Lysa's POV
How dare they, how dare they, she thought, they had already taken her husband away and now they had sent an arrest warrant for her true beloved Petyr. Only herself and her precious son Robert knew that Petyr was hiding here, in the Eyrie and she had been secretly married to Petyr. Now the new king had the nerve to demand that she step down as ruler of the Vale and had secretly sent men to Petyr's Fingers Seat to arrest him without her knowledge. She could consider that an act of war.
Many Lords had been urging her to go to King's Landing and swear fealty, including House Royce, House Waynwood, House Hunter, House Redfort and House Belmore. They said that Kingdoms were finally being brought back together and the Lannisters were not in control any longer. Even though that was true she didn't trust them, she had just received news that her sister had been killed. No way was she or her son leaving the safety of the Eyrie. She would stay here with her beloved Petyr as he had suggested.
Sure they had offered her son back the Tile of Warden of the East, but he was already the True Warden of the East, she knew that, all the Vale Lords knew that, a piece of paper didn't matter.
Now the Lords declarant, as they were calling themselves wanted to meet with her to discuss why she was not going back with Ser Robar Royce of the Kingsguard to declare fealty or why she was not sending troops to help settle the second Greyjoy Rebellion.
They didn't trust her, nor were they willing to obey her without questioning her orders, where were the loyalties, as Petyr suggested the previous night they may need to deal with them. They should be loyal to the true ruler of the Vale Robert Arryn, as her late husband had said before he died, "The seed is strong."
The Lord Declarant along with the keeper of the Gate of Moon and the former Warden of the Vale, Nestor Royce, waited for her in Crescent Chamber, all forming one defiant circle apart from Nestor who stood near the steps waiting for her.
"My Lady, A pleasure to see you, May I present to you're the Lords Declarant," said Nestor Royce doing his best to get on her good side.
"Why are you here, I have already given you my answer, and my answer if final. Our forces stay in the Vale protecting their Liege Lord, the True Ward of the East and Defender of the Vale," she declared defiantly, standing firm at bottom step, not wanting to step down to their level.
"You are disobeying direct orders from the King," argued Lord Royce, going red in the face with frustration.
"Kings change. My son is more important, my late Husband told me so on his death bed, we will stay here and protect him. I will not have my son be put in harm's way like my sister was"
"I was sorry to hear about your sister, she was a lovely lady, but I must remind you of the words of your's and your sister's house, 'Family, Duty, Honour'. Where is your duty and honour towards your dead sister, killed by ironmen, we should be marshalling our forces to go and avenge her. Your Late husband's words and words of House Arryn are "As High as Honour." You are not honouring your son by keeping him here or honouring your people by not swearing fealty to the throne. The combine forces of the seven kingdoms could come down on us if you continue to be so stubborn," Lord Royce countered back.
Before she could answer to that accusation, Lady Waynwood stepped forward, deciding to change the subject before it got out of hand, suggesting "Perhaps it would be best for Lord Robert if he left the Eyrie and explored the Vale, perhaps being fostered at Runestone or at Ironoaks with me."
"No, NO, no one will take my sweet robin from me. Leave now down the path or through the moon door later," she screamed at them madly then stormed up stairs.
She ascended up to the her chambers in The High Halls of the Arryns, where her beloved Petyr was waiting for her.
"My dear Lysa, what is up, you are shaking." Petyr asked, walking over to her as she entered the through the door.
She threw herself into his arms,"They threaten to take my sweet robin away from me, Petyr, don't let them."
"Shush, Don't worry I am here, they won't"
"They also accused me of not caring for my family, of course I care about my family. I was distraught when I heard of my dear sister's death, but we can't send the forces to the Iron Islands, they must remain here to defend my Sweet Robin."
"Of course, but we can protect your family, her daughters are in danger, they are in King's landing, full of cut throats of murderers, let me go and rescue them and bring them here."
"Yes, yes that is a good idea, she would want us to do that, but Petyr you do love me don't you, I killed my husband for you, I married you, when you're a wanted man, Tell me you love me," she begged looking into his eyes and kissing him.
As he got up to leave, he turned back, "Don't worry, I have only ever loved one person," then he walked out leaving her alone.
