Lyanna hadn't intentoinally wanted to get married at all in her life and especially didnt want to become queen, she'd rather have a sword in her hand and a horse underneath her instead of a child in her hand and the king underneath her. Rhaegar was the only king she would ever be comfortable with. She had spent all her time with Rhaegar up to the day before her wedding, it was bad luck to see him the day before the wedding. She stayed in all day with women of the court rushing around her and telling her how lucky she was and how handsome Rhaegar is.
It was the day. She was awoken early by Harla and put into the bath. The water was scented with rose and honey, the sweet elegant smell filled her nose and would soon make her whole body smell like that. After she was fully soaked in the scented water, Harla walked her over to her dressing table. She put her hair up in many different southern styles but Lyanna hated them all, after she had gotten sick of her hair being pulled in every different direction she finally told Harla to put it in a simple braid which ran down the right side of her head as her hair reached all the way to her hip. Her normally brown tangled mess screamed elegance and beauty for something so simple. Harla then brought out her wedding dress. The blue dress made Lyanna's grey eyes stand out from her pale face, it also made her look paler (not deathly pale but a beautiful northern snow-like pale). The white vines running up it went around all of her curves exaggerateing them and making her look more like the healthy woman she was, her figure looked small and not able to carry children to some but the dress made her look like what others should think of her. Beautiful.
A heavy white cloak was draped over her shoulders. Lyanna turned around to see who put it there. She saw a tall, long faced, bearded man with a warming smile, Rickard Stark had travelled from Winterfell earlier to get to his only daughter's wedding. When she saw him he smiled and then chuckled and embraced her.
"Father, I have missed you" Lyanna said breaking the embrace
"Lyanna, you look beautiful. That prince is a lucky man" Rickard said looking into Lyanna's eyes
"I am so happy you could be here"
"I woudnt miss my daughter marrying the future king"
"I guess I am ready now, you should go and break your fast with the rest of the guests" Lyanna said
Rhaegar had been looking forward to this day ever since he fell in love with Lyanna. It was almost like love at first sight as he had immediately known that she was beautiful and the woman he originally wanted to marry. He fully fell in love with her when they had gone riding and she had saved his life, showing her wild side. She was nothing like Elia, Lyanna was strong.
That morning Rhaegar was made to have a bath so that he smelled good for his wife and for their bedding. His white hair was draped down his back just as it usually was, it seemed cleaner and straighter for this day. He had a black tunic on with the Targaryen, three headed dragon embroidered into the side. He matched his tunic with black breeches and black boots. In his arms he carried a heavy, black and red cloak. The cloak that he was going to put over Lyanna to show their bond and love and to bring her under his protection (even though he was sure she could protect herself). Once he was ready Ser Arthur Dayne opened the door for him and they walked to break their fasts with all the guests. Lyanna wouldnt be there but he knew he would see her and be with her for the rest of his life.
"Are you ready to get married again?" Dayne asked as they were walking
"I've never been so ready" Rhaegar said excitedly
"You really love this girl dont you?"
"I do" Rhaegar admitted to the old knight
They entered the large feasting hall and Rhaegar seated himself next to his father. Aerys was wearing a long, purple robe with gold designs through it. The robe was the same colour of his lighter purple eyes. Whilst Rhaegar had dark violet eyes his father had lighter ones. The king tapped his long finger nails against the table until someone started to talk.
"Im glad im not marrying 'er" The booming voice of Robert Baratheon sounded from further down the table
"And why is that, my lord" Rhaegar said looking annoyed at the tall man
"Too wild for me, she would argue with me about everything. I couldnt tame 'er"
"No one can. She is wild and thats why I love her" Rhaegar admitted to everyone at the table
"You're a strange man, my prince" A withering voice said from next to Robert.
"Is your wife not like my own? beautiful, smart but still has some form of personality" Brandon Stark asked the man
"They may be sisters but they are different. Lysa is more dutiful and that why I like her, as I am getting older I couldnt handle a wild wife" Jon Arryn wittered
"STOP TALKING ABOUT YOUR WOMEN!" Aerys shouted and stode up causing his chair to go flying to a pillar behind him
"Sorry your grace, I know your grief is still fresh" Jon Arryn said and quietly sank down back into his chair
The king stormed off and didnt return for a couple of minutes but he brought what seemed to be a sword with him. All the lords started getting things out from under the table. Wedding gifts.
"My son, here is the family sword. Valyrian steel" Aerys handed Rhaegar the sword. It had a red pommel with a silver dragon on the top with ruby encrusted eyes.
"Thank you father, I am honored" Rhaegar said
Robert Baratheon gave him a helm. Rickard Stark gave him a dagger. The rest of the lords then gave their presents to the future king. Rhaegar felt honored as his last wedding had been smaller and he didnt recieve the family sword. He wondered why his father gave it to him before his death.
