Chapter 71 - Date Night
About a month had passed and everything was well on the island.
Rosa was growing stronger each day, trying her best to forget the whole incident had ever happened; it was better that way for her. After that day, Vaas had made sure that everyone remembered who Brody's friends were and that if they ever came back, to simply kill them in whatever way they saw fit. They were untouchable now and people had to realise it.
Rosa and Vaas also decided it would be best if they didn't let Hoyt know who had happened. He was happy on South Island, coming over to North whenever he felt it necessary because as time went on he saw that Rosa and Vaas were the perfect pair for each other and were keeping his business running smoothly.
Jane and Raul were happy too as a few nights after Keith's death, Raul asked Jane if she would marry him. Ever since he saw Vaas and Rosa get 'married' that's all she ever wanted. Raul had realised that too and when Jane came along, he knew she was the girl for him. There was one thing that wasn't the same however and it was eating Vaas up inside but he couldn't do anything about it.
He and Rosa hadn't had sex since the incident.
They were the type of couple that thrived off sex as it was what kept their relationship healthy and made them stronger as a couple. The only thing that he managed to get from her was when she quickly went down on him after he begged for most of the day. He was having to use his brains and think about a way he could make Rosa feel fully comfortable again.
Night fell on Rook Island once again which signaled the end of another day. For most pirates it was poker night and this would usually include Rosa and Vaas. But he had something different planned.
"Raul, hermano, thanks for helping with everything tonight." Vaas said, patting his friend on the back.
Raul exited the warehouse and smiled.
"Hey, it's not problem. I know you two haven't been your full selves since everything happened so I might as well give you a hand."
Raul smirked as Jane and Rose approached the two men.
"Ready for poker night boys?" Rosa asked, rubbing her hands together.
"Erm, actually, Jane and Raul are going to poker night. I have a surprise for you." Vaas said, pointing at Rosa.
"I think that's our cue to leave now, Janey." Raul laughed, putting his arm around his fiancee.
The two walked off as Rosa came closer to Vaas.
"And what have you got planned, Vaasy bear?" she said, pulling his tank top causing him to lean into her.
Damn! Why did she have to be so hot? Vaas just about managed to keep it together to coherently reply to her.
"Hnng ... Follow me and you'll see." he said, taking her hand and opening the warehouse door.
"Close your eyes." he said and she obliged.
"I seriously don't know what the fuck you're doing. If it's another leopard, save it because the other one fucking ran off into the wild."
"She couldn't be tamed, just like you." he said, positioning her in the right spot.
"Okay, you can open 'em."
Lilies.
White lilies scattered all over their bed and the floor. Candles were randomly placed too and a small radio rested on the floor.
"Surprise." Vaas whispered into her ear, rubbing her arms from behind.
Rosa didn't know how to react. Part of her was aching to get away from the situation but another part of her was already wanting to rip Vaas' clothes off. She knew that he'd been suffering since everything and so was she, but she was mentally finding it hard to let the barrier down. She had to try.
"It's perfect." she mumbled, turning around to face Vaas, "I'll try okay?"
She tugged at the cuff of his vest again as he placed his hands on her hips.
"I want it as much as you do, Vaas. It's like there's a wall my mind that won't come down. But, I'll try. I promise."
Vaas nodded. He knew not to push her. He would let her be in control tonight and they would do only what she wanted to do.
He came behind her and kissed Rosa's neck. Rosa sighed, lifting her hand up to touch his face. He snaked a hand up to her chest, a placed it on top of her breast.
"Vaas." she whispered.
She could feel herself getting closed in and all too quickly, she was back in the shack. It was too much. Rosa could feel her chest tightening and her hands going funny as she started to feel sick. She whimpered as she pulled away from Vaas, grabbing at her neck as if she was trying to rub Vaas' touches away.
Why did it make her feel like this? She wanted it as much as Vaas did; Vaas had been a loose cannon since the incident as he lived off sex, as did she. It was one of the best components that made their relationship great. Rosa looked down at the ground like a scared child as she expected Vaas to start shouting or throwing a fit. But she couldn't have been more wrong.
"Princesa?" he said, not moving too quickly as he tiptoed towards her.
"Vaas, don't ... don't look at me. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. God, I feel so stupid." Rosa replied, a single tear rolling down her cheek, "I want to, believe me. I need to. But there's something in here stopping me." Rosa pointed to her head.
"Hey, hey, it's okay." Vaas said, pulling her into his protective arms.
He gently kissed the top of her head.
"How about we take it slow instead? I'll tell you if anything becomes too much, yeah?"
"Only if you're sure." Vaas mumbled into her hair, "I can wait if you really can't do it; I don't want you to feel like you're being pushed into this."
Vaas bent down so he was eye to eye with her and tipped her chin up so she was looking directly back at him.
"Rosa." he started, "I don't know what you went through in that shack and I wish I could take the pain away. I can't imagine how you must have felt. I should have been there. I can't explain how sorry I am that I wasn't there to protect you."
"Vaas, come on."
Rosa tried to interupt but he put a finger to her lips.
"Just know that, I love you so much and if you're really not ready to do this, then we can stop. Now, are you one hundred percentage sure?"
"I'm sure." she said, looking at him, smiling.
She kissed him deeply and allowed him to pick her up and carry her to the bed. He placed her down as she pulled off his shirt. Rosa removed her tank and her bra, wanting to immediately cover up as soon as she had.
But it was like something had changed.
