"Fuck. This. Heat!" Rosa exclaimed loudly.
She was sat outside on Vaas' lap and the sun was starting to go down but it wasn't helping. The air was still hot and humid, making everyone irritable.
"Jane and Raul have been gone for fucking ages." Rosa commented, running her hands through Vaas' mohawk.
"Let them fuck it out if they wanna. I know we will later." he replied, resting his hand casually on her leg.
"You need a hair cut. Well, a hair shave. I'll do it for you tomorrow and clean up your badass beard." she stated, not really paying attention to her husbands lewd remarks.
"I think we need some music." she announced, before getting to her feet and wandering over to the radio.
She flicked it on and fiddled with the dials, trying to find a good station.
"You usually don't get many considering we're in the middle of fucking nowhere." Vaas chuckled, rubbing his chin.
A loud groan of obvious pleasure echoed through the compound and Rosa shot Vaas a look, making them both laugh. She stopped tuning the radio when she came across a station that was working. A ukulele tune wafted out from the speakers, which seemed to immediately lift the spirits of everyone around. The presenter spoke in Spanish.
"Y ahora jugando, Riptide por Vance Joy!" And now playing, Riptide by Vance Joy!
"I like this one." Rosa said, moving slowly to the music.
All of the pirates were either tapping their feet or bopping their head in time to the music. Rosa smiled wide at their reactions before jumping onto the dance floor and hitting her feet against the wood, producing a clicking sound.
"What are you doing?" Vaas asked, smirking.
"Make the best out of a bad situation. Hit the barrel." she instructed, continuing tapping her feet providing an extra beat.
A pirate jumped in and started hitting out another tune in time with the music; Rosa laughed loudly. Others started getting involved and soon everyone was surrounding the dance floor, getting in on it. Even Vaas was producing a drum beat on the sofa.
"I love you when you sing me that song and I got a lump in my throat cause you're gonna sing the words wrong."
Rosa sang with the tune, her voice filling the compound with beautifully clear notes and all the pirates stopped.
"What?" she asked.
"Sing some more!" one shouted out which was met by a collective mumble of agreement.
"Okay ..." Rosa replied.
"You're good, hermana, sing some more." Vaas encouraged, grinning at his wife.
The song grew a little quieter and the singer had lowered his tone, as did Rosa.
"Lady, running down to the riptide taking a way to the dark side, I wanna be your left hand man ..."
The pirates were captivated. Raul and Jane came out of a nearby shack, hot, sweating and smiling, only to see the band of pirates surrounding the dance floor. They rushed forward to see what the commotion was about, only finding Rosa singing in the centre and all of the pirates becoming their own little band.
The pair looked at each other in confusion but shrugged before finding something they could tap on. The song was coming to an end and as it did, all of the pirates, including Vaas, groaned.
"Don't worry boys, I'm sure another song will come on in a minute." Rosa reasoned.
All of the pirates started applauding her. Vaas leapt to his feet to kiss her, taking her a back.
"You sure can sing, princesa. How long you been hiding that from me?" he whispered seductively.
"I sing all the time, you just ignore me!" she replied, pushing him in the shoulder.
Vaas shrugged his shoulders and smirked.
"Don't you just love days like this?" Rosa said, squinting as she looked up at Vaas.
"They're better than most. All I need now is to kill one of the hostages and this day is complete."
Rosa properly looked at Vaas. His scar was more defined in the sun light and his caramel skin looked beautiful. His eyes were sparkling, the same colour as the ring that she wore on her finger; the remenants of his necklace. She never knew where the necklace had came from so made a mental note to ask him.
"You are tall, aren't you Vaas?" Rosa observed.
He looked down at his wife, who was only around 5"5 without her heels and showed his pearly whites; another mystery to Rosa how he was in the middle of nowhere with perfect teeth.
"It's the Spanish blood, chica, we're bred to be big."
Rosa raised her eyebrows and Vaas chuckled.
"Filthy, filthy mind, princesa." he replied.
The change in atmosphere that had occurred with the simple act of putting some music on was awe inspiring; Rosa had loved every second of it.
"What now?" Vaas asked, the pirates still gathered in a circle.
"I have an idea!" Rosa shrieked as it hit her.
She grabbed the radio dial and turned it up to the highest volume.
"Here." a pirate said, handing he a long cable.
"What's this?" she asked.
"Plug it in the side, its surround sound." he explained.
Rosa obliged, changing the station.
"Wanna play hide and seek?" she asked, grinning widely.
"Yes!" a pirate called out, making them all laugh.
"How about it Vaas?" she asked, looking over to her fearsome pirate lord.
He pulled his face and Rosa sighed loudly.
"Come on, Vaasy." she pleaded, pouting.
"Alright, alright! But it's gotta be hide and seek tag; you know I love the chase, hermana." he replied, before turning around and walking into a shack.
"Raul, you and you are with me. We're gonna count to 100." he said, wandering away and pointing at two other guys.
He ushered them into the shack before turning to Rosa and blowing her a kiss.
"I always find you, Rosa." he said, rolling the 'R'.
It sent shivers down her spine but she smiled.
"Right you fuckers, go!" she shouted, flicking the radio to on.
'Pumped Up Kicks' by Foster The People was playing, filling the compound with fun. Rosa started to run around as were the other pirates, desperate to find a hiding space. She ran straight into Jane and the pair laughed.
"Been having fun, Jane?" she asked, giggling.
"Of course, Rosa, the best kind of fun that involves two people. You've probably never done it before." Jane said, smirking.
"Haha, very funny. Just make sure that you kids use protection." Rosa said, before rushing off again, laughing loudly.