They then had a small breakfast before the mulitple meals that would be served at the wedding. Viserys was sat next to Rhaegar silently for the whole meal. Rhaegar had heard that he hadnt talked since he learnt of his mothers death. He was concered for his little brother but still it was his wedding day so he could be happy and not burden himself with others problems.
Lyanna was in a small room with ladies of the court that hadnt joined their husbands in the morning meal. She wished she could just get married and not have to be surrounded with gossipers and annoying or boring women. Most only went to the meal with her to see her dress before the rest of Kingslanding did. All she could think about was marrying Rhaegar Targaryen and bedding Rhaegar Targaryen. Most women commented that Lyanna's hair was too bland and not good enough for a royal wedding, Lyanna remembered why she prefered the company of men.
After they had all eaten all of the guests were transported to the Great Sept of Baelor. Rhaegar was transported in a litter with his father and brother. A silent journey to the best day of his felt all eyes on him as he walked inside the huge sept. The roof was a dome and the stainglass windows were mostly covered in the seven pointed star. Rhaegar wished they could of had a small ceremony in front of a hart tree, Lyanna's Gods, with only the immediate family. It was the royal wedding, it had to be extravagant.
Lyanna walked to the doors. They opened as the whole room had their eyes on her. Her father linked her arm and walked her down the ailse. Hundreds of people she didnt even know were there. The anxiously looked at her father. He was facing her soon to be husband. Lyanna hadnt even looked at Rhaegar yet but she lifted her head and looked at him. As soon as they locked eyes she could see a look of amazement and shock in Rhaegar's eyes. Like he had just seen the most beautiful thing ever, in his mind he had.
Once they had gotten to Rhaegar and the high septon, Rickard took the maidens cloak off Lyanna as the septon told him to. Rhaegar had the Targaryen cloak in his arms. It looked to be red velvet and to be very heavy on Lyanna's small frame.
"You may now cloak the bride and bring her under your protection" The old man said as Rhaegar draped the cloak over Lyanna "Look upon one another and say the words"
"Father, Smith, Warrior, Mother, Maiden, Crone, Stranger. I am hers/his and he/she is mine from this day until the end of my days" They both said in unison and then kissed passionately to bind their love.
They then got transported to the Red Keep for the feast. Most guests had gone back to their rooms to change their clothing. Rhaegar and Lyanna decided that they would stay in their wedding clothes until one another ripped them off. The Red Keep contained more people than the actual wedding ceremony. From Dorne to the Wall people came from just to witness their marriage. Lyanna wished that they had met on their own accord and it wasnt forced and that they fell in love gradually and married because they wanted to, but now she definitely wanted to.
They seated themselves at the main daise with the king and the rest of the royal family on one side and the Starks on the other. Lyanna sat next to her father and her husband. She had been allowed to take the heavy cloak off which she was happy about as it was weighing her down a lot. Rhaegar held her hand on the table as their first course was served. A lamprey pie was placed in front of the couple on beautiful, golden plates.
After about another seventeen courses where the couple only ate a bite of each, they decided that it was time to dance. They made their way to the floor where most couples were lazily dancing to the songs. They took each others hand as Rhaegar swang Lyanna around to the beat of the Bear and the Maiden Fair. Afterwards they were so exhausted after dancing to at least six songs and retired back to the daise.
The king stood up "Time for the bedding ceremony!" The king announced
Lyanna was scared. She now knew that many men would be carrying her off and undressing her on the way to drop her off at her wedding bed. As soon as the king sat, men from all over the room ran for a chance to undress Lyanna. Robert Baratheon with all his strength lifted Lyanna from over the daise onto her back, men then went to her legs to help carry her. The huge hand of Robert went to her breasts to take the corset of her dress off. Lyanna punched him in the face as hard as she could. Oberyn Martell then moved away from Lyanna and sank back into the crowd. Jaime Lannister helped carry her but didnt even try to undress her which Lyanna was pleasantly surprised at, he was only about seven-and-ten so he wouldnt have much experience at taking off corsets. Every man that tried to take any clothing off her, Lyanna either punched or kicked them until they put her in her room.
Rhaegar had already been through this once before. He stumbled with ladies all around him trying to unlace his breeches and slide off his tunic. Everytime a hand was on him he tried to wriggle it off as he wanted Lyanna to undress him instead of the drunken ladies pulling him through the halls. They eventually got him the room with only his hair slightly messy and his breeches untied but not unlaced.
Lyanna was innocently stood in the room with her wedding cloak around her drinking some wine. She was still clothed and looked to be not touched. Rhaegar knew that she had to of punched someone as she wasnt a women to be messing with. She looked at him and walked over.
"Have you had fun with the old women of the court?" Lyanna asked teasing him
"You look to be untouched, how many did you punch?"
"Only all of them who touched me"
"Im glad you did, now the pleasure is all mine"
