Present (Two months after previous chapter)
A dark SUV came to a halt in front of a small building, and the passenger door opened with a burly man stepping out to open the back door.
Klaus sighed as he stepped out of the back seat, reaching behind him to help his wife out. He looked around him, and grimaced as he took in the dark building in front them.
"This way, Mr. Mikaelson." The man remarked, leading the way towards the building.
Klaus held Caroline's hand as they followed him into the building, and into a small room with one small window. "Well, isn't this cozy." He muttered, glancing at Caroline.
She nodded, but didn't say a word. He frowned, and pulled her into his embrace, holding her like his life depended on it. Fear gripped his heart at the thought that he could have lost her just an hour before.
She closed her eyes, and wrapped her arms around his waist; holding on to him, wishing nothing would disturb them. Unfortunately, her wish was not granted, and the door opened, causing them to turn their head towards the door, but they didn't separate.
Caroline lifted her head, and smiled at the man who entered the room. "Ty," She replied, with a nod in his direction.
Tyler smiled as he nodded towards her, and nodded to Klaus. "So, this is your husband." He replied, approaching them, and held out his hand. "I'm Tyler Lockwood." He replied, waiting for Klaus to return the shake.
Klaus tightened his hold on Caroline before he returned the young man's shake. He nodded to the dark haired man, but didn't say a word.
"Tyler is my cousin." Caroline explained, smiling sweetly at her husband, and to Tyler. "His mother was my mother's sister." She finished, with a sweet tone.
Tyler nodded, and watched as Klaus loosened his hold. "I would have come sooner, but Alaric just received the papers two days ago, and you know how he is." He explained, rolling his eyes.
Caroline nodded, and smiled. "Did he agree with me?" She asked, ignoring Klaus' curious gaze.
"He did, after some convincing." Tyler answered, nodding. "Jeremy is outside with the others, with orders to get to the bottom of this." He replied, motioning to the door.
Caroline nodded. "So you brought them?" She asked, slowly separating from her husband.
Tyler nodded, and smiled as he took out a packet out of the bag hanging on his shoulder, and handed it to her. "This has everything you need." He replied, glancing at Klaus.
Caroline moved to the table, and opened the folder, and quickly took out the papers. She read over them, and felt someone stand behind her.
"What is this?" Klaus asked his brow furrowing.
Caroline bowed her head, and turned around, forgetting for a moment that her cousin was standing a few feet away. "Insurance." She stated, searching his eyes.
He narrowed his eyes, and she realized she needed to explain it more. "Ty, would you excuse us for a minute?" She asked, turning her head to look at her cousin.
Tyler nodded, and smiled. "I'll give you five." He replied, nodding to Klaus, before moving out of the room.
Klaus folded his arms over his chest, and stared at his wife, who sighed, before dropping the papers on the table.
"I took precautions to ensure the safety of this family, Klaus." She began, folding her arms over her chest, and looked at him.
"What kind of precautions?" He asked, firmly.
"The kind where we relocate to another state until the time comes to testify against my father." She replied, watching him carefully.
Klaus tilted his head to the side. "You made this decision without asking me." He stated, knowing what she did.
She nodded. "You wouldn't listen to me, so I did what I thought was best to protect you, the man I love." She stated, just as firm.
"I would have listened to you, Caroline." He remarked, watching her scoff at his words.
"You didn't, Klaus." She began, leaning forward. "You told me your plans, and expected me to go along with it. Sure you asked for my opinion, but you didn't listen when I gave it. You went right on ahead with your plan." She added, shrugging her shoulders.
Klaus' jaw clenched as he absorbed her words, and slowly he turned away from her. "How long have you been working on this?" He asked, with his back to her.
"Three months." She replied, causing him to turn around to face her. "I had no choice, Klaus." She defended. "My father has spies everywhere in the system, and no matter what you use against him, he will find a way to get to you and this family." She continued, stepping closer to him. "I wasn't going to stand by and let the man I love, and the father my children end up a worm on a hook." She nearly yelled.
He swallowed, and stepped closer to her, until they were a foot away from each other. "So instead you expect me to run." He stated, harshly.
