I will say this, I am a little iffy on this chapter, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

THANK YOU ALL FOR OUR SUPPORT ON THIS STORY! IT MEANS SO MUCH TO ME! :)

Please remember to review at the end! :)

(REMEMBER THIS IS A PRESENT CHAPTER! THE EVENTS TAKE PLACE AFTER CHAPTER 25!)

She couldn't believe it. She just couldn't.

It had to be a mistake. Didn't it?

Caroline shook her head as she sat in the doctor's office, holding the piece of paper in her hands that changed the course of her future.

"And this is accurate?" She whispered, staring at the paper.

Meredith smiled and nodded, as she leaned forward on the desk. "It is, Caroline." She replied, watching the disbelief cross the young woman's face. "I know it's a lot to take in, but this is wonderful news, Caroline."

Caroline nodded, and slowly closed her eyes. How was she going to tell Klaus? "Klaus," She whispered, inhaling deeply, as tears escaped from her eyes.

Meredith inhaled and exhaled in understanding. "Caroline, you did tell me that you and Klaus have been working on this for a little over a month, haven't you?" She asked, watching the young woman slowly nod.

"Yes, we have, but with the trial and the attempts on our lives…" Caroline began, trailing off, shaking her head. "How am I going to tell him?" She asked, shaking her head. "What am I supposed to do now?" She asked, lifting her head to look at the brunette.

Meredith stood up from her chair, and walked over to the blonde, and knelt down in front of her. "You take it one day at a time, Caroline, and as for telling Klaus, well, you could tell him before everything goes down or wait until everything is settled, either way, I don't think you can keep this a secret for too much longer." She replied, with a smile.

Caroline smiled, and bowed her head. "How far along?" She asked, lifting her eyes to the doctor.

Meredith smiled and grasped Caroline's hand in hers. "I would say about a month, maybe two, but I won't know for sure until we do a full examination." She replied, glancing down for a moment.

Caroline nodded, and smiled, tears beginning to fall down her face. "I don't know how to tell him." She whispered, shaking her head.

"You can just blurt it out." Meredith replied, smiling.

Caroline chuckled, and lifted her right hand to her nose. "I can just imagine that conversation." She replied, shaking her head. "As they drag him away, I can shout, 'I'm pregnant!'" She chuckled, throwing her head back.

Meredith chuckled, and shook her head. "I don't think that would be the best way." She replied, calmly with a small laugh.

Caroline sniffed, and sighed. "You're right. With everything going on, it's best to tell him in private." She replied, bowing her head.

"Yeah," Meredith whispered, squeezing Caroline's left hand. "I know this will put a small damper in the plans you have…" She began, but Caroline shook her head.

"We had actually considered this when we planned." She whispered, softly. "But, I never actually believed…" She trailed off, shaking her head.

Meredith smiled, and stood up. "Well, believe it, Caroline, because despite everything, you are going to be a mother." She paused, shaking her head. "Again." She added, watching Caroline smile brighter.

"There is no way you are going by yourself!" Katherine remarked as they all sat in the living room of the cottage.

Caroline rolled her eyes. "I've been going by myself for the past couple of weeks, and I've been perfectly fine." She replied, but the other three women shook their heads.

"Katherine is right, much as it pains me to say." Rebekah remarked, glancing at Katherine. "You can't go in your condition, not after what happened last time." She added, shaking her head.

Caroline sighed, and placed her hands on her stomach. She knew they were right, but still, she didn't have to like it. "I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself." She stated, but Bonnie stepped forward.

"Caroline, we know you are, but this isn't just about you." Bonnie remarked, glancing down at Caroline's stomach. "You are carrying our future niece or nephew, and after the last time," She paused, catching Caroline's eyes. "We want to be sure nothing happens." She added, glancing at the others.

"She's right, Caroline." Katherine remarked, standing up from her chair. "We just want to protect you. We wouldn't suggest this if we didn't care about you." She added, smiling.

Caroline sighed, and lowered her gaze in defeat. "Fine, but don't go overboard." She stated, as the others shook their heads.

"When are you going to tell Klaus?" Katherine asked, sitting back down.

Caroline sighed. "I'm meeting Finn at the courthouse to discuss the trial with Klaus, so I figured I could tell him then." She replied, sitting down next to Rebekah.

