Chapter 20:
The Start of Something New

...

Luigi was walking through Toad Town slowly, his head cast down since he had left the castle. No one approached him, seeing as he was such a sad mood; however, they did whisper among each other as he passes by. Some might think his sadness was related to his new relationship. But judging by the number of toads that were in the ball room when he left, they'll learn the truth soon enough.

Once he had made it outside of Toad Town, he started heading to the tree he and Wendy usually meet under. It took him a bit longer than normal – given the fact that he was in such a depressing mood right now. But in due time he made it.

When he got there, he saw Wendy sitting under the tree, humming to herself as she fiddles with the red necklace he gave her while she waits for him. He smiled; he stands by his statement last night. Human or not, she still looked beautiful. Once he had approach the tree, Wendy notice his arrival and greeted him.

"Hey there, plumber"

"Hey," Luigi sat next to her under the shade and kiss her on the check. "You look beautiful, by the way."

Wendy flushed. "Yeah, I know, it's a given. Oh um, you look nice too. As cute as a green button"

"Thank you," Luigi chuckled softly. But his smile soon turned to a frown. Wendy notice and wondered what was wrong.

"Are you okay? You look sad all of a sudden"

Luigi sighed. "Yeah, I'm fine. It's just that…well…"

"Well, what?"

Luigi hesitant slightly before turning to her, "Well…I talked to Daisy earlier."

"Your ex?" Wendy narrowed her eyes in suspicion. "Why? I thought you two were over with?"

Luigi puts his hands up in defense. "We are over. It's just that she didn't know that."

Wendy didn't looked convince. Luigi try explaining things further.

"I promise, Wendy; me and Daisy are finish. I mean, she asked me this morning if we could get back together and I told her no because I was with you now."

Wendy raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

Luigi nodded. "Really; my heart belongs to you now, not her."

Wendy blush when he said that. The green hero sure has a way with words. He took her hand and held it fondly in between his own.

"Trust me, Wendy; I will never leave you for someone else, no matter what."

"Promise?"

"I promise"

Wendy studied him for a little bit, making sure he was being truthful. He was. "Fine, I believe you."

Luigi smiled and kiss her on the cheek again. "So... was there anything else you talked about?" she asked.

Luigi shock his head. "No, not really; she was pretty upset when I left." He cast his head down in thought. "I'm not sure if she still wants to be my friend anymore."

Wendy shrugged. "Well, don't be too upset about it. It wasn't your fault. If anything, it was hers."

"I know, but still... she was my first girlfriend. And even though our relationship didn't work out, I still care about her... as a friend, of course." He added quickly.

Wendy 'humph' and glance over to the side. "Well, I guess I can understand that; her being your first girlfriend and all. But..." She smirked and moved over to sit on his lap. "I'm your girlfriend now and as your new girlfriend, it's my job to make you forget about your old one."

"Oh?" Luigi smiled playfully; he could see where this was heading to. "And how are you going to that?"

Wendy's smirk grew and she gently places her hands on both sides of his face. "Simple, like this..."

She pulls him closer and kisses him right on the lips. It only lasted for a seconds before they parted ways.

"Better?" She asked.

"A little," Luigi replies.

"Really?" Wendy raises an eyebrow. "Alright, let try this again."

They lean in and kiss each other again, this time lasting a bit longer.

"How about now?"

Luigi nodded. "A little better,"

Wendy puffed, but smiled nevertheless. "Okay then, let try this one more time."

They try once more, the kiss lasting longer the first two. They parted after a minute.

"How's that?" Wendy sat there, feeling victorious at what she achieved.

Luigi thought about it, trying to make up his mind. "I don't know..."

Wendy looks at him with disbelief. "You don't know?"

He shook his head. "Nope, you might have to kiss me some more just to make sure."

Wendy smiled. "Okay, now I know you're joking."

"Okay, I am." he chuckles lightly.

"Well... do you want it or not?"

