Author's Note:
Wow, over 100 reviews. Thanks you guys.
You know, this is the first story I wrote to get this many reviews. The closest story I had before this was Transformers of the Stars which had 93 reviews in 77 chapter (still not sure if I'm going to continue working on it though).
I have recently got into this game called Greed for Glory: War Strategy. I just made a kingdom for myself and I'm looking for some members. So if any of you guys play that game, look me up. My Kingdom is called the Rainbow Kingdom and my username is Queen Emmaline.

So Anyways... Please Enjoy This Chapter :)

Chapter 21:
Old Rivalry
...
A few days have passed since the Summer Ball and everything was surprisingly serene. Not much has happened on both sides. Bowser seems to be taking a break from his constant kidnapping, but only to develop new plans on how he was going to conquer the Mushroom Kingdom. Regardless, everyone was grateful for the peace and quiet for once.
During that time, Luigi would always leave the house in the morning to see Wendy by the tree they always meet up at. Sometimes he would bring her flowers, but most of the time he would bring a small box of chocolate since the pink koopa had a sweet tooth.
While the man in green was spending time with his girlfriend, the man in red was left at home to do his own things. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't spend much time with his girlfriend due to the fact she was busy trying to comfort Daisy. Having nothing else to do, the red plumber would stay home and do some chores around the house until his brother returns hours later.
Today Luigi and Wendy were heading into Toad Town to have lunch. Wendy had transformed herself into a human again. This time she was wearing a dark green dress with a little green belt around her waist, her red beaded necklace and matching earrings. She still wore her normal gold bracelets, pink shoes, and a smaller pink bow. (1)
The moment they stepped into town together, people has been watching and whispering about them as they walked by. The two had become very popular since the Summer Ball, almost as popular as Peach and Mario. Several toads came up to them and asked for a picture or an autograph.
Once that was done, they continue walking into town until they had reached this place called Spores Café where they shared their lunch date. After ordering, they went outside to enjoy their lunch. Luigi was having the Roast Shroom Dish and a Shroom Shake while Wendy had a Koopa Pilaf and a Mixed Shake.
"So, how's your day going?" Luigi asked.
"Pretty good, actually," Wendy replies "I saw Koren, Kohana, and Goombaline today,"
"Oh, I thought you weren't talking to them anymore?"
"I wasn't; they came to me."
"And what they say?"
"They apologize for their behavior and how they've treated me."
"And did you forgive them?"
She nodded. "Yeah; like you said, they were only following Pompey's orders. It's not my fault they need someone to lead them."
Luigi chuckled before asking again. "Speaking of Pompey, have you heard from her lately?"
Wendy snorted. "Nope, and I don't plan to either."
Luigi frowned. "Why were you friends with her to begin with? I mean was she always like that?"
She shook her head. "No, not always; she was completely different when we younger…. It's a long story."
"Well, I'm a good listener." Luigi said. "And until we part ways later on, I'm all yours for the day."
Wendy thought about it for a moment before sighing in defeat. "Fine... To make a long story short, she used to be my oldest and best friend from the orphanage."
"Orphanage…?" Luigi blinked. "So wait, does that mean you and the others…"
She nodded. "Yup, we're not really King Daddy's children; only Bowser Junior is his real son. Only a few of the Koopalings are actually related to each other."
"Well, I could have figured that out." Luigi mumbled.
This wasn't really anything new to him. Since Bowser Junior's appearance, the role of the Koopalings had remained unknown. Everyone thought they were Bowser's kids; the Koopa King even said so himself. But when he announced Bowser Junior to be his heir to the throne, despite being the youngest out of eight kids, it wouldn't surprise Luigi that he had lied about their relations. Although; it still left some unanswered questions – questions he could ask about later. (2)
"So happened?"
"I got adopted of course, me and my brothers. Pompey, on the other hand, never got that lucky."
Wendy cast her head down. "I guess you can call it sad. We used to do everything together, we were more than just best friends; we were like sisters."
"Until Bowser adopted you..."
She nodded. "King Dad was looking for koopa of his species, like me and the others. There are not a lot of us, but we're typically the leaders of the Koopa race because of our strength and special abilities."
Luigi nodded in understanding. He had notice the difference between her family and the other Koopa species. While a simple jump on the head is enough to defeat the average koopa, it takes more than that when it comes to the Koopalings and Bowser. Not only that, but they also have a tendency to survive dangerous falls which would have probably ended a normal being.
"Anyways," Wendy continued. "Pompey became jealous that I got crown princess and was living the royal life while she was left to rot in the orphanage. We stop talking around the time I first met you and your brother. Since then, we lost contact of each other until six years ago, we meet up again. At first, everything seemed fine. We talked, made up, and we became best friends again. But eventually, she started to basically turn on me. Now, she just spent most of her time trying to prove to everybody that she's better than me." (3)
"But it wasn't your fault that Bowser picked you; it was unavoidable."
Wendy scoffed. "Yeah, well, try telling her that."
