Hi you all! sorry about the long wait, but I had huge troubles trying to make this work. there was this scene in my head that wanted to come out, but it wouldn't have fitted here at all, so I had to run it out first. that said, I am not sure how well this went, because it did a slight comeback anyway. but at least it was much less dramatic than it wanted to be. I think I like the end. so, as promised, this is the last chapter. I hope you like it :)

Chapter 15

He sighed. Brian was rather heavy. And my rather, he meant really. He and Rei were trudging along, carrying Brian between them just like he would be just drunk and they were carrying him home. He hadn't let Kai be part of the dragging/carrying because of the bleeding hand. He had no idea how bad it was because it was so bloody. Once they were done with Brian he would definitely wash it and have a proper look at it.

They were heading to Kai's home because Kai had a car. So did Brian but Rei had no idea where the keys were and after a search they discovered they weren't with Brian either. So Kai was the only option. Not that they could carry Brian to a rehab clinic like this. The nearest was behind the suburb anyway. Kai seemed to know where it was. He wasn't surprised about it but Rei had seemed baffled that Kai had such vast knowledge.
But he was surprised that Kai had a car too. He had a motorcycle and a car? He wondered how much Kai made in a month. A lot probably. The apartment had been roomy and nice too. He glanced at Kai who kept looking at them, clearly expecting something to go wrong and ready to jump in to help. He gave the red eyed guy a tired smile

"Don't worry. It will work out"

Kai snorted and lifted one eyebrow.

"Sure. But in what time?"

he frowned and shook his head

"You really should work on your pessimism"

Kai grinned him a bit

"Nah, I'll skip. I think I am good enough in it"

Rei laughed a bit

"You two sound like an old married couple"

he blushed fiercely

"Don't tease Rei!"

REI laughed again and he couldn't stop his smile. If it wasn't Brian literally between them, things felt right and good again. It felt good to have forgiven Rei and to have an old friend by his side again.

After a walking what felt like an hour they reached Kai's home and more importantly his car. Kai dug out the keys and unlocked the doors. Rei whistled

"Nice car" the Chinese said appraising. Kai just shrugged it off.

"You can put him on the back seat."

he frowned

"How do we do that?" he asked. Rei was about to say something when Kai just couldn't held it in

"Shoving"

he gave Kai a dark look but the red eyed just chuckled amused. With serious efforts he and Rei managed to get Brian into the car in rather good position. He slammed the door shut.

"What now?" he asked, looking between Kai and Rei. Rei looked at Kai too. Apparently Kai was the brains of this little group. In a fleeting thought he wondered why he relied on Kai so much. What was it in Kai that just made it so easy to trust him when being face to face?

Kai looked between them too and then rolled his eyes

"We drive him to the clinic. What else?" Kai sounded a little exasperated. Like he would have expected a little more of them. He nodded

"Okay. Rei" he asked and looked at the black haired guy "you coming too?"

Rei nodded sharply

"Of course. I won't dump him now"

he shook his head

"Your dedication is admirable"

he heard Kai snort and glanced at the red eyed guy who was smirking a little

"At least he doesn't doubt his boyfriend in every turn"

he was a bit hurt by that, but also embarrassed and shamed. He felt his cheeks turn pink and he shot a glare at Kai

"I thought we talked it through already."

Kai shrugged and turned sideways.

"I drive" Kai stated and slid into the drivers seat. He glanced at Rei who shrugged and shook his head. With a sigh they rounded the car, he going to the front seat and Rei joining Brian in the backseat.

Brian woke up on the way but was disoriented and Rei managed to keep his focus on himself so the ride went smoothly.

Kai pulled into a parking slot opened his safety belt and turned to look at the back

"We are here"

Brian flared up seeing Kai and shot his hands forward, getting a secure grip of Kai's throat. For a moment his is frozen, only staring how Brian chokes Kai, teeth bared and Rei tries desperately to pull Brian away. Kai brings his hands up, trying to lever the hands away. When the red eyes start going bloodshot he reaches forward, pulling the switch that releases Kai's seat. Noticing this Kai, gasping for air pushes the seat back as hard and fast as he can, slamming it onto Brian. The impact is strong enough that Brian's clutch slips and he and Rei manage to pull Kai free. Kai still struggles to breath and he pushes his door open and with adrenaline boost pull Kai out of the car over his seat. Kai tries to help too, but he can tell that the lack of oxygen is affecting the red eyed guy. The red eyes turns to his eyes while Kai struggles to stand up. He holds Kai up and Kai rasped

"Get help"

eyes wide he stares into the red orbs and Kai nods towards the building behind him "GO" the voice isn't loud and the voice is cracking, but he nods, hurriedly glancing how Rei is doing, struggling with Brian in the backseat and runs off to the house.