"I expect you to stay alive." She retorted, shaking her head, fear and anger flashing in her eyes. "Klaus, we've been through too much for it to end." She added, dropping her arms to her sides, only to lift them to his still folded across his chest.
"I sent the information you had on my father to my superior, and he has granted us all amnesty." She continued after a moment. "He set us up with a new life until my father is brought to justice." She finished, nodding her head.
"What about the rest of the family?" He asked, after a moment.
"Tyler took care of it." She answered, motioning to the door. "Niklaus, please," She whispered, searching his eyes. "It's still your plan, just revised to where you won't remain in prison, but outside with your family." She paused, dropping her left hand to her stomach. "With us," She whispered, watching his eyes travel down to where her hand rested.
He inhaled deeply, and closed his eyes. "Caroline," He began, hating that she was right. He hated that she knew exactly what he needed and wanted. Hated and, yet loved it.
She smiled, knowing that she had won this round, and placed her left hand on his face, causing him to open his eyes. "If it was just you and me," She began, searching his eyes. "I wouldn't have thought or even considered this, but we have a family, Klaus." She added, tears filling her eyes. "We have Joey, and now a baby on the way." She whispered, shaking her head. "This isn't just us." She replied, strongly, tears spilling from her eyes, and now his. "It's about them too." She added, stroking his face.
Klaus inhaled deeply, and swallowed as the emotion built up in his throat. He wanted to speak, and tell her that this was still the best way, but he couldn't. He just couldn't get the words out of his mouth, and he knew why.
She was right.
She smiled through her tears, and nodded as she read his agreement in his eyes.
With a slow nod, he gave his consent. "Okay," He finally whispered. "Okay, we'll do this."
She kissed his lips, quickly, and pulled back. "Like you had a choice." She whispered, laughing through her tears as she watched his brows lift up.
He shook his head, and pulled her close to him. He placed his lips in her hair, and sighed as he held her close. "I married a conniving woman." He whispered, feeling and hearing her laugh in his ear.
"I married a stubborn man." She whispered in return, before pulling back. "I guess that makes us even." She added, shrugging her shoulders.
Klaus smirked, and leaned forward to kiss her lips. They both sighed as the kiss deepened, and Caroline melted into his arms, as her hands wove their way into his hair, and his hands caressed her back.
"You do realize there are other people in the room now." Tyler remarked with a smile on his face.
Caroline pulled away from Klaus, but remained in his arms, content for she didn't have to hide anything. Everyone knew the truth now.
Tyler walked over to the table, and sighed. "They want to go ahead and move you to your new home." He replied, glancing at Caroline and then to Klaus.
Caroline nodded, and sighed. "What about Joey?" She asked in a low tone.
Tyler nodded. "I contacted Katherine, and she's going to bring him to the meeting place." He replied, smiling.
Caroline nodded, and ignored the look on her husband's face. "Thanks, Ty." She remarked, smiling.
Tyler shrugged, and smiled. "What's family for?" He asked, shaking his head. He chuckled, as he stepped back, and headed towards the door. "I'll leave you two alone before we get ready to leave." He replied, placing his hand on the knob. "Oh, and Care," He began, turning to look at his cousin. "Tell Katherine that she still owes me one."
Caroline smiled, and nodded. "She's not going to like it." She admitted.
Tyler smirked, and shrugged his shoulders. "Who gives a shit?" He asked, watching her laugh, and shake her head. "Take care of my cousin, Klaus." He added to his new cousin in-law.
Klaus nodded, and smiled in return before Tyler left them alone. He turned to his wife, and smiled. "Now, where were we, love?" He asked, searching her eyes.
She smiled and leaned forward. "Right here." She whispered, closing the distance between them with a searing kiss.

Rebekah folded a few clothes, and placed them in her bag. She sighed as she straightened, and fiddled with the locket Stefan had given her for Christmas. She moved towards the window of her apartment, and gazed out the window. She always did love New Orleans, but for some reason she was happy to leave it behind.
She bowed her head, and closed her eyes. She would miss it, but not as much as she would her family. She heard the door open behind her, and she sighed. "I'm almost ready, Stefan." She replied, turning around, and her breath caught in her throat as she saw who had actually opened the door.
"Marcel." She whispered, her eyes widening.