Luigi didn't say anything and focus back on his lunch. Wendy seemed a bit upset right now so he was giving her some time to cool off before asking her anything else. For several minutes, they ate in silence. Wendy down the rest of her Mixed Shake and scowled at how quickly it was gone.
"This shake is too small," she complained.
"Here, I'll get you another one."
Luigi stood up from his chair and went back inside to buy Wendy another drink. Wendy focused back on her lunch as she waits for his return.
"Well, hello good-looking,"
Wendy pause mid-bite and turn to the voice who said that. Standing before her was an extremely tall and skinny man wearing a purple undershirt under black overalls, orange elf-like shoes, white gloves, and a purple cap with an upside down "L" symbol. He has short brown hair, large pink nose, a thin mustache which is straight and points up at the edge, and gray eyes surrounded by light blue rings. Wendy raised an eyebrow and sat up in her seat.
"And you are?"
The man flashes a cheesy grin which made her groan in annoyance. "The name's Waluigi, my Lady; and I must say, you are a sight for sore eyes," (4)
Wendy rolled her eyes. "Thanks... I think,"
The man smirked and lean against the table, "So, Lady Fettuccine, is it? How's about the two of us get together and find some place more... private."
Wendy shivered at the thought of that. "Sorry, Waluigi, but I'm spoken for,"
He shrugged. "Doesn't matter; you can always ditch him." He leans closer to her. "Trust me, my Lady; you're in better hands."
Wendy pushes the taller man away. "Thanks but I think I'll pass,"
She turns back to her lunch and tried to ignore the purple man; however, Waluigi continues to linger around her. He wasn't one to give up that easy.
"Ah, come on, baby; don't be like that," he said "What do that guy got that I don't?"
"Well, for one thing, he has some meat on his bone. And two, he knows how to take a hint." Wendy answered. "You, however, are a walking stick figure. And like all stick figures you lack the brain to think. Now beat it Skinny, I'm having lunch and that pink thing on your face is making it less appealing."
Waluigi scowled her for her insults but then smirked. "Oh, I get it. You're paying hard to get, aren't ya? Alright then; I don't mind a challenge."
"She said to leave her alone, Waluigi,"
Waluigi blinked and looked behind him. Luigi stood behind him, staring at him with a heated glare as he held Wendy's drink in his hand. Waluigi sneer and turn to face his shorter rival.
"Well, well, if it isn't Mario's loser younger brother, Eyeballs," he said.
"What are you doing here, Waluigi? Shouldn't you be out making Bob-ombs to terrorize people with?"
Waluigi smirk and cross his arms. "Actually, I was…until I heard you got yourself a new girlfriend. I found it hard enough to believe that you managed to get one girlfriend, much less a princess. But when I heard about this new one, I just had to see it for myself."
He glances over at Wendy and gives her his best-looking grin. "And let's just say I do like what I see."
Wendy scoffs in disgust and Luigi came to her defense. "Leave her be, Waluigi; she's not interested."
"Oh please," Waluigi said. "Of course, she's interested; no woman can resist all this."
"If by all this, you mean nothing but a walking skeleton, then yeah – no woman can resist that," Wendy stood up from her seat and dusts herself off. "Luigi, can we go? I've suddenly lost my appetite."
Luigi nodded and hands her the Mixed Shake as they got ready to leave. Waluigi, however, was reluctant to let them go. He stood in their path preventing them from going anywhere.
"Just where do you think you're going?"
"To find some place more private." Wendy answered.
He sneered. "Well, Eyeballs could go but you little Lady are staying with me."
Luigi narrowed his eyes and stood in front of Wendy protectively. "I'm not leaving here without her, Waluigi."
Waluigi smirked. "Then I guess you're not leaving at all."
The green plumber growled and would have fought his way through his much taller cousin if Wendy hadn't spoken up.
"You know what, its fine," she said, drinking her Mixed Shake.
Luigi turn to her surprise. Waluigi smiled as if he had won something. "It is?"
Wendy nodded. "Sure; if he just wants to stand there watch us kissing all day then fine, be our guest. I got no problem with that."
Luigi blush at the idea of having someone watch them while Waluigi looked disgusted at the mere thought of that. "Gash, gross; I didn't come here just to watch greenie face lip. I came here to some face lips of my own."
"Well, maybe if you were nicer, better looking, and treated women with some more respect; then maybe, just maybe, you might get someone to face lip with you. If not, you're struck to just watching because I'm ready to start now."
Waluigi growled and left before they could even begin, stomping away like spoiled brat. Luigi smiled.
"Nice bluffing; normally Waluigi won't let things go without a fight."
Wendy raised an eyebrow. "Who's bluffing? I meant what I said about kissing you, with or without an audience."
"Oh," Luigi's face reddened. "In that case... we better get going."
They toss away the rest of their lunch and headed back to their spot under the tree where they – as promise – spent about an hour or two kissing with affection before parting ways soon after.

Ending Note:
(1) - Wendy is wearing the same outfit she wore in the show.
(2) - Ever since Bowser Jr. appeared, Nintendo (or whoever is in charge of the Mario series) never really explained the role of the Koopalings. They're always leaving holes so I'm guessing the Koopalings are orphans.
(3) - We also learn the history between Wendy and Pompey. Best friends, possibly foster sisters turn enemies all because one of them got adopted. This idea actually came from Rush Hour 3.
(4) - I have nothing against Waluigi. On one hand, he and Luigi are the same in the fact that their popular and fame is lesser known. And on the other hand, he's a bad guy and often bothers Luigi. So, I'm a neutral party when it comes to him.