Rebekah smiled, and grasped her friend's hand. "He's going to be so excited." She replied, squeezing Caroline's hand. "I wish I could see his face when you tell him."

Caroline smiled, and bowed her head. "But first I have to tell Joey." She replied, lifting her gaze to the doorway where Joey was walking through.

"Tell me what?" He asked, coming to sit next to his mom. "That you're pregnant?" He asked, watching his mom's eyes widen. "I overheard your conversation." He replied, sheepishly.

Caroline shook her head, and closed her eyes. "Joseph Harley Mikaelson." She scolded, opening her eyes to find him smiling.

He shrugged his shoulders. "What can I say, I take after dad." He remarked, causing his mom to laugh. "Can I help with the name?" He asked, after a moment.

Caroline's eyes watered with tears, and she nodded her head. "Of course you can, sweetie." She whispered, taking her son in her arms, and smiled at the three women who were wiping tears from their eyes, secretly.

So far so good.

~Hours Later~

Klaus rubbed his third finger of his left hand, and smiled with the memory. The smile faded as he remembered the incident in the courtroom. He needed to know that she was alright. He needed to know.

He sighed, and leaned his head back against the wall, and closed his eyes as the door opened to his cell.

"You better be bringing me good news." He stated, in a grim tone.

"Well, how about, 'I love you'."

He straightened and quickly stood up from his cot, and smiled brightly as he saw her standing in front of the bars with his brother by her side. "Caroline," He whispered, quickly making his way to the bars, and grasped her hands on the bars. "Are you alright?" He asked, his eyes searching over her body.

Caroline smiled, and nodded, tears falling down her face. "I'm fine, Niklaus." She whispered, smiling.

He smiled in return, and glanced over at his brother. "Finn," He whispered, softly.

Finn nodded, and sighed. "The trial is set to continue tomorrow at noon." He replied, glancing at Caroline. "Although, I don't imagine it will be a long one, when they find out the truth." He replied, with a smile.

Caroline blushed, and bowed her head. Klaus smirked, and glanced at her. "So everything is set then?" He asked, watching his brother nod.

"Damon is making a few calls, but tomorrow we'll know the outcome, but if everything goes as I think it will, we'll be in the clear." Finn replied, with a nod.

Klaus nodded in understanding, and glanced at Caroline, who had her head bowed, and hadn't said a word for a while.

Finn recognized the look on his brother's face, and quietly stepped back, and motioned to the door. "I'll leave you two alone for a moment." He replied, opening the door, and quietly left them.

Caroline lifted the keys from her pocket, and quickly opened the door to the cell, and rushed into his arms. "Tomorrow." She whispered, holding him tightly.

Klaus sighed, and held her close. "It'll seem so long, love." He whispered, kissing her temple, before pulling back. "Are you alright?" He asked, looking down her body and then back up into her face.

Caroline smiled, and touched his cheek with her right hand. "I'm more than alright." She whispered, leaning forward and kissed him with so much love pouring out, he felt it down to his soul.

They slowly pulled apart, and he licked his lips, and hummed as his eyes opened to find hers filled with tears. "Love?"

She smiled, as his right hand brushed over her cheek, wiping away the fresh tears. "Klaus, there's something I want to tell you, but…" She whispered, bowing her head.

"Caroline, you know you can tell me anything." He whispered, after a moment. "We have no secrets, not anymore." He added, watching her smile.

Stroking his face, she lifted her eyes to his. "I'm pregnant." She whispered, searching his eyes.

Klaus' eyes widened slightly, and his mouth opened as he stared in her eyes, trying to find the truth in her words. "You're…" He choked out, finally lowering his gaze to her stomach.

She nodded, and lowered her head, placing her left hand on her stomach. "I am." She whispered, giving a small shout as he gathered her up into his arms, and twirled her around for a brief moment before setting her down, and kissing her until they could no longer breathe.

"Oh, love," He whispered, kissing her lips once more.

"I know." She whispered, kissing his cheek, and closing her eyes as he held her close.

