Sonny comes out of his heavy sleep state, feeling uncomfortable. He opens his eyes to an unknown ceiling . He waits till he's more conscious to understand, with one certitude, Will is lying next to him. So all is fine. He turns a little and feels the hard floor under his back. Of course : using his big innocent eyes, Will has coaxed him into trading his bed at the studio against this makeshift camp. As wonderful as the night has been, Sonny's strained muscles give him regrets this morning. He puts one hand behind his neck and massages slowly. Another hand dislodge his and replace it while two soft lips come and lay such a tender kiss, Sonny forgets to complain and opens his mouth. Their tongues link and dance a while, until Will's stomach puts a grumbling stop to the delicate moment, making them chuckle "Morning, my love, if you want to eat, remember the fridge is filled." "Oh, Yeah! I'll thank Payne later! I wouldn't have managed until we go to Common Ground." Sonny smiles and gives a peck to the tip of Will's nose "If you want, I'll fix some sandwiches and we can eat there for lunch." Will grimaces "Can't, my lectures are almost back to back so I'll go and eat at the college cafeteria. We can do something tonight though..." "Another camping meal?" Will's face lights at the memory and Sonny brushes his cheek with awe. Will puts his hand on Sonny's and replies " In fact, we could go out, you know, like eat at the Pub and go to a club or the movies, what do you think?" Sonny wraps his arms around Will and pulls him against his chest "I have trouble deciding anything that early. My mind is busy with something else, I need to calm it down first." He starts peppering Will with kisses and feels him shaking with laughter "OK, we'll see later, but we must hurry. I have to go back home to take a school book and I start college at nine..." Sonny breathes, as sensually as he can muster "I can do quick. I can do slow, you decide." "What if I can't decide either?" Sonny turns Will on his back like a cute turtle "Then I'll do it for you. I'm not against taking control, if you want it..." Will's mouth reconnects with his, hard this time and takes his breath and half his brain away. In the end, it goes pretty fast as they are both quite aroused. Will is a tad late when Sonny leaves him in front of his class. Sonny watches him with satisfaction as he pushes the door open. Will is getting there. He's sure of it. It's on him to protect him from any kind of aggression until he's out of the wood. They have a session with Marlena the next day and he's adamant he won't get out of her office without having said to Will, in front of a witness, how important he is to him.
As he's forgotten the key to the coffee-house at the new apartment, Sonny goes back and take the opportunity to finish tidying their mess. He's estimating which cupboard they're going to need and where when there's a knock on the door.
He opens and finds himself facing Mary "Hi Sonny, remember me?" "Sure! Come in!" Mary shakes her head "No, it's fine. I was just passing by before going to class. I wanted to invite the two of you to our salsa lesson. There's an open doors day and if you were to like it... I'd love to go there with friends!" Sonny notes she looks much more confident when talking about the lesson "Hum, why not... Unless they don't accept... same-sex couples?" "Oh..." Mary goes up many degrees in Sonny's esteem when he can see she hadn't even thought about that. He thinks she must be the one who encouraged her boyfriend to spend time with their gay neighbors. It happens sometimes in couples. Sonny wonders if Will will find the dance lesson idea ridiculous or not. Well, it would be just giving it a try and if he said no, Sonny wouldn't be hurt anyway. "I'll tell Will about it and we'll let you know. When is it?" "Friday evening." After a friendly wave, she's gone.
After a series of texts, going from practical to passionate, passing through hilarious (like 'We could parachute jump...' 'From which height? Not higher than your bed...' or 'I'm so hungry I could eat a horse.' 'Then that's settled. We'll go to the horse race building after hours.'), they choose to try a new restaurant next to the lake for diner under the stars. Sonny finds the prices. It's not out of their reach but it's a small luxury. They'll have to savor every minute...
The meal is surprising and delicious. The air is warm on the barely lit terrace. And nature offers a free show under the form of a shooting stars shower. They go sit on a couch, hand in hand, pointing to each new one. Sonny's head is filled with wishes. All of them involve Will apart from the last one which is just for himself 'I wish to be successful in my line of work' although if he were to finish his thoughts, Will would come up as it's for him that he wants to afford the nicest things in life. Will puts his head on his shoulder and whispers "It's a great evening, we'll have to go out more..." "Oh, Will, I forgot to tell you... What would you say to a salsa lesson?" Will emits a gurgling noise. Sonny waits. Then Will replies hesitantly "It's an idea, but..." OK, he doesn't like it. End of story. But Will talks on "Humm... The thing, my love is that, you know I love you and you're the best?" "Yeah..." Sonny feels a criticism coming up and laughs inwardly at Will's diplomatic and worried tone "I would say, that, when it comes to dancing... You're not the rules-following kind..." Sonny puts on a hangdog look "Really...?" Will backpedals "But I love watching you move, I swear and I'm never ashamed, on the contrary and I'm not very good either and..." Sonny feels the situation go awry. He wanted to tease Will and had forgotten his fragility. He hugs him tight, feeling the quick heartbeat of his baby bird of a boyfriend "I was kidding, Will, promise! I know I dance weirdly. It's Mary, you know, Sebastian's girlfriend, who invited us. But we don't have to go, there's no pressure, I didn't commit to anything, just that I would ask you." He hopes Will won't feel humiliated for having overreacted for a stupid little thing, but he feels him relax and, in the dark, see his eyes sparkle "All right, then, let's go. But you'll have to come up to my standards..." "I thought you didn't like to be up?" Will kisses him, getting the last word of the discussion... or rather the last kiss.