Marcel smirked, and entered the room uninvited. "Going somewhere?" He asked, motioning to the suitcase on the bed.
Rebekah straightened her back, and lifted her chin high. "That's none of your damned business." She remarked, folding her arms over her chest.
He chuckled, and shook his head. "I think it is, when the woman, who I care very much for, is leaving town, as is her family." He returned, fingering the suitcase, before picking it up, and threw it across the room.
Rebekah stood firm as the suitcase crashed on the other side of the room, and narrowed her eyes. "I highly doubt it's any of your business what my family does, and as for caring for me, you should how much when you beat me." She stated, firmly.
Marcel's eyes flashed, and he shook his head. "Only because you forced my hand, Rebekah." He stated, pointing a finger at her. "Now," He replied, reaching forward, and grasped her arm, tightly, pulling her roughly against his body. "Tell me where your family is going." He added, roughly in her ear.
Rebekah struggled to break free of his grasp, but found it pointless. "I don't care what you do to me; I'll never tell you where we're going." She stated, struggling.
He chuckled, darkly, and bit her ear. "Oh, I think you will." He whispered, kissing her cheek.
She shivered with disgust, and continued to struggle against his embrace. "Let me go!"
"You heard her. Let her go."
Marcel straightened, and turned around, swinging Rebekah along with him. "Well, well, if it isn't the messenger boy." He replied, glaring at Stefan. "Come to rescue your lady love?" He asked, pulling out a large knife with his right hand, and held it to Rebekah's throat.
Stefan swallowed, hard, and anger boiled in his blood. "Let her go, Marcel, or else you won't leave out of here alive." He replied, darkly.
Marcel chuckled, and shook his head. "Oh, that's where your wrong, Stefan." He stated, lifting his head higher. "I plan on sticking around a little longer, maybe reclaim what was mine, and should be mine." He stated, holding Rebekah closer to him.
Stefan moved his eyes to Rebekah's. In her eyes, he saw the fear, love, and trust. It was enough to give him the motivation he needed. Softly nodding towards her, he waited.
Rebekah knew this had to be done, and she was more than willing to do it. With a quick movement, she elbowed Marcel in the stomach, causing him to double over, and loosen his hold on her. She stumbled onto the bed, and rolled over just in time to see Stefan leap into action.
Stefan took the chance he hoped for, and grabbed the knife in Marcel's hand. Marcel straightened, and glared at Stefan. Feeling undeterred, he turned on the ball of foot, and kicked Stefan in the stomach.
Stefan felt the breath leave his body for a second, and stumbled back. He straightened just in time to see Marcel charge at him, and he ducked the advance.
With a quick ball change of his feet, Stefan kicked Marcel in the abdomen, and watched Marcel stagger back.
He turned on his left foot, and slammed his right foot into Marcel's chest, causing Marcel to fall to the floor, knocking his head on the dresser with a loud crack, where he fell to the ground unconscious.
Rebekah sighed, and rushed toward Stefan. "Oh, my love." She whispered, as Stefan held her close.
"Are you alright?" He asked, stepping back to look at her.
She nodded, and smiled. "I am now." She replied, pulling his head down to hers, and kissed his lips, quickly.
He pulled back, and gazed down into her eyes. "Get your stuff. We got to leave now." He replied, glancing at Marcel's still form.
Rebekah nodded, and quickly grabbed her suitcase, not caring if her clothes were neatly folded, and stood up. Rushing to Stefan's side, she heard Marcel moan behind them, and shook her head. "Let's go." She replied, as they left the apartment, neither of them looking back.

Bonnie sat on the bed of her bedroom, and stared at the stick in her hands. It had been a hope of hers, but now…
Now that hope had been taken away with just a single line.
She wiped away the tears from her face, and quickly threw it away in the adjoining bathroom when she heard footsteps coming down the hall. She entered the bedroom, and smiled as Kol entered with two suitcases in his hands.
"We'll need to pack what we need, no more." He replied, setting them on the bed, and moved to kiss his wife on the cheek.
Bonnie nodded, and stepped back, preparing to pack up. She didn't hear Kol move into the bathroom, nor did she think about it. She heard him approach her, and she stilled when the same stick from moments before was shoved in her face.
"Bonnie?"
