Chapter 17:
Ball Aftermath
...
It was an hour pass midnight and the Summer Ball Party was over. Guests were seen leaving the castle, all of them talking about events that happened tonight. Standing by the door once more was Toadsworth. This time Princess Peach was there with him.
Once all the guests were gone, they headed back to the ball room. Some of the toad servants were already cleaning everything up. Mario was standing next to Daisy in order to keep her company. The only one missing was in the group was Luigi.
"Are you feeling better, Daisy?" Peach asked.
She nodded. "Yeah, I am." She said. "Sorry for my behavior earlier; I was totally out of line."
"Its okay, Daisy, I understand."
"Were you able to talk to Master Luigi yet?" Toadsworth asked.
Sadly, Daisy shook her head. "I look all over but couldn't find him. My guess is he left with her."
"You could always talk to him in the morning." Peach reasoned. "For now, it's been a long night; we should clean up and get some rest for tonight."
The others nod in agreement with her. She turned to Mario. "Mario, you're more than welcome to stay for the night."
Mario smiled. "Thanks Peach, but I think I'll head home. I want to be there for when Luigi gets home."
"If you insist,"
They spent thirty minutes cleaning around the ball room before turning in for the night. Mario kissed Peach on the cheek and bid his 'good nights' before heading back to his house. Truth be told, he would love to stay over tonight but he had too many questions to ask Luigi; questions that couldn't wait till morning.

...
The night was calm and peaceful as the newly couple slowly made their way to the meeting tree. They were taking their time getting there, enjoying their moment together as much as they could. When they finally did make it to the tree, Wendy turns to Luigi.
"Once again, the night didn't turn out as I planned," she said "but I guess with you, it never does, does it?"
"No, but in the end, it turned out better than we had hope."
"Yeah, I guess that's true. And surprisingly, I had a great time tonight."
"Me too, Wendy"
Slowly, they lean into each other for a kiss good night. But at last minute, Wendy pulled away. Luigi frowned.
"Is something wrong?"
Wendy reached for her purse and opened it. "I almost forgot… if I show up back home looking like a human, King Dad will toss a fit."
She pulled out her wand and transform herself back a koopa. She turned back to him. "Sorry…"
"It's okay," Luigi smiled "you're still beautiful, human or koopa."
Wendy blushed. Luigi lean over and kiss her on the cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow, okay?"
"Sure,"
They shared a goodbye kiss and parted ways. Luigi watched her go until she was no longer in sight. Once she was gone, he turned and headed home himself. He soon made it back to town and started the path back to his house, humming a happy tone.
When he got home, he entered through the front door, still humming his happy tone, and closed the door behind him.
"Well, someone had fun tonight."
Luigi jumps fearfully and quickly turn around, thinking it was an intruder. Instead, Mario stood there with a smirk on his face, clearly amused with the reaction he just saw.
"Mario," Luigi hissed, glaring at his brother. "Don't do that! You know, I get scared easily."
Mario put his hands up in submission. "Sorry, Bro, you looked so happily distracted that I couldn't help myself – which reminds me…" He crossed his arms and raised an assumed eye-brow. "Why didn't you tell me about Lady Fettuccine sooner or that you were seeing someone in the first place?"
Luigi sighs. He knew this was coming. He and Mario tell each other about everything, they rarely keep secrets from each other. However, this was one secret he wasn't sure on how he was going to explain especially since it involves one of their main enemies.
"I'm sorry, Mario. I wanted to tell you, but it all happened so fast that I wanted to be sure if things were really getting serious between me and…Lady Fettuccine."
He reframed himself from using her real name. He wasn't sure what his brother reaction would be if he told him was really dating Wendy O. Koopa, the daughter of his arch-enemy who repeatedly tries to force his girlfriend into marriage and take over her kingdom. Something told Luigi that he won't be please by this and they most likely will get into a fight over it.
Mario frowned and places his hands on his side. "So when did you two meet? Obviously, this must have happened after you and Daisy broke up."
Luigi nodded. "We met just a week before the Ball. I have seen her around before, but we haven't really talked until then."
Mario nodded, signaling him to continue.
"Well, after Daisy broke up with me over the phone, I was upset so I left to clear my head. I meet up with Fettuccine and she seemed to be having a bad day as well. We talked for a bit and well…" Luigi blushed slightly. "…actually she asked me to be her date for this party at a nightclub."
"A nightclub? So wait, when I found you in the bathroom last night all dressed up…"
"I actually had come back from the nightclub."
"Okay, so then what happen?"
"Well, while at the club, there was some trouble between her and her 'supposably' best friend."
"By 'supposably' you mean rival, right?"
Luigi nodded. "I stood up for her and after she told her so called 'friend' off, we left and that's when she offered to help me with my situation with Daisy."
"Situation? Oh, so you were trying to make Daisy jealous."
Luigi cast his gaze down. "I thought it will help get my point across in wanting to take our relationship serious."
"Well, from what I saw it worked. So what happened next?"
"Yesterday, I asked her to be my date for the ball and she actually said yes." Luigi smiled fondly. "I knew I like her at the time, but I wasn't sure how much I like her until I saw her this evening."
"Let me guess," Mario smirked. "When you saw her your mouth flew open and you started flapping it like a fish out of water."
Luigi smirked. "Talking from experience, big brother?"
"You could say that, little brother…so then what?"
"Well, we left for the party. Before we entered, I gave her the necklace which you saw. We came in, she met you and the others, and after we left I confess my feelings towards her."
"And what did she say to that?"
"She actually felt the same way. And even better, she agreed to be my girlfriend."
Mario smiled. "Hey, that's great, Luigi. What did you do after that?"
Luigi looked away and blushed. Mario couldn't help but smirk.
"Weegie," he said, using his brother's childhood nickname. "Tell me what happened."
Luigi rubbed the back of his head, his blush still noticeable. "I kind of got excited and…kissed her."
"You kissed her? Within the first few seconds of hooking up with her?" Mario was laughing. Clearly, he didn't expect his shy little brother to do such a thing. "Alright, now you got to tell me; what did she say to that?"
Luigi blush some more and look up to the ceiling. "She asked to me demonstrated how to kiss someone properly."
Mario was still giggling. "So you swoop in for seconds, uh? I can only guess that you got thirds when you drop her home."
Luigi hit his brother on the shoulder, ceasing his laughter. "This is serious, Bro."
Mario rubbed the shoulder that was hit. "I know, I know, and so was Daisy when she saw you two together."
Luigi frowned. He felt guilty for wanted to make her jealous earlier. He just wanted to show her that he was serious with their relationship….well, past relationship now.
"How was Daisy?" he asked softly. "Was she really that upset when she saw us?"
Mario nodded. "Peach and I had to stick with her just so she doesn't pick a fight with your new sweetheart. And when Toadsworth told us you two were intimate…well, let's just say she looked ready to start a war."
"Toadsworth?"
"He wanted to meet Fettuccine when he heard you two talking. I guess he left to give you two some 'private time'."
Luigi sighs. "I'm sorry, Bro, I didn't mean to get you and Peach involved."
"It's alright, bro; at least one of us had a good night and truth be told, I'm glad it was you. But I think you should talk to Daisy. I can't say much, but she had something important to say to you."
Luigi nodded. Mario yarned and stretched his tired limps. "Well, I'm beat. I guess I'll hit the hay for tonight."
Luigi nodded and followed his brother up the stairs. They shared their 'good nights' and retired in their own rooms. After changing into his PJs, Luigi let out a tired yarn and climbed into bed. He settled into the covers and smiled
"Good night, Wendy..."