She could hear Vaas counting loudly over the music and Raul letting him to shut up. Rosa spotted a small space in between a warehouse, deciding to hide there, just as Vaas had finished counting. He shot his gun in the air.
"READY OR NOT, HERE I FUCKING COME! YOU BETTER OUTRUN MY FUCKING GUN, HERMANOS!" he shouted, earning a stifled laugh from Rosa.
The footsteps sounded hard on the floor as the seekers rushed around.
"FUCK MAN, HOW DID YOU GET US SO QUICK?" a pirate shouted.
"MAYBE IF 6 OF YOU COCKSUCKERS DIDN'T HIDE TOGETHER." Vaas shot back.
There was a scuffling before Rosa remembered that it was hide and seek tag, but there were still a few of them to find. Rosa clamped a hand over her mouth to stop her from laughing.
"ROSA, WHERE ARE YOU?" Vaas called, his footsteps thwacking on the floor.
"I'M GONNA LOOK FOR JANE!" Raul shouted.
The other pirates were running around after each other, yelling loudly. Vaas' footsteps grew more menacing and Rosa sensed he was coming. She ran from her hiding place, shrieking.
"FOUND YOU, CHICA!" Vaas said, spotting her.
She squealed with delight as Vaas chased her. Turning a corner, Rosa found herself at a dead end, surrounded by the back of a warehouse and blocked by a concrete wall and a chain linked fence. Vaas appeared around the corner, wearing his signature smirk.
"I told you that I always find you, princesa." he said song started on the radio as the presenter called out again.
"Espero que hayan disfrutado algunos retrocesos Pumped Up pero ahora tenemos Clarity por Zedd! Enjoy!" "Hope you enjoyed some Pumped Up Kicks but now we have Clarity by Zedd! Enjoy!"
A singer began to fill her voice in the compound; Rosa bit her lip and looked at him. He ran towards her and pushed her body against the fence.
"I. Always. Find. You." he whispered, his breath hot and sensual on her neck.
Rosa wrapped her hands around his neck before he kissed her, pushing her up further. He pressed his hand into her thigh, pushing up her skirt. She ran her hands through his mohawk as he kissed her all over, earning a moan from the girl. She tugged at the bottom of his tank desperately.
"HEY, YOU GUYS, WHERE ARE YOU?" Raul shouted.
"We better get back to the game." Rosa breathed, moving away from Vaas' lips.
"Fuck the game." Vaas groaned, resting his head against Rosa's.
"I was hoping that you'd say that." Rosa replied, kissing him again, hard and passionate.
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy? If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?
Rosa couldn't help think that the song was perfect for the pair as she smiled against his lips. She wrapped her legs around his waist and ripped of his tank top, clawing at him. She dropped it to the floor, feeling his abs.
"Calm now, chica." Vaas said, chuckling.
"Fuck being calm, I need you." she breathed, lifting her hands for him to remove her top.
He ran his hands roughly up her stomach, pressing into her skin. She loved the way he made her feel, like his touch would be forever etched on her soul. Rosa kissed him with a new passion, one that represented everything about them. He began to kiss her neck, sucking and nipping and she groaned, grabbing at his back, her ring glinting in the lowering sunlight.
"You and your nails, hermana." Vaas said.
"I want them to know that you're mine."
"I'm always yours." he breathed, looking up at the girl and smirking.
Rosa could hear a few of the pirates singing along with the love song and grinned at the oddness of it all. Pussies, she thought. Vaas grabbed her face in his hands and kissed her again, biting her lips as she tightened around his waist.
"Hey guys, we're all waiting for you ..." Raul said, turning the corner.
"Oops, sorry!" Jane exclaimed as they caught the pair.
Rosa sighed, looking over Vaas' shoulder but she smiled.
"We're coming now." she stated, her legs still around the pirate lord.
Vaas clenched his hand into a fist and punched the fence.
"Yeah, we're coming." he said through gritted teeth.
"Nah, you're not Vaas. We interrupted that didn't we?" Raul said, making himself and Jane laugh.
Vaas scowled as Raul and Jane walked off, leaving the pair to get themselves sorted.
"Later." Rosa said, rubbing her nose against Vaas'.
"Later." he replied, grabbing her hands in his and pressing them against the fence.
He intertwined his fingers with hers and smiled wide.
"I do love you, princesa, more than the moon loves the stars."
"I know, Vaasy. I love you more than you love killing people."
"Not sure about that one, hermana, you know how much I love to end a fuckers life." Vaas replied.
"That's just the definition of insanity, no?" she said, doing her impression of him. Vaas spluttered, shaking his head.
"You're fucking mad, princesa."
"All the best people are." she whispered in his ear before kissing him on the cheek.
She jumped down from his waist and picked up both of their tanks, pulling hers over her head. Vaas put his on, and Rosa held her hand out to him.
"Let's go." she said as Vaas took her hand.
The pair walked out into the compound; Rosa looked around and really appreciated everything that she had.
She saw the large group of men that lived to serve her and Vaas.
She saw Jane and Raul, the two true friends that they had and that they could always rely on.
She saw Doctor Earnhardt, the man that had been a crazy constant throughout her life and who was always there if she needed him.
Rosa also saw the huge rose that Vaas had painted for her with his words underneath.
It was all beautiful.
She had stopped walking and Vaas looked back at her.
"What is it, chica?"
"I just never want to forget this moment. It's perfect. I love our life." she said, taking it all in.
"I love our life too." he replied.
They continued walking on before taking a seat in the middle of the pirate group.
Everything was good.