Luigi smirked and lean in to kiss once more. The kiss lasted much longer than their previous ones and managed to get a bit deeper. After several minutes, the two parted to catch their breath.

"Okay," Luigi sighs. "I feel better now."

Wendy smirked. When it comes to kissing, she enjoys it greatly. She had seen other people locking lips before and always wonder how it feels. Now that she had experience it for herself, she could see why people do it so often. And if that's all it takes to keep the plumber happy, then she probably will be doing it very often.

Their time was cut short when Wendy's wand started beeping. Both of them jumped at the suspected sound before Wendy pull out her wand to see who it was.

"Opps, I gotta go," She stood up and kisses him on the cheek. "See you later, 'K?"

Luigi nodded and watch her leave. Once she was gone, he stood up and started heading back home himself. The moment he got back into town, strange things started happening to him. The townsfolk he walk pass will look at him and start giggling to themselves. Kids will stop and point at him, laughing as they did so. Luigi was confused by their actions but he ignored it and continue on.

He stopped by the store, hoping to grab some things for lunch. The same thing happened to him there; shoppers would look at him and just start snickering. It was annoying to say the least and when he asked the cashier what was wrong, all he got was a giggling respond of nothing.

He left the store feeling frustrated and headed back home to start with lunch. He had made about two sandwiches when he heard Mario entering inside the house.

"Hey bro, I didn't expect to see you until later." Mario greeted him.

"Well, Lady Fettuccine had some place to be so our time together was cut short." Luigi replies "You want some?"

"Yeah, sure,"

Mario sat down at the table as his brother hands him the two sandwiches. He took one and started eating. As he ate, he looks over to his younger brother who was making some more for himself. He swallowed,

"So, you guys are meeting again tomorrow, right?"

Luigi finish making his sandwiches and started putting everything away. "Yes,"

Mario was half way done with his first sandwich when he asked, "Does tomorrow's agenda include you making out with her all day?"

Luigi nearly drop the items in his hands. Blushing slightly, he turns to his older brother. "What makes you say that?"

Mario took the second sandwich and smirked. "You got lipstick on your upper lip."

Luigi blinked when he said that. He grabbed a clean pan and had a look at its reflection. Sure enough, there was lipstick on his lip and on his cheek as well. Mario laughs as Luigi blush madly. He didn't even know Wendy wears lipstick. And it would explain why everyone was laughing.

"Ha ha, very funny," He grabs a towel and wipes the lipstick off. Mario was still laughing so he tries to change topics. "So how did the clean up go?"

Mario calm down from his laughter and continue on eating. "A bit quiet and slow moving; Daisy was depress though. Peach and Toadette are trying to cheer her up."

Luigi grew sadden by the news. Mario looks up and tries to reassure him.

"It wasn't your fault, Bro. You gave her plenty chances and she blew it. She say so herself."

"She did?"

Mario nodded. "I'm sure she'll be fine. Just give her some time. You know how break ups are."

"Yeah, I do." Luigi sighs.

He sat down and started digging into his sandwich. The two brothers sat in silence for a bit. Mario was almost done with his second sandwich when he spoke again.

"Hey Luigi, I got a question."

Luigi looks up to the shorter man and swallow, "Shoot,"

"Well, it's about Lady Fettuccine"

Luigi grew tense when he said that. Did he know? If so, how? He mentally shook his head and tries to remain calm. "What about her?"

"It's her name..."

Luigi eyes widen from surprise. "Her...name?"

Mario nodded. "Yeah, I know it sounds stupid and all, but I can't help it... She does know that she's named after a pasta dish, right?"

Luigi blinked. He didn't expect that kind of question. He thought his brother was getting suspicious or had found out about him and Wendy. He let out a small sigh of relief and answer his brother's question. "Yes, Mario, she does know."

'At least, I think she does,'

"That's good." Mario said. "It would have been awkward if you had to explain it to her." He sat back against his seat and finishes his sandwich. "You know, fettuccine alfredo is my favorite dish."

Luigi chuckled. "One of many I suppose,"
