Chapter 9

His fingers were freezing. Even though the day was warm for a spring day, the speed they were going made the air hitting them freeze him to the bone. He tried to curl his fingers inside his palms all the while keeping his grip on Kai. No wonder all the bikers wore leather or similar clothes. They would get hypothermia otherwise. At first he had been totally thrilled about the ride, the speed was incredible, especially since he had not been on a ride before. And he loved the fact he could hug Kai this long. But he was getting so cold. He hardly recalled what it was like to be warm. To get a bit of warmth and shelter, he pressed himself against Kai's back.

What felt like eternity, they turned off from the main road onto some smaller road, but he didn't manage to read the sings so he would know where they were. The road turned quickly onto a country road, and their speed slowed down. He heard Kai yell something, but he couldn't make out what it was. Apparently it was something about being there, since they turned to some yard with rough sand and a big house with a big terrace on the side. There were also few cars on the side of the yard and he could here quiet talking coming from the big house.

"Where are we?" he asked from Kai when he had pulled over and turned off the engine.

"We are here" was the answer he got. He rolled his eyes

"You do know that you are very cheeky? If I wouldn't know you better, I would take you for a simpleton."

"I didn't know the last part" Kai answered with a lifted eyebrow. "I thought being a simpleton would mean you gape at people when you first meet." He felt embarrassed, he knew very well that he had not given the best first image. Kai smirked and got off of the bike and held the bike up so he could get off too. The pose he had been had stiffened his legs, so his descend wasn't exactly smooth, and when Kai pressed the stand down for the bike, he stretched his legs and arms and blew to his fingers.

"That was cold" he muttered, trying to get his hands warm. Kai turned to him.

"Where is your gloves? Or even mines for that mattes"

"On my bag" he shrugged " I didn't know it would be that cold."

"You haven't been on one of these before?"

"Where would I? My father weren't interested in that sort of thing, and those are a bit too expensive for most of the people of my age" He wondered where Kai did get all of his money. He had a big apartment, cool bike, apparently endless funds to break his lighters and get knew ones, he thought as he watched Kai to dig a fag and a lighter out of his jacket pockets. After the first inhale Kai glanced at him from the corner of his eyes and shrugged.

"Good you have gloves. I don't have a spare. And I don't want to try driving without them. Especially since it looks like it might start raining again." Kai said and looked up to the sky while putting the fag back to his lips. He looked up too, and the sky did seem a bit gray, but there was no dark clouds anywhere.

"I hope it won't. It would be scary to ride so fast in a downpour"

"You think I would go that fast when it's slippery?" Kai snorted "I'm not suicidal you know"

He smiled brightly at Kai "That's good to know. Because I am not into that sort of things either" he could see Kai rolling his eyes even though they weren't aimed at him. He laughed a bit. Then asked "But seriously, where are we? What is this place?"

"You didn't see the signs?" Kai asked and turned to look at him curiously. He shrugged and shook his head

"I wasn't looking to that direction until we already started turning, and then it was too late, we were still going too fast."

"Hn" was all the reply he got. He stared at Kai for a moment who was just leisurely smoking and looking at the house.

"Fine" he said "I'll find out myself" he said and started heading to the front door of the house. He didn't hear Kai making any sound of following him, and for a moment he feared that Kai would just hop back onto the bike and ride off. Then he shook his head, it wasn't his style to be so mistrusting. When he got closer to the house, he noticed there was an ad board on the wall next to the door. He read the ads curiously. One told the opening hours of an "Old Town Caffee". And some told about a amateur theater show coming up and a bar telling it would have apparently a famous star performing in there. Albeit he had never heard of the name. He shrugged and peeked through the door window. He saw some tables and a counter. He figured this must be the cafe mentioned in the ad. He looked the opening hours again and seeing it was open, he reached for the handle and pulled the door open. There came a warm air wall out and he breathed deep. Oh, it felt so good. Without further ado, he stepped in and loved the warmth surrounding him. He rubbed his cold hands together again and sighed. When the warmth's strongest force had faded, he ventured towards the counter. He would love a cup of something hot. Anything hot would do. Even hot water. To wrap his hands around a warm mug, just the idea made him smile. There was no one behind the counter, so he had time to read the menu written on a chalkboard that hung on the wall behind the counter.

"Coffee, coffee with milk, coffee with sugar and cream, herbal tea, green tea, rose tea..." he read quietly under his breath. It said this was a coffee house. How come there is only few coffees and so many different teas? Shouldn't this be tea house instead? While he was thinking a shopkeeper had appeared behind the counter

"Good day sir. What would you prefer today?" the man said with a polite smile. He was taken aback by the formality. He was used to being talked like a peer, not like a count.

"Two Russian Earl Grey teas please" Kai said behind him. He looked over his shoulder to the guy.

"You been here before?" Kai just nodded but didn't say anything else. He sighed and turned to look at the list again. Yes, there it was, Russian Earl Grey. He hadn't even heard of such a thing. He heard a huff behind him, and turning around he saw that Kai was looking at him with raised eyebrow.