He paused and pulled back, concern leaking into his eyes. "That means…"

She shook her head as she realized what he was getting at, and placed her right hand on his lips. "It just means we have to be extra careful. I talked to the girls, and they've agreed to help, so everything will be fine." She replied, nodding her head. "Rebekah even got Stefan to watch over me until this is over." She added, rolling her eyes.

Klaus smirked at the sound of his sister giving orders. "And then that's my job." He whispered, kissing her lips.

She shook her head, and giggled. "You all seem to forget that I'm a United States Marshall." She stated, clasping her hands behind his head. She shrugged as she remembered the other document she sent a few days ago.

He smirked, and kissed her lips, quickly. "Oh, we remember, love, but we don't want to risk this chance a second time." He whispered, watching her eyes cloud for a brief moment, before pulling her closer to him.

"I better go." She whispered, pulling back, and smiled faintly. "Katherine is waiting outside in the car." She replied, rolling her eyes.

He smirked, and stroked her face gently. "Be safe, love." He whispered, searching her eyes.

She smiled, and nodded. "You too." She whispered, tears filling her eyes. "I love you so much." She whispered, kissing his lips.

"As I love you." He whispered, returning her kiss before she pulled back, and left the cell, closing it behind her.

She paused at the door, and turned to give him one last look before she left him alone in the cell block, but with a new found hope filling his chest.

The plan had to work now. It had too. He had to protect his love, and their unborn child, and Joey. He had to.

Caroline walked through the courthouse, and froze when a familiar face came into view.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?"

She swallowed, and lifted her head higher, as she tried to move past him.

"A bit touchy, aren't we, Gorgeous?" He replied, grasping her upper arm.

Caroline lowered her eyes to his hand, and jerked her arm from his grasp. "Leave me alone, Enzo." She stated, glaring at him, as he smirked with his eyes glinting with a devilish gleam.

"Oh, now, is that a way to speak to your love?" He mocked, watching her scoff, and roll her eyes.

"You are many things, Enzo, but not my love." She stated, attempting to move away from him once more.

"Tsk, tsk," He whispered, grabbing her arm once again. "I forgot, you fell for the Hybrid." He mocked, causing her to jerk her arm once again. "Really, Caro, are you that desperate to actually fall for a criminal?" He asked, jerking his head to the side as the sound of palm hitting flesh rang through the hallway, when her hand contacted his cheek.

"Damn you." She stated, lifting her head higher, and managed to get free from his grasp.

"You first." He whispered, rubbing his hand against his jaw.

She shook her head, and quickly headed down the hall, leaving a smug Lorenzo behind.

"Actually, your boyfriend is going first, and then you, gorgeous." He whispered, as he watched her leave.

Caroline barely made it to the car an hour later, after stopping by Damon's office once more to make sure everything was ready, when her phone rang.

"Finn, I just left." She began, but stopped when the next words chilled her heart.

"There's been an attempt on Klaus' life."

"I'll be right there." She replied, robotically. She glanced at Katherine, who climbed out of the car. "Somebody made a run at Nik." She stated, turning on her heel, not having to explain further, as Katherine pulled out her cellphone and dialed a number.

"Elijah, something's happened." She stated, hurriedly. "I'm heading in now." She replied, quickly, following a blonde head, running back into the courthouse. "Yeah, I'll be careful, but I can't worry about me." She stated, running faster. "Caroline needs me, Elijah." She stated, as she listened to his words of concern. "Call you soon." She added, ending the call.

Please let him be alright. She prayed silently as she ran in the courthouse after Caroline. Please let him be alright.

Please be kind.

I know, leaving with a cliffhanger, but you have nothing to worry about. :)

I have planned out the rest of this story, and there are only nine chapters left to go, and I have decided that there will be a sequel! I even have part of the story line thought of, so yay!

Also, this week will be a little hectic for me, Fall semester is starting back this week, so I don't know when I'll find time to write, but I will do my best. As of right now, I'm planning on wrapping this story up this week, possibly next, depending on my schedule, so bear with me.

Coming Soon: Klaus has two proposals to make, and they will forever alter Caroline's life. Enzo's motive and work is revealed, as well as his and Caroline's past. Katherine and Elijah discover the truth about their son, but will it be good or bad?

For the Present: Will Klaus survive? And How did someone attack him, and who? What are the documents? What is the final plan?

Until Next Time...