She held back the tears, and turned her head away. "You shouldn't have found that." She replied, moving to sit on the bed.
Kol watched her break down, and his heart tugged in his chest. "Oh, my Bonnie lass." He whispered, setting the stick on the dresser, and knelt down in front of her to pull her into his arms.
"I wanted so much to be pregnant." She cried, finally letting everything out, clinging to him.
He felt tears burn his eyes, but he didn't say a word.
"Oh, Kol," She cried, letting the tears fall.
Kol sighed, and pulled back, gently wiping the tears from her cheeks. "Bonnie," He whispered, not knowing what to say at the moment.
Bonnie seemed to understand, and she nodded. "Just hold me." She whispered, moving into his arms once again. "Hold me."
Kol sighed as he closed his eyes. He would hold her, and when they settled in the new town with the rest of the family, he would tell her they could try again, for at that moment he knew.
He wanted a family with her.

"Khristo, come on. We have to leave." Katherine called as she slung her bag over her shoulder.
"I'm here, mommy." Khristo called, running into the hallway, dragging a small bag behind him.
Katherine smiled at him, and bent down to grab his bag, as Elijah picked up their son. "Are you ready to go to your new home?" She asked, touching her son's face.
Khristo nodded his head, as he held on tighter to his dad. "With you and daddy." He stated, nodding his head once again.
She smiled and kissed her son's head before turning her head to Elijah. "Ready?" She asked, watching him nod.
He leaned forward and kissed her lips quickly.
"EW!"
They laughed at their son, who buried his face in Elijah's shoulder. "Let's go." Elijah remarked, opening the door, and together the family of three headed to the car out front.

Caroline gazed out the car window, and smiled at the passing scenery. She turned her head, and smiled as she found Joey dozing in the back seat, after hours of riding in the small SUV car the agency had procured for them. She lifted her gaze to Klaus, and smiled.
He smiled in return, and moved his right hand towards her to grasp her hand in his. He sighed, as he gazed at his family in the seat beside him, and in the rearview mirror. It had taken so much for him to accept that they had to move in order to protect the family that he treasured so much.
Instead of the Agency driving them, they were driving behind an Agency car, with the rest of the family behind him, followed by two more Agency cars. He hated to depend on others to protect his family, especially the cops, but it was what it was, and he couldn't change that. All he had to do was to accept it, and accept it he did.
She knew what was going through his mind, so she squeezed his hand in hers, letting him know that she understood, moving was always hard, especially when you had so much going for you in a city you practically grew up in.
Moving their eyes towards the front of the car, they passed a sign they had longed to see for a few hours.
Welcome to Alabama the Beautiful
Please be kind!
I want to thank you all once again! I can't say it enough!
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING: Alright, regarding the sequel, I'm going to wait a week before I publish it. The date is set for November 1! I'm saying this because there are a few other stories that need my attention, and I want to wrap a few of them up, or at least one more this week before I start another one!
But to give you a special treat, for being such dedicated readers here are a few lines from the sequel! ENJOY:
"Niklaus Mikaelson! Don't you dare turn your back on me!" Caroline shouted, placing her hands on her hips, giving him a hard glare as he turned around to face his furious wife.
"Can I kill him?" Katherine asked, pointing towards Klaus, who glared at her, causing Caroline to laugh.
Caroline swallowed hard as she gazed at the monitor. "Are you sure?" She asked, nervously, lifting her tear filled gaze to her husband. "Our baby..."
"Kol, keep that away from me!" Bonnie shouted, covering her mouth, as he continued to hold the small snake in his hands.
"Rebekah Mikaelson, will you marry me?"
"You promised they would be safe!" Damon shouted, pushing his brother backwards. "You bastard!"
"Caroline, hold on." Klaus whispered, panicking, as she cried out. "Please, love, hold on."
"Don't you dare close your eyes on me, Niklaus!" Caroline hollered, shaking him as he lay motionless on the ground. "Klaus, don't you dare, leave me!"
I hope you enjoyed that little glimpse into the sequel, although some of the story might have been given away. I tried! The title for the sequel is still up in the air, but I thought of Family Undercover. If you have suggestions, you may send them! Love to hear what you have to say on that!
Thanks again!
Until Next Time...