Vaas and his words had made her feel safe again. She took a few deep breaths and Vaas could tell she was nervous.
"Tell me, princesa, and I'll stop straight away."
"I trust you."
Vaas crawled on top of her to kiss her again.
A thin sheet was draped over the sweating pair. Vaas was still atop Rosa and he kissed her forehead.
"Te amo." he murmured.
"Te amo." she replied, giving him a gentle peck on the lips.
Everything had felt like the first time again and it was magical. Vaas removed himself from her and rolled to his side so she could snuggle up next to him. Rosa placed a hand on his toned chest as he wrapped her arm around her.
"I think we're going to be okay. I'm not going to let this define me. I am not going to let these people define me."
"You are strong, Rosa, powerful. You rule this fucking kingdom." Vaas chuckled as he reached over for a cigarette.
Rosa turned her head and stared at him. She watched as the smoke danced in the air between as Vaas put his lips to the end and inhaled. She watched as he blew the smoke from his mouth, forming fancy rings as he did so, showing off. He frowned at her.
"What you staring at, hermana?"
"Nothing." she replied, blissfully happy, "I just love you so much."
"Yeah, yeah, I know." Vaas said sarcastically.
He put out his cigarette before pouncing on Rosa, tickling her. She screamed joyfully with laughter.
"Vaas! VAAS! Get off me!" she laughed, pawing him away.
"Who's the best?"
"You are!"
"Who's the best?"
"YOU ARE!"
Vaas stopped tickling her and looked down at her perfect face before kissing her.
"Love you too."
There was a sense of something different in the compound. It was like a dark cloud had gone away or like a weight had been lifted. Rosa walked down into the centre where a group of pirates were watching Jane and Raul play cards.
"Raising." Jane's voice said, followed by the sound of clinking chips.
"I'll raise too." Raul replied.
The pirates all made a collective 'ooo' noise. Rosa appeared and they parted like the Red Sea.
"What's going on here then?" she asked, hand on her hip.
"They're in the middle of the game of a lifetime, princesa." Vaas replied, facing Rosa on a couch, separated by the playing pair.
"Who's going to win?" she said, walking round to sit next to her husband.
"It's a tough call. This is the last round."
There was a silence as Raul put down his cards. It was a good, no, brilliant deck.
"Read 'em and weep." he said.
The pirates held their breath.
"Not on your life, sunshine. Full. House." Jane said, revealing her deck.
The pirates went wild, screaming and cheering as Raul had to sit back and face defeat.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever." he sulked.
"Aw, Raul honey, it's okay. I'll make you the winner later." Jane purred, rushing to sit on his lap.
He planted a big kiss on her lips as the pair were more loved up than ever. Rosa and Vaas rolled their eyes but started laughing.
"Well, what do we have here?"
"Hoyt?" Rosa asked, jumping up out of her seat.
Everyone stood to attention.
"We didn't hear you coming. Where's the chopper?"
"I took a boat. The chopper wasn't ready to leave quickly as I'm afraid I'm here as a matter of urgency."
Rosa's stomach flipped as she searched for Vaas' hand. He grabbed her lost palm in his and squeezed it tightly. The compound was silent again but not for the right reasons.
"What's happening, Dad?" Rosa managed to whisper out.
Hoyt looked worried as he ran his hands through his hair.
"It's the locals. They're uprising."
It seemed like an eternity before anyone said anything.
"What do you mean?" Vaas said, taking charge and standing tall.
"It's the locals. They've been working on this for a long time, a long time indeed."
"Can't you just kill them all? It's not like there's enough of them for an uprising, as you're calling it."
"Ah! But that's the thing! That's what I thought too. But turns out they're got some that they were hiding. And killing them is not that simple. They know how we work, they know how this system operates because they fucking live in it. They've all ready claimed outposts, burnt my drug fields as well as killing my men and destroying my hubs."
"Hoyt are you sure -" Vaas tried to talk but Hoyt continued.
"I don't know what to do; my men are trying but they've been studying us; watching us. It's like they've trapped us with our own system, Rosa and we're fucked."
Rosa let go of Vaas' hands and moved forward, anger bubbling inside her.
"I HAVE HAD IT WITH PEOPLE THINKING THAT THEY CAN OWN THIS FUCKING ISLAND!" she exploded, taking everyone by surprise.
She jumped onto the stage and looked down at the faces that stared back at her.
"Listen to me, and listen to me FUCKING well. We had Brody and we disposed of him. We had the fucking Rakyat and we disposed of them. We had Liza and we ... AH FUCK IT! Why should we let people think that they can come to OUR island, YOUR island, and take what is now ours?"
The pirates roared.
"ALL I FUCKING WANT IS TO LIVE IN PEACE ON THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLACE. And you should to! We're getting rid of these people once and for all and then we're closing these islands off. It's just going to be us, our men and new recruits. Let the tourists come on their vacations but none of them will be going home. We are NOT allowing another Brody incident to happen again, do you hear me? I want no one sabotaging us, no one trying to kill us and no one DOING SHIT TO US ANYMORE!"
The pirates were riled up. Vaas could see Rosa's blood boiling, a certain fire within her. He smirked as he watched her, knowing that she was his. Hoyt, Jane and Raul watched as evil smiles crept onto their faces.
"What are we going to do?" Hoyt shouted.
Rosa grinned a malicious grin as she moved closer to the men and lowered her voice.
"It's easy. We're going to play them at their own game. We're going to trap them and then dispose of them, just like we do with everyone else."
The pirates roared.
