~Five Years Earlier~
Pain ripped through her body, as she sat up in the small room, and threw her head back in pain. She let out a resounding cry, and inhaled deeply as she tried to focus on the goal laid out before her.
"Get it out!" She screamed, glaring at the man kneeling between her legs.
"One more push, Katherine, and we'll have it." He replied, calmly.
Katherine screamed and threw her head back, pushing her body to the limits as she did. She had been in labor for sixteen hours, and it was about time for her to meet the one who caused her this much pain.
A sound of a baby crying filled the room, and she collapsed onto the bed, and let out an exhausted laugh.
"Congratulations, Katherine, you have a son." The doctor replied, laying the small newborn in his mother's weak, but steady arms.
Katherine smiled, and pushed the blanket away from his face, and brushed her left pointer finger over his cheek. "Hello, little one, I've been waiting for you." She whispered, as the child slowly closed his eyes, and drifted off to sleep.
Gently, the nurse took the sleeping babe from his mother, and carried him out the door.
Katherine smiled, and felt her eyes drift slowly closed as the exhaustion from the delivery hit her in waves. "When can I see him again?" She asked, before she drifted off to sleep.
As she succumbed to her drowsy state, the doctor lowered the mask from his face, and shook his head. "Never, Katherine, never again."
~Present~
Katherine sighed as she wrapped her arms around her stomach, and felt a tear fall down her face.
"Katerina?"
She bowed her head, and quickly wiped the tears from her face. "What do you want, Elijah?" She asked, finally turning her head to glance at him.
Elijah slowly approached, and took in her slightly red eyes, and sorrowful look. "What's wrong?" He asked, tenderly.
She scoffed, and moved away from him. "None of your damn business." She stated, harshly, but the pain was evident in her voice.
Elijah sighed, and wanted to touch her, but figured she would move away from him. "Katerina," He whispered, stepping closer to her.
Katherine couldn't stop the tears from falling down her face as her eyes closed to keep them behind the lids. She sighed as she felt hands gently wipe the tears away from her cheeks. Slowly, she opened her eyes, and caught his eyes. Her mouth opened, and she wanted to tell him the reason, but the words stuck in her throat.
Elijah sighed, and nodded. "I know." He whispered, watching her eyes widen slightly.
"You know what?" She asked, her voice conveying what she feared.
Elijah searched her eyes, and stroked her face lightly. "I know about our son." He replied, causing her to step back. "I know what happened to him."

Caroline placed her hands over her stomach as she gazed out the window of the bedroom. She remembered the day she received the news from the doctor that she would never be able to have children. It was a dark day, and her mother had rushed her to the doctor, her father stayed behind, hoping she didn't return.
Once she entered the hospital, it took threats from her mother for the doctors to see her, for they knew who she was and who her father was.
The look on the doctor's face when he told her that there was too much damage, and he couldn't save her uterus, destroyed her life at that moment, and she never trusted doctors ever again.
This was why, when she went to the family doctor of the Mikaelson's, she couldn't believe the news: the doctor, ten years ago, lied to her.
She lowered her gaze to her stomach, and swallowed hard. When she had doubled over in pain one afternoon and bleeding, Klaus drove her to the see their doctor, and even held her hand until they had taken her back for a full examination.
The doctor had explained that while there was scar tissue close to her uterus, the wound did not penetrate the wall; in fact it didn't even hit her uterus. Instead, it had just grazed her kidney, but it hadn't done much damage. This was said after she had performed a HSG test.
Caroline took a deep breathe, and lifted her head to the window. She still couldn't fully believe the news. She could have children. She could have a family, and a life.
But why had the doctor lied all those years ago, and told her that she couldn't have any more children?
Her eyes widened as she realized why. Her father.
Turning to her right, she saw a small wooden chair sitting next to the wall. She recognized it from when Klaus stayed by her side for a few days after the rescue when she drifted in and out of consciousness. In her fury, she reached for the chair, and threw it as hard as she could towards the far wall, knocking over the small table resting there, and destroyed both. She screamed as she fell to her knees, and covered her face with her hands.
Her father had tried to destroy her life, and she had paid the ultimate price. She felt him enter the room, and knelt down beside her after the crash had quieted, but she didn't say a word as he gazed at her with concern in his eyes.
"He lied to me." She replied, sniffing, and let out a sob. "He lied." She repeated.
Klaus sighed, and placed his right arm around her shoulders, and pulled her to his chest. He didn't know what to say. He closed his eyes at the pain he heard in her voice, and silently cursed William Forbes for hurting her once more.
"Oh, God!" Caroline cried, leaning unconsciously towards him. "He lied!" She cried out, grasping his shirt. "Damn him!" She sobbed, shaking her head against his chest.
Klaus sighed, and closed his eyes at the pain he heard in her voice. He didn't know what to say to make her feel better or to quiet her sobs, so instead, he held her.
