Chapter 69 - The Sun's Fire

*TRIGGER WARNING*

Rosa was awake a little earlier than normal, but this didn't bother her; it was past midday anyway. The previous day had been perfect and everything was good.

Swinging her legs off the bed, she got to her feet and quickly got dressed. Walking over to the mirror, she applied her makeup, taking extra care to wing her eyeliner especially well.

"My belle princesa." Vaas said, leaning in the doorway.
Rosa turned around and smiled at him, flashing her pearly whites. For people that lived on an island without any dental care to hand except from Doctor Earnhardt, their teeth were in perfect condition.

"My Vaasy bear." she replied.
She walked over to him, planting a kiss on his cheek when she stopped in front of him. She giggled as she wiped away the red stain on his skin. Vaas grabbed her hand and kissed it before replacing it back on his cheek.

"Hoyt's calling again for you, hermana." he whispered, closing his eyes with his wife's hand still on his face.
"What does that fucker want now? He only spoke to me yesterday!"
"Shh." Vaas soothed, taking in the moment between the two.

Rosa sighed and closed the gap between them, taking her hand back and wrapping her arms around his waist. He rested his chin on top of her head, rocking her slightly.

"Te amo." she mumbled, breathing in his scent of cigars, weed and death.
"Te amo." he replied, straightening himself up.
She grinned at him before moving aside.

"Hoyt awaits you, my queen."

Rosa entered the dark communications shack, the door slamming ominously behind her. A small light hung above the table, swaying listlessly side to side. The phone was flashing wildly on the table, so she went over to it, answering the call.

"Mornin'" she said, yawning a little. Hoyt chuckled.
"Morning? Have you seen the time?!"
"What do you want Hoyt, you rang yesterday." she replied, looking at her nails.
"Just to let you know that I am sending a few men over to you. Well trained men. Break them for me, you know they work better that way."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Vaas can speak to them and sort them. Anything else, Father?" she replied, rubbing her free hand on her skirt.
"That's it really. I just thought that you should know."
"Okay, Hoyt, I'll ring you soon, okay?" Rosa replied, ready to end the call.

"And Rosa? Be careful, the sun's up high today and that means that something shit will probably happen. Just have your wits about you, yeah?" Hoyt said tentatively. Rosa rolled her eyes but cleared her throat.
"You and your island superstitions."
"I've been around here longer, my English Rose, I know things." he laughed, coughing as he did so.
Rosa frowned but decided not to press it.

"Bye Dad, I love you."
"Love you too, my English Rose."

Rosa put down the phone and pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't Hoyt's bitch daughter." a voice came, sending shock waves through the girl.
She immediately reached for her knife but realised that she didn't have her holster on her, so she was un-armed.

"Who goes there?" she asked, her voice quieter than normal yet still authoritative.
A deep chuckle echoed through the shack as she heard the door lock.

All of a sudden, a figure rushed towards her, pushing her down onto the table. The man had the same skin colour as Vaas and was missing two fingers. He gripped Rosa's face in his hands as one was pressed down on her leg.

"Sh, sh, sh. Nobody can hear you, Rosa. It's just you and me." he smirked, eyeing her up and down.
"Who are you?" she asked, her voice wavering.
"I'm Igita. But you can call me handsome." he growled, licking his lips.
"Get the fuck off of me." she snapped, her voice seething venom.

She tried to throw the man off her but he was too strong. He moved his hand from her face and down to her own hands, taking them in his own and lifting them above her head.
"What do you want from me?" she asked, praying that someone would try and get into the shack. Nobody was coming.
"I want you. Vaas always gets you for himself and now it's time that someone else got a share." he snarled, moving his mouth to her neck.

"Please, don't. I wouldn't if I was you." she murmured.
"I will just kill you in your sleep if you tell anyone." he replied.
"Not if I get there first."

Igita took his other hand and grabbed her throat.
"Or I could just snap your neck right now. I like my girls still fresh." he said, snapping her teeth at her.
She shuddered but knew that if she screamed, she would die. It was hopeless.
"Now, let's see ..."

Igita moved his hand down her neck and rested it above her chest. His other hand still had her arms suspended above her head as he pushed her deeper onto the table, unable to move. He went from her neck and down to her waist, moving his hand to her thigh.

He smirked sickeningly as Rosa prayed that someone would walk in ...

"Rosa? Princesa, where are you?" Vaas called out.

He hadn't seen his wife since she had gone into the communications shack to speak with Hoyt on the phone. The sun was still high in the sky and beating down on the island like it normally did. Vaas walked around, into the shack and out again, calling her.

"Fucking hell." he grumbled.
Jane and Raul were in a room to themselves so Vaas was by himself with the search. He decided to look a little more precise and began wandering to the inconspicuous places where she could be hiding. She loved for him to chase her. Yet he still could not find her.

He was panicking a little inside but didn't show it, standing aloof and proud. He slowed down, stopping in between a small gap of two warehouses. Then, he heard a small cry and his senses were on alert.

