Meanwhile, God was sitting on his throne, playing around with the sea urchin Castiel had given him earlier.
"Ehh lets see now... OH who could the lucky mermaid be?" God mused, looking at the sea urchin lovingly before Gabriel scurried into the throne room. "Ahem, come in Gabriel." God called, waving the crab to him. Gabriel sighed loudly.
"I mustn't overreact. I must remain calm." He took a deep breath before swimming over to the king. "YES?" He coughed, for the pitch of his voice went up about three octaves. "Um... yes, your majesty?"
"Gabriel... I'm concerned about Castiel. Have you noticed he's been acting peculiar lately?" God said, tossing the sea urchin to the side.
"Oh! Uh... peculiar?" Gabriel rubbed the back of his head nervously.
"Oh ya know, moaning about, daydreaming, singing to himself?" God locked eyes with Gabriel, "You haven't noticed?"
"Oh... Well, I-I." Gabriel began to stutter nervously.
"Gabriel..." God said in a serious tone, "I know you've been keeping something from me." He smiled, putting the crab on his shoulder.
"Keeping something?" Gabriel asked, now extremely nervous.
"About Castiel?"
"Castiel?" He repeated, his legs now shaking.
"In love?" God asked hopefully, holding Gabriel in his hand. Gabriel started hyperventilating before he spat.
"I TRIED TO STOP HIM SIR! HE WOULDN'T LISTEN TO ME, THAT DICKBAG! I TOLD HIM TO STAY AWAY FROM HUMANS! THEY ARE FUCKED UP, THEY ARE TROUBLE!" Gabriel shouted, causing God's eyes to go wide.
"Humans?! WHAT ABOUT HUMANS?" God demanded. Gabriel swam nervously out of God's hand.
"Humans? Ehh, who said anything about humans?" Gabriel attempted to swim away, but once again, God had him in a strangle hold in his hand.
However, as all of this was going on, Bobby and Castiel were swimming to the grotto.
"Bobby, why can't you just tell me what this is all about?!" Castiel demanded, pushing the rock out of the way and swimming inside.
"You'll see... It's a surprise!" Bobby smiled as soon as he and Castiel spotted the surprise. It was the large statue of Dean that fell off the ship in the wreckage.
"Oh... Bobby... Bobby you're the best!" Castiel swam over to the statue, encircling it. "It looks just like him! It even has his eyes!" Castiel put his hand on the cold statue's face. "Why Dean, run away with you? Oh my, this is all so... so sudden!" Castiel giggled wildly, spinning around in glee. However, his joy was quickly interrupted when his blue eyes fell upon the form of his father, standing in the entrance to his grotto with pure anger in his eyes.
"Daddy?" God swam forward, his hand clenched tight around his triton.
"I consider myself a reasonable merman. I set certain rules, and I expect those rules to be obeyed!" God boomed, his voice getting louder and louder and Castiel became even more terrified.
"But dad, I-"
"Is it true you rescued a human from drowning?" God demanded, his teeth gritted.
"Daddy, I had to-" God cut Castiel off again.
"Contact between the human world and the merworld is strictly forbidden! Castiel you know that! Everyone knows that!"
"He would've died!"
"One less human to worry about!" God growled and Castiel became more infuriated.
"You don't even know him!"
"KNOW HIM?! I don't have to know him, they're all the same! Spineless, savage, harpooning fish eaters! Incapable of any feeling-" God was cut off when Castiel stood up straight, protecting the statue of Dean.
"DADDY I LOVE HIM!" Castiel screamed at his father, immediately regretting it the moment he said it. God's face turned bright red in anger.
"NO! Have you lost your senses completely?! He's a human, you're a merman!"
"I don't care!" Castiel spat defiantly.
"So help me Castiel, I am going to get through to you," He growled, his trident starting to glow with power, "And if this is the only way, SO BE IT!" God shouted, shooting bursts of energy at all of Castiel's treasures, destroying them. Castiel cried out in sheer horror, all of his beautiful things being destroyed right before his eyes. But then, Castiel saw his father's eyes glance toward his most prized possession: Dean's statue.
"DADDY NO!" Castiel screamed, but it was too late. One of God's energy bursts shot out and struck the statue of Dean, shattering it into hundreds of little pieces. Castiel truly couldn't believe what his father had just done. All of his most beloved treasures, every single human thing he had spent months and months collecting, were destroyed in half a second. Castiel stared at his father, completely horrified. He burst out in sobs, tears pouring from his eyes as he collapsed onto the floor. God watched his son lose his control and it just hit him of the gravity of what he just did. God swam out of the grotto filled with guilt, the sounds of his son crying still echoing in his ears. Gabriel swam over to Castiel nervously, his bottom lip quivering.
"Cas...I-"
"Just go away!" Castiel growled and Gabriel's jaw dropped. He felt so guilty, his own body shaking with the sheer amount of guilt he had. Castiel's sobs consumed his entire body, his whole world completely shattered before his eyes.
However, unknown to Castiel, there were two figures lurking in the shadows, their golden eyes watching him with a strange fascination and curiosity.