He bowed his head, and kissed the top of her head, and gently rocked her in his arms. "Do you want to talk about it?" He whispered, feeling her still for a moment before she let out a soft cry.
"He ruined my life." She answered after a moment, slowly separating from him, and lifting her gaze to his for a brief moment. "He bribed the doctor to tell me that I couldn't have children, and let me believe that my life was worthless." She added, lowering her gaze, finally closing her eyes.
Klaus swallowed, and gently wiped away her tears with his hand, and caressed her face. "Is that what Dr. Meredith told you?" He asked, softly.
Caroline sniffed, and slowly nodded. "She did a test where she could see what was happening inside me, after she examined me, and told me that my uterus was fine." She paused, lowering her head. She dreaded telling him the news. "There was minor scar tissue around my kidneys, but nothing too serious." She paused, pushing away from him, and standing up.
Klaus followed her, knowing something wasn't right. There was something she wasn't telling him. "Caroline?"
She bowed her head, and placed her hand on her stomach. "I was pregnant." She whispered, tears falling down her face. "I was pregnant, and I lost the baby." She added, finally turning to look him in the eyes. "I lost our baby."
At that moment, Klaus' world collapsed, and new anger formed inside him. Anger towards William Forbes.

Rebekah sighed as she approached the door. She needed to see him, and now seemed as good a time as any. She lifted her hand, and gently knocked on the door, and waited patiently until the door opened. Her eyes widened as she took in the sight before her.
Standing in front of her was Stefan Salvatore wearing nothing but a towel around his waist, his chest slightly wet, along with his hair. He looked like he had just stepped out of the shower, and her mouth watered at the sight.
"Rebekah?"
Rebekah snapped out of her trance, and gave her head a quick shake, before she stepped back, her nerves running away from her. "I'm sorry. I'll come back later." She replied, nervously.
Stefan reached forward before she could move away from him, and grasped her right wrist, and gently pulled her forward, into his room before shutting the door behind her. "Rebekah?" He asked again, his voice more composed than before.
Rebekah stared at his chest, his very masculine chest, and finally tore her eyes away, and lifted them towards his, only to be put in a trance one more. "I came…to…to see…if…if…" She trailed off as his eyes searched hers.
Without a single thought more, Rebekah lifted her left hand, and grasped the back of his head, and pulled him towards her, only to slam her lips onto his in a passionate kiss that shook them both to the core as he returned it.
She moaned, and opened her mouth to accept his tongue, which was moving over her lips. Her body surged with new desire, and she wanted it to last forever.
Stefan let go of her right wrist, and placed his left hand around her waist, while his right hand weaved through her blonde tresses. So long had he waited on this precise moment, and now that it was here, he wanted it to last and last.
Slowly they pulled apart, but not long, as Stefan's towel fell to the floor, and his brow lifted in a devilish gaze. "Pushy aren't we?" He whispered, leaning forward, the air from his mouth brushing over her slightly swollen lips.
She smiled, and ran her fingers through his wet hair. "When I'm after something." She answered, huskily.
He chuckled, and brushed his lips over hers. "What are you after?" He asked, tempting her with slow, deliberate kisses.
She sighed, running her right hand over his bare chest, nails scrapping the skin, as her body arched against his. "You." She moaned, feeling his fingers run over her skin, as he pushed up the top slightly to get better access.
He smiled, and moved his right hand to her waist. "You've got me." He replied, pulling her shirt higher, until she raised her arms, and he slowly pulled it up to reveal her bare chest. He felt blood rush to his lower parts, and he contained a moan as he gazed upon her perfect breasts for the first time.
"I take it; I made the right decision, coming in here braless." She whispered, innocently.
He lifted his gaze to her eyes, and couldn't contain the moan as his lips crashed onto hers, bringing her bare chest in line with his.
She shivered, and moaned as she felt his skin touching hers, and she vaguely registered when he pushed her elastic shorts off her hips, along with her underwear. She smiled against his lips as he lifted her in his arms, and carried her to his bed, and gently laid her down, despite the manly urge he was feeling.
He gazed down at her, as she lifted the covers back, and slowly slipped in between them, as he rolled on top of her, kissing her lips as he did so.
"I've wanted this for so long." He whispered, against her lips.
She smiled, and moved her hands to his back and up to his shoulders as she returned the kiss. "So have I, Stefan." She whispered, lifting her right leg, and hooking it over his left.
He pulled back, and she could tell that he wanted to treat her special from the look in his eyes. She touched his face with her right hand, and sent him a tender smile. "Later." She promised, arching her hips upward, meeting his as he finally pushed forward.
"Bekah," He whispered, as he paused midway. "I don't have protection." He whispered, groaning as his hips began to push forward despite the fact that he was trying not to.
She smiled, and shook her head. "I'm on the pill." She whispered, before letting out a loud groan.
He sighed, and began to move, thrusting inside her, and pulling out, tantalizing them both. The bed rocked underneath them, and their moans filled the room.
