Sonny glances at the booth where Will and his father are seated. Lucas looks drained. His face is set, his eyes are stiff. He's barely answered to Sonny's greetings and he doesn't know if he should excuse him given the crap he's going through or be vexed that Lucas still doesn't consider him "family". With Will's views on marriage, it's not going to change anytime soon. But now's not the time for self-pity. After all, he is still happy with Will, unlike Lucas and Sami, plus Chad is sick today and the coffee-house is packed with customers. One hour later, Emily, the new recruit, tells him she's leaving Salem for New-York. He'll have to hire again, even though he was craving for a little rest, after all their adventures. Will has left to see his mother and Sonny takes the time to send a few supportive texts. He knows how much Will can love and how empathic he can be. He looks for distraction ideas and gets tempted again by a trip abroad, for the summer, maybe. He'll have to hunt for promotions.
Abby has come for a quick update on Chad, who, it seems, is making the better of being looked after. The fever is real, though "Do you think it has to do with his time on the run?" He sees Abby close her eyes and apologizes "Sorry to bring up bad memories..." But she looks at him, serene "Don't be, I'm beginning to forget. Actually, what happened is that this moron likes to pretend it's August already and spends his evening in T-shirts. I don't want to play Mom, but really..." Sonny chuckles and feels better. He spots T and Audrey coming in and finds them a table before going to the storage room. He emerges ten minutes later and rushes back and forth to take orders until T gets fed up "Sonny, if you don't want to talk, just say it!" Sonny pauses and answers, sarcastic "I'm sorry, T, I'll just ignore my customers and talk about the weather with you for fifteen minutes. I'm sure it'll be good for business..." T shrugs "Ok, forget it! You should hire more!" It's Sonny's turn to shrug "It's on the list, I'll have to replace an employee. Unless you're interested, let it go..." He wants to bite his tongue when T answers enthusiastic "Oh, yeah! I so am. What's better than a cool little job, with a cool boss who's dating my best mate! Tell me when I can start!" Audrey raises her eyes in an exasperated way "T, you don't know how to behave... Sonny was just kidding! You really think you could pull this off?" A call from the other side of the room saves Sonny from witnessing the oncoming fight. Will's parents are not the only one couple crumbling. With such a bad day for couples, Sonny is determined to be extra-prudent.
Will comes back rather late, as only few customers are still here, so Sonny takes the opportunity to squeeze him in a tight hug. He feels him relax a little "Thanks, my lovely darling. I need you." Will's innocent and frank voice goes straight to his heart and he replies "I'm here, kitten. Always." Will kisses him so sensually that, if it weren't for the remaining customers, Sonny would drag him to his office for a more intimate show of support. He just whispers the promise in Will's ear and starts putting things in order. Half-an-hour later, the door is closed and Sonny works faster while Will is lying on the couch with flat eyes. Sonny remembers when his own parents split up. The hurting. How he felt he didn't exist quite as much. Will has really turned great with what he's been through. Sonny feels ashamed of his recent fears. Will is loyal and knows the value of love. He wants him more and more and can't wait to reach the apartment. Will is softy moaning, lying on the back seat, his hands lost in Sonny's hair. He doesn't reciprocate but Sonny is still satisfied. They go home, hand in hand. Thirty seconds later, Sonny is lying on the bed, trying to not let Will rip off his clothes in his haste to get him naked. He finally lets go and enjoys the burning, intense sensations, coupled with Will's inherent softness.
Once they are just lying still, next to the other, Sonny listens to his man telling him about his rather depressing day. He kisses his temple and starts talking about Chad and Abby and announces his barista's departure. "You'll have to go through interviews again, then?" "I don't know... T has stated he was interested and I'm starting to consider giving him a shot..." Will smirks "You, spend your day with him? I want to see that!" "We'll see. He's your friend after all. He must have some hidden qualities, deep under." Will laughs and it's magical, he is getting distracted. "He has some, believe me. And yet, when I came out, it wasn't rosy at first. He took it very bad and afterward he didn't know how to act. A little like Sebastian, you know?" Sonny arches his eyebrows "You had noticed? I wanted to tell you about it." Oh, I'm not blind. I can see he's making efforts and Payne says he's nice. I'm giving him a chance." That is so Will. Sonny kisses him and holds him in his arms. Just before falling asleep, he hears "Thanks for being always here."
