...

"Out off the fucking way!" Emma yelled, honking like crazy again and again and if Emma wasn't the police herself, Regina would have been worried they would get a ticket.

"Really, Emma." Regina scolded, her fingers white from the force she used to grab the dashboard. "This is absolutely not the time to get into an accident, dear."

"It was his fault!" Emma yelled back before wincing when she realized how loud her voice actually was. "Sorry." She lamely apologized. "I just like, really need to get you to the hospital."

"Still, you don't have to break every speed limit this town knows, Emma." Regina tried to smile comfortingly, but it quickly turned into a grimace once another contraction started to make itself present. Her palm was over her stomach, feeling the muscles starting to tighten, before releasing only to once again tighten not even ten seconds later. The muscle movements were accompanied with low moans as Regina squeezed her eyes shut.

Emma's face crumbled into an expression of intense worry as she let go of the gear-control and instead placed her hand over Regina's. "Just breathe, honey." She said carefully and took a quick look at the road again to make sure the bushes stayed safe from her wreck less driving. "We're almost there."

The tension could literally be felt as the contraction seemed to go on and on. All the while Emma could do nothing but whisper encouraging words.

"It has passed." Regina finally panted out after what felt like an hour maybe even two. The brunette's lips were quivering and her hands were shaking, a telltale sign Emma knew meant she was hurting.

"Almost there." She whispered again, though it wasn't just said for Regina this time.

Almost there, her fingers tightened around the wheel as she made a sharp turn to the left.

Storybrooke General Hospital, 1 mile.

...

"I can't believe we actually bought it." Regina chuckled to herself as she stepped into the large kitchen. They'd just been given the keys to the house they'd just bought. Their house. The words sounded strange yet amazing even in her head.

It would be their home, the place where they would raise the child that was currently already growing inside of her and maybe even the children they would have in the future.

"Well, we did and there's no turning back now so you better believe it, sweetheart." Peter smiled, wrapping his arms around her from behind and resting his hands on small bulge of her stomach. "Our house, for you, me and our little girl." She could feel his smile as he placed a kiss on her shoulder.

"Girl? How come you're so sure?" Regina asked softly, turning in his arms and wrapping her own around his neck.

"Just a feeling." He shrugged, placing a kiss on his wife's lips. "Why, you don't think it's a girl?"

"I'm leaning more towards boy." Regina's smile was bright, her pearly white teeth showing as she leaned forward to kiss his cheek. "Wouldn't that be nice? Our own little Henry."

...

"Everything is going well, Regina." Dr. Lock, her OB/GYN, said with a comforting smile as she pulled the blanket back over Regina's legs. "I would say you are at five centimeters already."

"Already?" Regina's undertone was sarcastic as she dropped her head back in the fluffy pillow. "Do you have any idea how long this has been going on?"

With a pat on the knee, Dr. Lock slowly nodded. "I understand you're tired, Regina." Her voice was filled with sympathy she'd most likely perfected over the years. "And I understand it's painful, but just think about the little girl you will be holding within the next couple of hours. It will all be worth it."

And with yet another comforting smile, she left the room, promising she would come back within the hour.

Once the light wooden door was closed, Regina let out a loud sigh as she turned her head towards the nervous blonde that was sitting in the chair next to the bed. She smiled tiredly and picked at the large black band that was wrapped around her stomach.

"Can I get you something?" Emma said softly, already standing up.

"No." Regina shook her head. "Just- can you hold my hand please?" Her tanned hand moved away from the band and reached out for Emma.

"You never have to ask that, Regina." Emma smiled, grabbing the hand and squeezing softly. Letting her know she was there.

...

"Oh my god, that hurts."

Emma winced, gritting her teeth as Regina was squeezing her hand to mush. She wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow her fingers were stiff and unable to move.

Another squeeze that was even harder and Emma again winced, thinking this one might be to teach her a lesson or something.

Yeah, she would definitely be unable to use them for at least a week.

"Oh, you think that hurts?!" Regina panted, snapping her head to the side and shooting Emma a look that obviously said 'shut up' as she released the blonde's hand and instead grabbed the iron railing of the hospital bed she was lying on. "Are you fucking kidding me right now?!"

Emma knew Regina was really hurting, like excrutiating pain kind of hurting, when she was resorting to cursing. A thing she had called pedestrian.

Emma offered a small smile as apology but before Regina could even think about releasing another pointy barb, the next contraction already took over most of her coherent thoughts.

"I can almost see the baby's head, Regina." Dr. Lock smiled, trying to give strength when she knew out of experience, that there was absolutely none. "The finish line is in sight."

Scoffing, moaning and cursing was all Regina could do to answer the kind doctor. Really, she was in no mood for false hope. And that was exactly what the doctor was offering up. Regina knew this was going to take at least another half an hour, if she was lucky, twenty minutes.

