Back to familiar territory...Buu begins.
Gohan's breath caught in his throat. Well, here goes. He let out the air in his lungs and closed his eyes, and began to power down...
Videl only could stare at the man as the air around her seemed to get...lighter. He stopped glowing as much and his hair shrunk a bit. It turned a gross yellow, then a nasty tan, brown, then finally stopped on black. Go-Gohan?
She'd always suspected it was him. But for her to actually find out she was right about it was something she was not prepared for. Gohan revealing himself as the Gold Fighter of Satan City made something change in their relationship.
Gohan slowly opened his eyes, head tilted forward and eyes lifted up towards Videl. "Surprise." He chuckled, incredibly nervous. A tremble could be heard in his voice.
She stood there, staring. She continued staring. She kept staring. She wouldn't stop staring. "Gohan?" She asked disbelieving.
"Heh, yea?" He asked, completely nervous and scared of what the little lady might do.
"You were the Gold Fighter all this time?" Videl asked.
Gohan sighed. "Yeaup. I've been the guy whose been pissing you off. Sorry about that by the way." Feeling a little bit in danger at what she might do.
Videl sat down on the roof top, her mind racing.
"Videl, you alright?" Gohan asked noticing her change lost his nervous edge.
She sat there as her thoughts flashed back to her moments with Gohan. Trying to call him out as the Gold Fighter, noticing his build in gym, his brilliant mind out doing her own every time, as the Gold Fighter in her room comforting her, the warmth and security that came off of him...
"I'm fine Gohan." She mumbled suddenly feeling a bit warm in her cheeks, digging her face into the cover her arms would provide. "I'm wanting to go home. I need to talk to my dad."
"Of course." Gohan said, not sure of how to react to her reaction of the reveal.
Videl went home. Or rather, had Gohan fly her home. The still damaged front yard of the estate greeted them as they landed, ignoring the paparazzi around, taking photos of the two, Gold Fighter carrying Videl Satan.
"I'll leave you two if you want." Gohan offered to Videl.
Videl nodded. "That would be best, thanks."
Setting her down, Gohan watched as she walked away. Then he heard the clicks of the cameras. Videl at this point had been around Gohan long enough to recognize the amount of energy pressure that he released was massive, for a human at least. All the camera's in a fifty meter radius exploded internally, destroying any film that had photo's of the duo. She turned around to see a smirking Gohan, and she smiled gratefully at him.
As Gohan took off into the sky, Videl entered the Satan mansion, both ignored the curse words of the infuriated reporters. She knew where her father was. In the study. Feeling bad about himself. Either watching the cell games or drinking. Maybe he was doing both. He knew that he'd dug himself into a massive grave.
Hercule sat in his study, a bottle of whiskey in hand. He'd only cracked it open, taken one sip and spat it out. He was to afraid to even drink. He heard the door creak open.
"Hey daddy." His daughters voice rang out and echoed in the study, small and rather quiet.
Hercules eyes watered up. "Baby... I'm sorry!" He shouted as he was suddenly wrapped around her feet like a child. "Please don't be mad at me!"
"I can't help but be mad at you, but that will pass." She sighed. "I am very disappointed though." She said as she walked away. "The least you could have done was recognize those who died fighting Cell. You owe them that much." And with that she closed the door, leaving her father stunned at her words and her brief visit and sudden departure.
It has been two months since that meeting. The occasional father daughter interaction were brief nonetheless. Videl would always leave. The paparazzi's reports of Videl with the Gold Fighter had exploded. The reporters would ask Mr. Satan about this 'love affair' every time he stepped out of the house. Each time Mr. Satan would be silent and almost sadly leave.
It's now almost time for the biggest event of the year. The twenty-fifth World Martial Arts Tournament was upon Satan City. Videl had convinced her now semi-boyfriend Gohan to compete. Especially after how Sharpener got his ass kicked by Gohan when he went a bit too far trying to hurt Gohan after Videl started spending more than twice the amount of time with Gohan than she did with him. Beating Sharpener almost seemed to help convince Gohan join. After all he could use the money to compete.
Now, three weeks until the tournament, Mr. Satan has set up a special, and quite sudden press conference.
"I realize that after all these years after the Cell Games," He began. "That we have failed to publicly recognize somethings. Somethings that should have never been forgotten. Somethings that we should be ashamed that we have ignored. I know that I am certainly ashamed of it myself." He said, glancing to his left at Videl who sat on stage at the insistence of her father as well as Gohan.
Videl narrowed her eyes at him. What are you up to?
Breathing deep, Mr Satan turned back to address the crowd in front of him. "We have yet to publicly pay our respects to those who challenged the monster Cell during the Cell Games." He stated, causing Videl's eyes to open wide in shock.
"Two men, both not fully human themselves, one of them not entirely sane, but both men nonetheless, died along with another man died. One of the two men was known as Lapis or Seventeen and the other known as Sixteen were both killed by the monster Cell. Finally, the third man, a husband, father and a great fighter. To keep his families privacy intact I have been supplied only with a name. Goku was the third victim to Cell's rampage." Mr Satan took another breath. "A moment of silence for these fallen, brave men who tried to defend us from the monster Cell." Everything went dead quiet at the champions words, you could have heard a pin drop.
Videl remained silent, with tears of pride welling up in her eyes. The conference was closed and the Satan's climbed into their limo. The moment the door clicked shut, Videl launched herself at her father and embraced him. "I'm so proud of you, daddy." She said, a few tears rolling down her cheeks.
At these words, nothing could have held back the tears that were now spilling down the world champions face.
A few days later.
"Gohan? I have a favor to ask of you." Videl said, looking up at Gohan in the hallway as they walked towards their next class.
Gohan glanced down at her with the goofy grin on his face. "Sure, what is it?" He asked.
Feeling slightly embarrassed at having to ask someone for help, something she still wasn't entirely used too.
With her cheeks noticeably more red than normal, she took a deep breath. "Will you teach me how to fly?"
A.N. And close. This is the end. Honestly I thought it would go out further but this way it lines up pretty damn well with the tournament/Buu saga. Anyway, I'm here to explain. Yamcha told Mr Satan very limited information, only the deaths and he left out the name 'Son' and excluded Goku's title of being the former world martial arts champion. Any information Yamcha lacked, Yamcha passed on information from Eighteen.
I've enjoyed writing this, it's been a great experience. I greatly hope you all enjoyed it as well. My writing skills have greatly improved and I'll try to revise the earlier chapters because admit it, they are pretty shitty.
Upcoming news! I'm not done writing. This story is the end but, not my last story. I plan on making a Fairy Tail story. I've read many summaries and many Fairy Tail fanfic's to know that I have a moderately original idea in mind along with a rather interesting OC. But I will be designing the OC myself. That means, the look, the behaviour, and the magic spells. As well as a somewhat detailed photo of the bastard to put on the front of the story.
It's been a pleasure once again. I hope to see you read that story when it's released. (If I can get off my ass to make it.)
