"Usagi-chan! What are you doing here?"
Usagi beamed at Grandpa and stepped around a pile of leaves. "Since Rei-chan's out of town, I thought her manga might be lonely!"
Grandpa gave an infectious belly laugh and Usagi joined in. "Sure, help yourself." He winked. "What Rei doesn't know won't hurt her, right?"
When she glanced back, she noticed Grandpa's grin had faded. He bent to his task with slow, pained movements, which he tried to hide when Usagi returned.
"The manga's not so lonely," Usagi said, grabbing a second broom and joining him. "Besides, I'd rather hear Rei-chan's baby stories."