"Hermana, is that you?" he asked before walking down the small gap and coming out in a blocked off area, away from everyone else.

And there he saw his wife, curled up into the corner with her knees to her chest, crying. He immediately rushed towards her.

"Rosa! Rosa, hermana, what's happened?" he said, his voice full of worry.
Rosa lifted her head slightly and looked at him. He sat down next to her and wrapped his big arm over her shoulders and pulled her close to him.
"Rosa, please, what's happened? Is it Hoyt?"

A million things flashed through Vaas' mind as he tried to concentrate on his wife.

"No." she squeaked out, tears still silently falling.
"Then what is it?"
Rosa swallowed her tears down and tried to catch her breath. Her voice was raspy and cracked.

"I-I was in the shack ... A guy came in and ...he got me down on the table ...he was too strong, Vaas ... he kissed me and touched me ... I couldn't do anything." she croaked, collapsing when she was done.

Vaas sat there stunned. How dare someone do that to his wife?! Nobody touched what was his, especially not Rosa. Nobody ever dared go near her so who was the fucker thinking that they called the shots? Who had made his woman weak? Vaas felt the venom course through him as he got to his feet.

"What's the fuckers name? I swear to fucking God, I will string him up by his balls and gut him." he seethed, pacing.
Rosa looked up at him and put her hand out.
"Vaas, please." she croaked.

He looked down at his wife and felt his heart crack. Rushing back to her side, he moved close to her, putting his arms tightly around her, rocking her slightly. He kissed the top of her forehead as she snuggled into him.

"Shush, it's okay. I'm here." he soothed, stroking her arm, "What did he look like?"
"He was tall, taller than you and the same skin colour. He's got black hair and he's missing some fingers." she replied, still crying.
"I was so weak, Vaas. I couldn't fight but, I tried. God knows I tried. I didn't have any weapons and he had me pinned. He did things to me ..."
"I know, I know. You calm down and then I have some business to attend to."

Rosa placed her head into her husband and was shaking despite the heat of the island. Vaas looked up into the clouds and tried not to get up for a few moments and to just be there for his wife.

"Sh, I'm here now. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you, princesa."
"Thank you." she whimpered out.
"Let me take you to the warehouse where you can clean up a little bit, okay? We'll take the back entrance and then I'm is going to take care of that fucker. Nobody touches what is mine. Nobody." he spat. H

e got to his feet before picking her up in his arms. Walking around the shacks and avoiding the eye of the pirates, he managed to get to the warehouse without anyone seeing them. Vaas placed Rosa on the bed as she just hung her head in shame.

"Hermana, please, I can't stand to see you like this." Vaas bent down in front of her.
He gently touched her cheek so she looked at him and managed a slight smile.
"I think I'll be okay." she whispered, her voice full of falseness.
But she had to try and be strong. Just like with Caddo, she would not let it define her. Vaas screamed out loudly, getting to his feet.

"No one messes with mi amor and gets fucking away with it! I'll be back." he growled.
He was about to leave but stopped to kiss her on the top of the head.
"Te amo, Rosa. Everything will be okay. I need you to think. What was his name?"

Rosa snivelled, wiped the tears from under her eyes and looked at him.
Igita."

He left the girl sat by herself, before stomping out of the warehouse and into the daylight of the compound.

"WHERE THE FUCK IS IGITA? BRING HIM TO ME NOW OTHERWISE I WILL SLAUGHTER YOU ALL!" Vaas shouted, striking fear through all of the men.

They all scrambled around him, standing to attention. A man sauntered forward. He wore a sickening smirk on his face and his eyes screamed mean.

"You called Vaas?" he asked, knowing full well what he had done.
"Get down to the fucking beach, now. ALL OF YOU!" he yelled.
All of the pirates murmured before moving. He watched as they all hung their heads, kicking the dirt as they went out of the compound.

"What's going on, boss?" Raul asked, standing by Vaas' side.
"That fucker, Igita." he spat, "Touching up Rosa in the coms shack. He's ignited the fire, amigo and I'm gonna let it fucking burn."

His tone was like nothing Raul had ever heard before and he was a little scared. He stood there stunned into a silence before nodding and rushing out of the compound with the rest of the pirates. Rosa poked her head around the corner of the warehouse door, seeing that all of the men's were gone.

She had wiped her face, applied a fresh coating of makeup and straightened out her clothing. She still felt weak inside but did not want Vaas to see her anymore broken than what she was feeling. She would not let it define her. Walking tentatively out into the sunshine, she caught Vaas before he was about to leave for the beach.

"Vaas." she said, grabbing his hand.
He turned and smiled at her, trying to reassure her that all would be okay.
"I don't want to miss this." she replied, squeezing his fingers.

"I'll give you his head when I'm done with him."

The group of pirates were huddled in an unordered group on the sands. Vaas made his way down the dirt path with Rosa behind him before he stopped and moved her close to Raul.

