Authors note:
Sorry people, I just have a very busy schedule right now. Hope you enjoy though! ;)
...
"Emma not so fast, you know I'm not that quick anymore, dear." Regina sighed as she gave the shopping cart a firm push to follow the blonde throughout the grocery store.
Emma chuckled quietly and she threw a box of fruit loops in the cart.
"Oh not a chance in hell, dear." Regina said and bent over as far as her seven months pregnant belly would allow her to and she grabbed the box and pushed it in Emma's arms again. "I may have asked you to go grocery shopping with me- oh wait, actually you invited yourself." Regina mocked with a grin. "But I will not let you poison my child with such sugary treats."
"Oh come on, Regina." Emma whined with a smile as she poked out her bottom lip. "These are delicious and I'm sure Henry would be okay with eating this just this once."
"He's four and I'm his mother, so no, there will be no such sugary treats for Henry." Regina said firmly and reached for a bag of oranges.
"Fine." Emma sighed dramatically and put the box back where she found it. "Then what else do you need, I am only here to serve you with whatever you can't reach, Your Majesty." The blonde mocked and held in the chuckle when Regina turned and glared at her through narrowed eyelids.
"Well, deputy, I need spinach and chocolate." Regina snapped as she steered the cart to the left.
"Is there a specific brand you require for your craving because I'm guessing the chocolate isn't for Henry." Emma smiled smugly.
"Oh do shut up, dear." Regina grumbled.
...
"Can you get that, dear, then I'll open the front door." Regina smiled and pointed at the open trunk where the bags of groceries were neatly placed next to each other in the back of Regina's sleek Mercedes. She noticed Emma's eye roll and let out a quiet chuckle. "And then I'll maybe even think about inviting you to dinner tonight. I'm making lasagna."
Emma's hopeful look caused a strange kind of warmth to spread throughout her chest and settle in her heart. Regina couldn't deny that the expression was extremely adorable.
"Alright, on it." Emma grinned and dove down into the trunk, grabbing both the grocery bags and carefully balancing them in both her arms as Regina closed the trunk with a soft click.
Emma quickly followed the brunette towards the door, hoping to god that she wouldn't drop anything. If she did, she could surely forget about getting that dinner with Regina and Henry tonight, and that would truly be a shame because one could only have so much of Granny's burgers or Mary Margaret's homemade vegetable pies. Yeah, turned out the pixie haired teacher wasn't a big fan of meat, and let that be just the thing Emma could not live without.
But she wouldn't complain. At least now she slept in a bed instead of the unforgiving backseat of her yellow bug.
But this home cooked meal Regina was offering her, would certainly be appreciated.
"Thank you, dear. You can put them down on the counter." Regina said with a smile and led the blonde Deputy towards the kitchen. She pointed one lean finger towards the granite countertop that covered the cooking island.
"You got it." Emma said and let out a relieved breath when both of the brown paper grocery bags were safely sitting on the countertop. "So, you think this has earned me some of your delicious lasagna?" She asked with a grin, her eyes sparkling mischievously.
Of course Regina could easily say no, she could easily refuse the blonde deputy that had become her friend. But what good would that do when Regina actually liked the company the blonde brought her. She had finally admitted to herself that Emma was a nice person to be around, so why would she refuse?
And so, she didn't.
"Yes, Emma. I think this has indeed earned you some of my lasagna." Regina grinned as she dropped her purse down on one of the chairs at the breakfast bar and threw her keys on the countertop. "I think Henry would like to talk to someone who actually knows the difference between Batman and Superman." Regina shot the blonde a sly look and moved to grab the eggs out of one of the bags.
Emma chuckled at the notion. She had actually started to get somewhat attached at the small boy who looked so very much like his father. The last time she was here she had told the boy that she too was a fan of comics, and ever since she'd dropped that particular bomb, Henry had talked her ear off about all kinds of different heroes.
"Yeah, that'll be nice." She smiled and leaned against the counter. Emma couldn't help but let her eyes wander, Regina was putting the groceries away with the kind of grace she was sure no seven months pregnant woman could have. But then again, this was Regina Mills she was talking about. The brunette would have surely been a Queen in another life.
But the cat like grace wasn't the only thing that was catching Emma's green eyes. No, certainly not. Regina had her back towards Emma and the blonde could see the muscles flexing in the brunette's back when Regina stood up on the toes of her four inch heels - yes, the mayor was still wearing those - and reached out to place a box of crackers on the highest shelf in the cupboard.
The mayor was curvy, everyone with eyes could notice that, and Emma was sure that it was not all because of her pregnancy. And so the Deputy found her eyes glued to the brunette's backside as Regina dropped back down on her heels and instead leaned down slightly to open another cupboard.
God that ass was definitely from heaven, she thought with a grin. The blonde was so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice the brunette in question turning around.
"Something funny, dear?" Regina asked with a smile as she noticed to grin that was spread across Emma's face. Of course she'd felt and seen the way Emma was staring at her behind. It was hard not to notice. But Regina hadn't expected to feel so... dare she say it - aroused at the thought of Emma checking her out like that.