Inside he rushes to the desk

"Help!" he bellows. The person behind a desk looks up from computer

"What's the matter?" the woman asks calmly. He shakes his head and sputters out

"Hurry, he tried to choke Kai and I don't know what he will do to Rei!"

the woman shook his head

"Calm down"

he shook his head

"I can't! They are in trouble!"

the woman gives up trying to get him calm down

"Who are? And where?"

he points to the parking lot

"In the car! Brian is all crazed and is fighting with everyone!"

the woman's face went stern

"I'll call help" she said and picked up a phone and talked into it. He nodded and was about to rush out when the woman stands up, the phone still on her ear "Wait!" he turns to look at the woman, torn, not wanting to waste more time when he should be out making sure that Kai was safe. "Don't get yourself in trouble. Stay in the safe distance"

relieved that he wasn't told to stay here, he smiles a little and nodes before dashing out. Back outside he looks what is going on. Kai is sitting on the car, leaning on the car tier, hand on his throat. He can't imagine how much it must hurt to drive Kai that out of strength. The back door was open too and he could hear Rei's voice. He didn't make out the words but the tone was trying to be calming with a terrified undertone. He carefully went closer and to Kai. He knelt beside Kai

"Help is coming" he whispered. Kai looked up at him, breathing shallowly but nevertheless giving him a small grin

"Well done" Kai whispered. He heard steps coming closer and two men in similar green clothing came closer. He helped Kai up and Kai leaned in him heavily.

"He is the troublemaker?" the darker man said. The other was circling to the side and peeked into the car. He shook his head and the other man said

"No, it's here." the man looked at the darker one "on the other side, back seat." the man nodded and went to the other side of the car. He walked further away and with Kai stared how the man tried to reason with Brian and how Rei was first dug out of the car and the Chinese guy came to their side, hands clenched together, worry etched all over his face. It was obvious to him that despite the maltreatment Brian had give to Rei, the guy was still head over heals to Brian. Realizing it he looked at Kai and gave him a little squeeze with his hand that was around Kai's waste to help keep the guy up. Kai looked at him and seeing his stare Kai smiled and gave him a butterfly kiss to the corner of his mouth

"Thanks" Kai muttered. He shook his head and with his free hand wiped the loose hair from Kai's face.

"No need for that. You have already helped a much more"

Kai just gave a little huff but didn't comment further. Despite the situation it felt good to have Kai on his side this close and even better was that now he knew that he was able to help Kai too. He was in no way inferior to Kai. He wasn't the only one being helped. And for now one he wouldn't have to worry about being a burden and just being on the receiving end. Life felt good.

In odd serenity he watched how the two man managed to get Brian out and started to drag him to the building. Rei tried to go to Brian but one of the men told him to keep away until the situation was under secure control.

They followed the slightly staggering party in to the hall where he had met the woman. The woman was still there, now holding a door open.

"Doctor Boris is waiting in room there" Brian's carrying group nodded to the woman and dragged Brian through the door and before they could follow the woman had closed it and smiled at them softly.

"He will be taken care of now. In the meanwhile, how about you tell me who he is, who you are and what has happened?" even though the smile was warm and tone comforting, it gave no reason to think that they could not answer the questions. They were pointed a chairs. He helped Kai down and the woman looked closer to Kai.

"My, you are hurt. You want me to get you a doctor or something?"

Kai looked at the woman and carefully shook his head.

"Water would be great" he said barely above a whisper. The woman nodded and straightened up.

"Of course. Just a moment" the woman walked to her desk and pulled out plastic cups "You two want some too?"

he shook his head and Rei barely registered it

"What are they doing to Brian?"

the woman withheld the answer until she had brought the water and sat onto another chair with some papers with her.