"She stays with you, okay?"
Raul nodded as Jane came up next to the blonde girl, putting her arm around her. Vaas pushed through the crowd and into the centre of them so that they automatically made a circle around him.

"Igita." he said, his voice menacing.
The man stood forward into the middle of the circle as everyone was on edge, anticipating a fight. Rosa put her hand in Jane's out of fear for Vaas' safety.

"Needing Vaasy bear to fight your battles for you, bitch? Fucking woman." he snarled, chuckling.
Vaas used every fibre in his being to not rip the man's heart out. Instead he clicked his fingers in the air and whistled.

"Ey, you fuck! Look at me. Look me in the fucking eye."
Vaas glared at Igita, his green orbs glittering with murder.
"You're my bitch. I rule this fucking kingdom. Shut the fuck up or you die."
"Look, Vaas, is all of this really necessary?" Igita joked, scoffing.

"Is it necessary? Is it fucking necessary? You know the fucking rules; you don't go near her because she's mine."
"Whore didn't put up a fight. You claim she's all well battled and hard but she didn't even resist. Bet the cunt liked it."

Vaas snapped at the sound of that word, bracing himself. Silence fell around the group, the only sound being heard was the waves.

"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?" Vaas stated, walking around the circle, "Insanity is ... doing the exact same fucking thing, over and over and over again, expecting shit to change. That. Is. Crazy."

Vaas pulled one of his guns from his holster and dropped it on the sand with a thud. He then pulled a knife from the same pouch and dropped it down too.

"The first time somebody told me that, I dunno, I thought that were bullshitting me so, boom, I shot him. But the thing is ... he was right."

Vaas then took another gun and did the same thing with it, still circling around the group. His voice was calm and unsettling as anticipation rippled through the
pirates. Rosa felt her heart rate quicken with everything that Vaas did but she did not see where he was going with it. She only knows that his monologue meant one thing. Death.

"And then I started seeing everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked, all these fucking pricks, everywhere I looked, doing the exact same fucking thing. Over and over and over and over again, thinking 'this time is gonna be different' no, no, no, no, please, 'this time is gonna be different'"

Igita rolled his eyes and pulled a face at Vaas, as the man continued removing his weapons from his waist. Vaas picked up on it, peaking his anger.

"I'm sorry, I don't like the way, you're looking at me. Do you have a fucking problem in your head? Do you think I am bullshitting you, do you thinking I am lying? FUCK YOU, OKAY, FUCK YOU!"

The pirates leaned forward.

"I'm gonna chill hermano, I'm gonna chill. You see the thing is, I told you not to touch mi amor or even speak to her, but intimidating her? My strong woman who is worth a thousand of you, ten times over? My woman who is beautiful, inside and out, and kind, smart, wonderful and mine? But it's not like I am fucking crazy, is it? It's okay ... it's like water under the bridge."

"She's nothing but a Volker bitch, your fuck buddy that you can't let go of. So you wanna know what's fucking crazy, Vaas, take a look in the God damn mirror. Cause you'll see crazy looking right back at you."

Before Igita even knew what was happening, Vaas had charged at him, leaping onto his chest, his knees in his shoulders. His hold was too strong for Igita to move as Vaas put his hands around the man's chin, smirking.

"Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?"

As he finished his sentence, he twisted Igita's head in his hands, with so much force, a sickening crack was heard as Vaas broke his neck. He cackled loudly as the body slowly dropped to the floor, the man now dead.

"Knife." he said, "and spear."

A pirate passed him the tools as Vaas took the knife and cut around Igita's neck. When enough had been cut away, he took the spear, sticking it through the top of his back and upwards, so that the head came off the body as he did so. The man's head hung lifelessly on the point, blood dripping everywhere, covering Vaas even more.

"I KNOW YOU FUCKS KNOW THE RULES! BUT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DISOBEY ME OR MI AMOR! NEXT TIME ANY OF YOU COCKSUCKERS TRY ANYTHING, I MAKE A COLLECTION OF HEADS AT THE FRONT OF THE COMPOUND." he shouted, addressing the pirates.
He held the head up high before driving the spear down into the sand.

"LET THIS BE A WARNING TO YOU ALL! NOW GET BACK TO WORK!" he screamed.
The pirates dispersed as Vaas rushed over to Rosa, grabbing her hand. She collapsed in his arms and he held onto her tightly, planting soft kisses on her head.

"I won't ever let anyone hurt you anymore."

Hey guys! Sorry, long time no speak but you all know what school is like! This chapter seemed a little dark but Rosa is strong and I know that she'll come through this with your help and Vaas' help. I hope that you all liked (is that the right word?) this chapter so please review and stuff! This is just another story arc and after watching GoT, I wanted to incorporate a brutal death like with Drogo when he rips out that guys throat. So that's the inspiration for that bit and I needed something before it to get Vaas reallyy angry so this is what I came up with. Don't hate me please and don't think that this will change Rosa as character. She'll be scarred but it'll all be okay. Speak soon and I hope you enjoyed this long chapter :)

Love you all, my little cherubs x