"You coming to sit or are you going to stand there for the rest of the day?". He took a step towards Kai, who took the cue and walked to a table that was as far as possible from the few other clients and the counter. They sat on the opposite sides of the table. He took the waiting time to look around the room. It was large, and there were wooden walls with supportive pillars. And stairs to upstairs.

"What's in the upstairs?" he had to ask.

"Bedrooms". Eyes widened he turned his eyed to look directly into the red eyes. They were amused and there was the smirk too.

"C-come again?" his mouth had run dry, and he needed to clear his throat to finish the sentence. The smirk widened to grin. He stared at Kai for a while, mouth ajar. Did Kai think...or want to...he swallowed. Not like it would be his first time, or not that he thought it would be bad, it was just a bit soon. They hadn't even been on that many dates. Only a few. One that was planned ahead. So one date. They had met few times more. The silence was interrupted when the shopkeeper or whatever brought their teas.

"Would you sirs want anything else?" the polite smile was still there. He definitely didn't look like the guy to keep a love motel place. And he had thought this was a proper place.

"You hungry?" he looked at Kai who was expectantly looking at him. Hungry?... oh right. Food.

"Maybe a bit" he said quietly. Kai nodded

"Two sandwiches thanks" the shopkeeper nodded and hurried away. Wonder how he would know what kind of sandwiches to make? Or maybe there was just a one type. Old school style. Probably they just didn't need customers to eat. Why would they need to have special food after having fun in the upstairs. His gaze lingered back to the stairs

"Fool. This also bed&breakfast place. The upstairs have rooms." he looked back to Kai, and seeing the happy glitter in the red orbs he couldn't help but smile back relieved.

"Oh. Good. I was already thinking". Kai snorted.

"I could see that. Good to know that the idea is that revolting to you"

"No, no" he quickly said "just a bit sudden. We haven't seen each others that much, and I mean, I don't even know if we are really together and well..." he trailed off. Kai was grinning widely, eyes burning.

"It's been a while. You are cute when you don't know what to say" he blushed. And to hide it, he took a hold of his teacup. It felt so good to his fingers. He lifted the cup to his face and breathed in. it smelled good, a tiny scent of lemon. He glanced Kai over the rim of the cup, and Kai was too drinking from his cup. He took a careful sip of the tea. He wasn't a huge fan of tea, but it did taste rather good. And the feeling was great when it went down his throat. He lowered the cup with a satisfied sigh.

"This is good". He received a nod from Kai.

"I know" Kai said. Kai looked out of the window and he looked at his profile. Thank gods his nose wasn't huge when looked on the side. To him, it was important that the nose would be good. Huge nostrils were a huge turn off for him.

Their sandwiches arrived and he smiled to the shopkeeper and thanked him. They were just normal bread slices with lettuce, some sort of meat, a bit of cheese, tomato and cucumber in between. Rather filling he soon discovered. But tasty. The bread had been grilled or similar and they were lovely crunchy and they had some sort of sauce or spiced butter spread on them so the taste was excellent. Surprising for a remote place like this.

"I'm surprised." he said after finishing his food and tea. "that was really good even though this is such a isolated place. Kai lifted a brow, he wasn't yet done.

"And I'm surprised you were that hungry. And this is rather popular place to some people. This is quiet, calming and has good standards."

"Oh, I see" he said nodding " that's why you have seemed so relaxed and cheery". Kai snorted.

"Why not being. The weather is good, I'¨m in a nice place, and I have good company" Kai smirked when stating that and he could barely keep the squeal of joy inside. So he smiled widely.

"I have good times too"

And then there was a flash, and soon after a loud cracking. He jumped on his seat, and he noticed Kai had tensed up immediately, glancing around. Then the downpour started, and they realized it was just a thunderstorm. They both leaned back to their chairs, and he let out a deep breath.

"Wow, that scared me". Kai just grunted a reply and took a sip of his tea. Thy sat for a while in quiet. Kai finishing his drink and he just sitting and listening the sound of rain hitting the roof.

"Looks like we will be stuck here for a while." Kai suddenly said. He looked at the guy, who was now looking out of the window. "It's raining pretty hard. I would rather not drive around with you on the ride too." he smiled. Kai cared about him so much. Kai looked at him from the corner of his eyes. "You being new at it, you would just do something stupid and cause us to trip over"

"Hey, no fair!" he complained, crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. He heard the dark chuckle he so liked.

"Want to have something more while we are waiting?" Kai asked. He shrugged

"I can buy something myself if I need".

"Sure. But you have realized that I am not short with money, haven't you?". He didn't care that much about money, so the topic got him to squirm a bit.

"I have. But that has nothing to do with the fact that I like you. And I don't want you to pay for everything". Kai smirked

"That's why I ask for your lighter. You get to help me in need." it sounded really sweet coming from him. Kai didn't seem like the type to easily ask help for others. He reached out a hand, sneaked it into Kai's hair, and pulled his head closer while himself leaning over the table to kiss those lips he loved so much. And without worrying about audience, Kai just kissed him back, deeply and without any rush. It was long, wonderful and dizzying kiss.