"Just try to breathe through it, Regina." Emma said softly in the caring tone she had only reserved for Henry up until now, but knew Regina needed it for it was obvious the brunette was exhausted. She brought their linked hands up towards her face and softly kissed Regina's hand. The loin was red and stiff, a result of the harsh squeezing that had been the only thing to help Regina through the pain. Her hand didn't look any better for that matter, but Emma would not complain.

Brown eyes were filled with exhaustion and pain as they blinked up at the blonde. The moister that filled Regina's eyes collected itself in the corner and became a pained tear that rolled down her rosy cheeks. "I can take this much longer, Emma." The words were soft and Emma had to strain to catch them. "I'm so tired." A full bottom lip started to quiver as Regina was on the verge of breaking down."

"I know, sweetheart." Emma smiled softly, wiping a tear away with the thumb of her free hand. "I know you are, but you can do this. You're strong, I know you can make it and when it's all over, you'll have a perfect little girl lying in your arms." Emma leaned forward, placing a soft kiss on Regina's plump lips. "Can you picture her, Regina? I bet she looks just like you." Her finger trailed the brunette's cheek, softly stroking the heated, soft skin. "A little rosebud mouth, beautiful dark brown eyes and soft dark hair. She'll be absolutely beautiful."

Regina blinked back tears, a small smile tugging at her lips before it immediately vanished as her muscles started to contract again. She squeezed Emma hand tightly with one of her own as her other hand gripped the iron railing of the bed.

"Damn it." The curse left her between a clenched jaw and sweat dripped down the sides of her head, escaping her dark hard that had been pulled back in a messy ponytail (Emma was thanking the gods for giving her the sense to keep a hair tie around her wrist at all times).

Emma's emerald eyes looked up at the doctor who was busy doing god knows what between Regina's legs as the contraction pushed the baby further down the brunette's pelvis.

"Alright, with the next contraction give me a big push, can you do that Regina?" Dr. Lock asked, looking up from whatever she was doing and smiling.

No words could form in her aching throat so Regina just nodded, looking up into Emma's eyes.

"Alright."

Emma smiled, wiping the sweat from Regina's forehead with a cloth as she kissed the brunette's temple, salty sweat on her lips but Emma couldn't care less. She was almost here, their baby girl was almost here.

The contraction came almost as soon as the last one had stopped, giving Regina little room to breathe, but the brunette still pushed with all she had. Her upper body moved off the pillows as she tightened her muscles and the blood was pounding in her ears.

"Good." This time the doctor didn't even look up, too busy, Emma guessed as she felt the blood leave her fingertips. "The head is clear." The words were said more to the nurses than to the couple but Emma still felt her heart jump with joy.

Regina was panting as she dropped herself back in the pillow, whimpering in pain as she squeezed her eyes shut tightly.

"Did you hear that? She's almost here, Regina." Emma whispered against the brunette's temple and placed another kiss there. By the way her hand was being squeezed again, Emma knew another contraction was fast approaching.

Emma could see the vain in Regina's forehead bulging and her jaw clenching and Emma feared they might break. A pair of scissors was handed to Dr. Lock and she tried not to think about what the woman was doing down there.

With a final whimper leaving the brunette lips, Regina dropped down on the bed, exhausted but somehow still alert as the first cries filled the room.

The grip on Emma's hand released and the blonde was immediately on her feet, trying to get a glimpse of the newborn girl.

"Is she alright?" Regina's voice was hoarse tired as she tried to move up the bed.

Dr. Lock turned around with a smile. The little girl in her arms was red and squealing and so, so beautiful, at least that's what Emma thought as the doctor reassured them and placed the child on Regina's chest.

Tears filled her eyes as Regina was finally able to touch the little girl that had been growing inside of her for nine months, the little girl she'd loved from the first moment she found out about her existence.

"Hi there." Her voice shook with emotion as she placed her index finger on the child's cheek and softly stroked. "I've been waiting on you, sweetheart."

The girl looked up with dark brown eyes and Emma had been right (for once, Regina thought with an internal chuckle), the girl looked exactly like her, a little replica of herself. The complete opposite if how Henry had looked when he'd been placed in her arms for the first time. He had been mostly Peter, getting some of her features (though he mostly had her characteristics) as he'd grown older.

Emma bit her bottom lip, leaning over and placing a kiss on Regina's head. "I told you so, didn't I?" She said with a grin. "She looks exactly like you. Just as beautiful."

Regina looked up and placed a kiss on the blonde's lips. "She does, doesn't she?" She turned to her- no, their daughter again and softly nudged her. "You're beautiful, aren't you, little Amelia?"