"They are giving him some tranquilizer to calm him down. Then they will do him a proper check up so they know if he is badly injured" She clicked her pen and while Kai sipped his water, mostly he and Rei answered to all the questions. After half an hour the woman smiled at them again.

"You did well. It's a hard thing to bring a close person to treatment even though it could save their life. You should be proud of yourself" then she turned her smile solely on Rei "And you can be very grateful that you have such helpful and good friends"

Rei nodded at her and smiled at them

"Yeah, I know"

he answered the smile and Kai just swatted his hand to brush it off. Then a man walked out of the door behind which Brian had been taken.

"You can go see him now if you want to" Rei immediately stood up and beamed. The man raised his hand to calm Rei down "He is disoriented and probably totally out of it. Don't expect him to react properly or behave well"

Rei just nodded

"I know" the Chinese guy said quietly. The man gave him an encouraging squeeze to the shoulder

"Try not to worry. In here, he should get better. At least if we can make him want it" the man winked "And won't we do that"

Rei smiled for real and nodded with tears in the amber eyes

"Yes. We will"

the man let go of Rei and the boy went through the door.

"Can we go home now?" Kai asked, voice already stronger than before.

"Yes" the woman said. Kai looked at him

"Maybe we should wait Rei?" he asked unsure. He stood up. "I'll go ask him" the man told him that it would be better if Rei wouldn't stay here, but that he could come back tomorrow. Brian needed to do this himself, but support would do good. He nodded in understatement and went to talk to Rei. After few minutes he came back with Rei. The Chinese guy didn't look too happy, but he was at least hopeful.

Kai got up too and together they walked out of the building. They drove Rei to his home and agreed to take him to the facility the next day. They watched Rei get in and then he turned to look at Kai

"You should get rest. I can walk home from your place"

Kai opened his mouth to say something, but then just closed it and joined the traffic again.

When Kai had parked the car in his spot they climbed out of the car. Kai walked to the sidewalk and next to him. To his surprise Kai was avoiding his gaze a bit

"What's the matter?" he asked, all worried again. Kai tried to clear his throat but winced in pain. Kai lifted a hand to his bruised throat and finally met his eyes.

"Would you mind coming over?" there was a small insecure glint in the red orbs "And you could stay the night too"

he was totally blown away with that offer. His jaw dropped and he couldn't think of what to say. His mind was blank.

"Wow." he finally muttered. Kai looked away from his eyes again but with a determined set of face continued to whisper

"You don't have to if you don't want to and it makes you uncomfortable. But with everything that happened today..." Kai lost the track of what he wanted to say and silence fell. He was already smiling. It was no trouble to him to stay with Kai longer. He wasn't ready to do everything with Kai, but he wouldn't mind some cuddling and closeness. The day had been rather terrifying when he thought about it. Kai being Kai he got over his issue, looked back into his eyes and continued. "I fear I'll have nightmares. And if I do, I won't sleep for the rest of the night. so.." Kai drew in a breath "I would like it if you would be there. I know it would calm me down and maybe I could even sleep"

never had he felt so happy and warm. He smiled brightly and jumped at Kai, bringing him in to a tight hug, minding though that Kai had slight troubles with breathing.

"off course I can help" he said giddily. He was so happy it was flowing out. he gave Kai a big wet smack on the cheek and pulled away, beaming to Kai "I'm glad I can help you too in need. That balances our relationship when I can give something to you too"

Kai smirked

"You give me plenty of lighters"

He laughed

"I love you Kai"

the red orbs widened in the most cute and lovely way. There were sparks flying in them now. Kai's expression went softer and more open he had ever seen it. Kai leaned closer and gave him a soft kiss on the lips. Then Kai leaned their foreheads together and with their breathing mingled.

"Well" Kai said and the red orbs looked into his eyes. The moment was breathtaking. So intense he forgot how to think or move, he just savored this moment.

"I love you too" Kai whispered.

nah, I don't think it matters why Kai looked Connor up. you can come up with whatever theory you want to ;) I hope you liked, and I would love to hear your final opinion about this chapter and the whole story. I tried my best with it and I hope all of you who have red this have had some fun with this.
well. maybe we will see again in some other story. maybe I will one day start a new fic. no one never knows.