No she absolutely hadn't expected that. And so she just pushed the feeling away, telling herself that it were just her hormones acting up again. Sex wasn't something she was getting these days and yet it seemed like it was the only thing her body was craving right now.
That and cookie dough ice cream.
Definitely cookie dough ice cream.
Emma awkwardly scraped her throat as her cheeks turned a light pink. "No." She almost choked out.
"Thought so." Regina grinned. "How about we get that lasagna started?"
...
"Oh my god, this is delicious." Emma almost moaned as she put another forkful of the Italian dish in her awaiting mouth.
Regina ignored the shot of heat in her lower abdomen and instead focused on cutting Henry's portion in easily chewable bites.
"Thank you dear, I'm glad you are enjoying it." Regina smiled and glanced up at the blonde who was currently chewing a bite with her eyes closed.
"Mommy's a reawy good cook." Henry chimed in and impatiently waited until his mother was done with his food.
"Thank you, sweetheart." Regina said with a warm smile before she kissed the boy on his head and placed his plate in front of him. Henry immediately began eating with a happy smile on his face.
"Seriously, Regina, do you have a secret ingredient or something?" Emma questioned as she finally opened her eyes again. "Maybe it's magic, do you have a basement with a big Wicca star thingy?"
Regina let out a rich laugh coming from deep within her throat as she shook her head slightly. "No, I can't tell you that I have, dear. As for a secret ingredient, just some red pepper flakes I guess. It gives it some kick." Regina looked at her with an amused expression as she reached over to grab her own portion of lasagna.
"Yeah and a kick it is, I can seriously kiss you right now, woman." Emma said before she could think about what she was saying.
And suddenly the teasing, joking atmosphere turned tense and immensely awkward.
"I- I... I didn't mean it like that. It's just a... Uhm." Emma stammered as she let go of her knife and fork and the silverware clattered on the plate with an obnoxiously loud echo.
Regina scraped her throat and shook her head. "It's alright, I... uhm, I understand, dear." Regina said awkwardly, trying not to think about how her immediate response would have been; 'then why don't you?'.
...
"Henry is out like a light." Emma said as she looked at the small boy sprawled out on the couch. She placed the dirty plates on the granite countertop and grabbed the towel so she could help dry off.
"Yes, he usually is at seven." Regina said with distant smile as maternal love filled her deep hazel brown eyes.
"So... uhm." Emma tried to say the words but they wouldn't come. She reached out, grabbed a wet plate and started to dry it with harsher movements than were necessary. "About what I said... earlier, I mean. What I was trying to say it that-"
"Don't worry Emma, I know what you meant." Regina reassured as she glanced at the blonde Deputy who was standing next to her, staring down at the now semi-dry plate. "So there is no need to explain yourself."
"Yeah, but that's just the thing." Emma continued and finally looked up to meet Regina's gaze. "I do want to explain- I really do."
Regina didn't say anything, she just lowered the plate she had been holding back into the water and locked eyes with the blonde, confusion forcing her eyebrows to furrow. "What do you mean, dear?"
Come on, Emma, she thought to herself. Now was the chance to do what she had wanted to do from the moment she first saw the beautiful brunette standing in her doorway. From the moment that soft and adorable small hand connected with her cheek with deceiving strength.
And so she did.
Regina didn't know what to do when she saw the blonde's eyes focus on her lips and lean in. Should she stay where she was? Should she push the Deputy away even though deep in her heart she felt that she actually didn't even want to stop this?
But she didn't even have to make that decision because the moment Emma's thin lips touched her own, she was lost. Regina felt Emma's arms circle her waist, pulling body closer towards Emma's muscular one as much as her stomach would allow. As if on instinct Regina wrapped her arms around the Deputy's neck, applying more pressure with her lips and releasing a soft moan when she felt Emma's tongue against her bottom lip. Running over the dark red and supple flesh.
And just like that the moment was ruined by a harsh kick that had Regina almost gasping in pain and Emma jumping back with a confused and surprised expression.
"Was that...?" Emma's voice trailed off as she tried to get her breathing back under control.
"Yes." Regina said through gritted teeth as another sharp kick was delivered to her kidney. Her hand firmly rubbed her belly as Regina tried to sooth the little girl inside of her. But it didn't help, Regina could still feel the tiny feet slamming into her tender flesh.
"Well, that is... unfortunate."
"Tell me about it." Regina huffed and gasped again, but the painful sound quickly turned into a rich laugh.
"Regina?" Emma asked carefully as she watched how the mayor leaned against the kitchen counter, one hand on her stomach as her chest moved up in down in sync with her laughter. "Everything alright?"
"Yes, dear." Regina said between laughs and she smiled at the blonde. "I just found it really typical that this has to happen now, and to us."
"Yeah." Emma said and allowed herself a chuckle too. Because Regina was right, it was typical that right when Emma was kissing the woman she had been fantasizing about since the moment she had met her, said woman's baby had decided to kick not only Regina, but Emma too. "You're absolutely right."
Apparently the baby didn't approve of her just yet, but Emma was going to make sure that by the time this little girl was born, she more then did.
...
Yay, they kissed! ;) Leave a review, people!
