down, and copied her gesture. "Oh, what did you expect, love?" He asked, leaning on the table.
She smiled, and looked around her. "Oh, I expected a hard man, who kills on a whim, and doesn't have an ounce of humanity in him." She replied, shrugging her shoulders.
Klaus' face changed slightly, though he quickly recovered before she looked his way once more. "And now?" He asked, after a moment, his voice conveying the roughness of his words.
Caroline smiled and dipped her head. "Now, I see a man who can be hard, and who does kill, but I also see his humanity." She replied in a low tone.
He smiled, and nodded. "It comes with the territory, the killing." He remarked, lifting his glass of wine to his lips.
She nodded. "I know." She whispered, remembering the first time she ever killed.
He frowned. "I could never see you killing anyone." He replied, absently.
Caroline lifted her eyes to his, and tilted her head once more. "I wish I could say the same." She returned, softly. "But I can't."
He nodded, and set his glass down. "Why are you in this business if you hate killing?" He asked, watching her tense for a second.
She inhaled and bowed her head. "I told you that I sort of fell into the business, and it's true. I had no choice, and sometimes when you want to continue something you're good at, you have to do something that you consider morally wrong." She replied, quietly, shrugging her shoulders.
He nodded, and remained quiet for a moment. "I saw you last night with Marcel." He replied, quietly.
Caroline smiled. "You mean the man who is now tending to a broken nose?" She asked, with a quiet laugh.
He smiled, and nodded. "I saw that." He replied, with a laugh. "I thought you handled yourself very well, love." He remarked, softly.
She blushed and nodded. "Thank you, though I imagine he wouldn't think so." She replied, sipping from her glass.
He smirked. "Well, it doesn't really matter what he thinks." He replied, watching her smile.
She shook her head. "No, it doesn't." She remarked, moving her eyes around.
"Though, I think it would be best if you avoided Marcel in the future." He replied, firmly.
Caroline lifted her eyes. "Is that an order?" She asked, watching him shake his head.
"No, it's merely a piece of advice." He answered, resolutely.
She pursed her lips together, and moved to stand up. She walked towards the gazebo, and fingered the lights hanging on the columns of the gazebo. She smiled as the light flickered off her hands, and she was taken back in time for only a moment, until she felt someone standing beside her.
"Why are you doing this?" She asked, out of the blue.
He touched the column, and leaned forward on it. "You know why." He answered, quietly.
She shook her head. "No, that's not the reason, Klaus." She replied, turning to look at him. "Yeah, you started out to get information out of me because the Hybrid wants you to, but now…why?" She asked, shrugging.
He sighed, and leaned on the gazebo. "Because I want to know you, Caroline, despite our jobs, I want to know you." He explained, watching her close her eyes. "You make me believe that I can have a normal life, and I don't know why, after almost three weeks, I feel that way, but I do, and I want nothing more than to find out why." He whispered, lowly, his accent dragging slightly.
She shook her head. "You may not like what you find, Klaus." She whispered, shakily. "We are gun smugglers. We are not supposed to have a normal life." She stated, lying slightly.
He smiled, and pushed her blonde hair behind her ear with his left hand. "Anyone can have a normal life, Caroline, and as for what I have found so far." He paused, smiling brightly. "I see a woman who is more special than I ever imagined." He whispered, searching her tear filled eyes.
"You should be committed." She whispered, with a smile. "Because you stealing my walls." She added, softly, as a tear fell from her eyes.
He swiftly wiped it away, and smiled tenderly. "For that, I will gladly be committed." He whispered, leaning forward.
She smiled and captured his lips with hers. She caressed his cheek with her right hand, and tilted her head to the side, letting him delve deeper into her mouth.
She moaned and felt him pull her closer to him. She didn't know when she became dependent on what he thought, but she did. In these past few weeks, she had surrendered more to him than to any other man in her life.
She wanted to tell him. She wanted to, and she should. She needed to tell him before this went any further. Before she fell any further than she already had.
Yes, she was falling in love with Klaus. She hadn't planned on it, but she was. Running her fingers through his hair, she pushed her body close to his, and felt something against her body. She wanted to pull away, or at least her mind was telling her to, but it was being silenced by her heart.
She wanted this. She wanted him. She…wanted…him.
Slowly, Klaus pulled back, and read her face. He smiled, tenderly. "I want this too, but it's too soon, love." He whispered, against what his body was telling him.
She smiled, and felt a blush touch her cheeks. "One of these days." She whispered, knowing he knew what she meant.
He smiled, and kissed her lips quickly before placing his forehead on hers. One of these days she would tell him everything, and that day was going to be the day she gave him her heart, and he would give her his.
That would be the day they would both give in.