They moved, rocked, clawed, kissed, and shouted obscenities that would make them blush in the daylight until they both felt the crashing of waves hit them, and they let out loud moans, shouting 'yes', and 'oh Stefan' as they hit the high that washed over them.
Stefan collapsed on top of her, feeling her body slick with sweat stick to his sweat drenched body. Lifting his face, he found her gazing at him with a look of contentment on her face, and he couldn't hold back the words he had wanted to say for three years. "I love you, Rebekah."
Rebekah smiled, and tears filled her eyes. "I love you, Stefan." She whispered, arching her hips underneath his, begging him to start over again.
And he did.

Katherine held her breathe, as Elijah told her of what had happened the day of she delivered their son, and anger and pain filled her heart with each detail.
"William Forbes took our son!" She shouted, jerking out of his grasp, fire filling her eyes.
Elijah nodded, but his face held few emotions. "He did, and I was too late to get to him in time, before Forbes took him out of the country." He replied, professionally, but Katherine heard the pain.
"Why would he do that?" She asked, glaring at him, but her anger was not directed at him.
Elijah turned his head, and sighed. "To get back at my family." He answered, finally. "He knew the child was mine, and he knew he could not allow a child to be born to the Mikaelson family for we would grow stronger, so he stole our child, and had the doctor tell you later that the child died." He explained, without emotion.
Katherine felt rage fill her soul at his words, and she whirled around to gaze at the roaring Mississippi river. "I'll kill him." She growled, running her fingers through her hair.
"If you mean the doctor, he has already been taken care of." Elijah replied, darkly, causing Katherine to turn to look at him.
She smiled as she understood his meaning, and slowly nodded. "How did you find out?" She asked, calmly.
Elijah stepped towards her, and raised his right hand to caress her face. "Do you honestly believe that I would abandon you after Klaus made you leave?" He asked, watching her lift her eyes to his. "I love you, Katerina. I never stopped, and I never forgot." He whispered, shaking his head, but his eyes remained constant on hers.
Katherine felt her heart lift at his words. "I love you too." She whispered, brokenly, lowering her eyes. "I want him back." She stated, lifting her eyes with determination. "I want our son back, Elijah." She added, fire flashing in her eyes.
Elijah smiled, and stroked her face. "Then we shall get him back, Katerina." He replied, leaning forward. "Together." He whispered, kissing her lips gently, sealing their decision.

Klaus watched as Caroline cried into her palms, and he moved forward, trying to think of the right words to say to make her see that he was still there.
"Are you okay?" He asked, calmly, though Caroline heard the tension in his voice.
She jerked her head up, and glared at him. "How can I be okay?" She shouted, slamming her hands against his chest. "I just lost our child, Klaus!" She shouted, slamming her hands once more. "I lost him!" She shouted, tears falling down her face.
Klaus grasped her wrists, and stilled her movements. He swallowed the emotions building up inside him, and he cupped her chin with his right hand, bringing her face up to gaze into her eyes. "It wasn't your fault, Caroline." He whispered, searching her eyes. "It wasn't your fault." He repeated, watching her gaze soften. He wanted to say it was his, for pushing her away, and leading her straight to her father. He closed his eyes, and turned his head a fraction. He turned it back, when he heard her say his name.
Caroline searched his eyes as he had searched hers, and sniffed. "It wasn't your fault either, Klaus." She whispered, feeling the pain hit her tenfold.
He sighed, and wanted to pull her into his arms and say you're right, but he couldn't. He didn't have the strength. He realized that even though they had apologized, and blatantly confessed their feelings, and was on the mend, he was poison to her. He had cost her their child.
Their child.
The pain at losing something that precious was the worst feeling he could feel. "You didn't answer my question." He replied, pain leaking into his words.
Caroline lowered her eyes, and tears fell down her face. "Physically, I'm fine." She answered, finally.
Klaus nodded, and moved to leave her.
"Please, don't." She cried, in a pleading voice.
Klaus paused, and turned to gaze at her.
She moved towards him, and an image of what their son, if it had been a son, flashed in her mind. "Please don't leave me." She whispered, reaching for his hand.
Klaus' face filled with pain, but it was a pain they both shared, so re reached for her hand, and followed her as she laid down on their bed, and scooted over, making room for him.
"Hold me tonight, Klaus." She whispered, weakly. "Hold me."
Klaus nodded, and pulled her into his arms, and held her as she began to sob once more into his chest, and as she cried, he cried too, for the child they would never know.
All because of William Forbes.
Now, I know this was emotion heavy, and I'm sorry, but there is a reason for this, and things needed to be explained.
I hope you approve, at least a little bit.
You should know, that I have never had the pleasure of having children, so I know nothing about childbirth or miscarriages, personally, though I know some women who have had both. For those who have had experienced childbirth, I hope I approached it remotely correct. For those who have experience miscarriages, I apologize for the pain this may have brought back.
Anyway, next chapter will be up soon!
Until Next Time...
