"What?",Owen felt his heart stop beating when Izzie said Nathan is his son, he stand from the vent floor, his eyes filled, with trembling voice "what did you say Steven?"
"yes, Nathan is your son, I can assure you that, now, he is dying, I know you must be confuse with this situation, but I need you to brace yourself, your son need you", Izzie can't help her tears, when tell him the truth, but somehow she also feel relief, she know she did the right thing for now.
Owen can't describe his feeling, he just know that he has a son with his love of live, Cristina, he thought he has nobody in this world any more since his mother died, but now, he actually has a son with Cristina and both of them now is dying, he felt his head almost explode, but he know, what he want to do now, he want to meet his son, he run from the vent to PICU, leaving Izzie by herself in the vent.
After take the sterile gown and mask, he enter the PICU, he saw Nathan lay in the bed with ventilator in his throat, he still remember his face, he saw him few times, from the picture that William show to him before, and when he saw him carried by William and Cristina when he visit them in LA few months ago, he just realize, that Nathan has his nose and lips beside his hair and eyes that definitely from his mother, Owen stand beside his bed, he can't hold his tears, while stroking Nathan curly hair, he kissed his forehead, he felt moved, he kissed his son for first time, he really want to hold him tight in his arm, but he can't, Owen take a sit besides Nathan bed, he hold his son tiny hand and kiss it, while his other hand keep stroking Nathan hairs, his tears keep falling, "forgive me, son, this all my fault, please give me a chance to be your father, I love you and I'll doing anything to keep you alive".
Izzie walk by herself from the vent, she watch Owen with Nathan from outside, it break her heart seeing Owen, despite she hate him for all he did to Cristina, but she also can feel how hurt this all for Owen, she give time for Owen with Nathan before talk to Dr Bailey, about the transplantation, she can see Dr Bailey shock face, when she tell her that Owen is Nathan father, Izzie really hope Owen is a perfect donor for the liver transplantation.
Dr Bailey and Izzie walk to PICU, "I'm really sorry for disturb you Dr Hunt, but I need running some test to you to check are you a perfect donor for Nathan, the sooner we know, it's better", Owen wake from his own world with his son, he soon stand from his seat then kiss his son "yes, Dr Bailey, sooner is better".
After running some test, with blood, radiology, and electrocardiogram, Owen wait for the result, he really hope that he'll be perfect donor his son, before back to Nathan room, he finally step in to gallery Cristina operation room, he can see the tension from Derek while operate her, he know that's not a good sign, and then he see Cristina face, his heart full of emotion, for god shake, he love that woman with all his heart, that he will give his life for her, but in same times, he hate her, after found out that she hide his son from him, but on top of that, he hate himself the most, if just he don't hurt Cristina before, he must be life happily with Cristina and Nathan now, he can't stand in gallery for any longer minute, it torture him seeing his love of life is dying, only look at Nathan can composure him for now.
Izzie walk to PICU after get dinner and emotional support from Justin in cafeteria, she just send her husband back home, she really glad that Justin allow her to stay at hospital until Cristina and William surgery is done, she saw Meredith looking at Nathan from outside PICU, she greet her, "hi, Mer".
"Nathan is really handsome boy, she look like Cristina, how is his condition Izzie?", "he need liver transplant Mer, Dr Hunt just running some test for it, I hope he a perfect donor for his son", "what? you say izzie?, Nathan is Cristina and Owen son? But, how? What about William?" Meredith can't hide her confusion, Izzie take a deep breath before answer that, and then Owen comes, he just finish run the test, now, they just wait for the result.
"it's good thing, both of you here, so I can explain the situation, both of you are the important person for Cristina, she love you both so much, she mention that to me before she went to England, while she busy try to start a new life in London, she don't realize that she pregnant, she found it in her ten weeks of pregnancy, she called you Dr Hunt, you are the first person she called, but, your girlfriend pick you phone, so she hung up", "what?, I didn't get that call, I even didn't have girlfriend that time" Owen interrupted with frustration, "I don't need your excuse Dr Hunt, she don't know about that, but she said exactly, woman pick you phone, she must be presume that your girlfriend, beside you already kick her out of your life, what else, she can do?, so please just hear me out, " Izzie snap to him.
" She has plan to terminate the baby, because she can't through this alone, and then she tell me, she doesn't has person anymore, and now actual person is growth inside of her, make her realize the pregnancy is wonderful thing for her, so she decided to keep the baby, she stay in London until her five month pregnancy, then she move back to his mother house in Los Angeles, because she can't handle this pregnancy alone, she work in same hospital with me and William, you know how big Cristina passion about surgery, she sometime forget that she has baby in her womb, so William and I, always remind and take care of her while she in hospital, we are best friend, and William develop some feeling to her, but Cristina need time to get over you, Dr Hunt, then when she take maternal leave at home, she fell on the stair, we almost lose both of them, and thank god, they survive, and since Nathan born they get closer, and when Nathan six months old, Cristina and William getting married, they are happy family, until few days ago, Cristina back to Seattle to attend my wedding, and this afternoon the accident happ..", then Izzie phone ring, she look to her phone, it's call from overseas, she pick the phone.
"Hello, Helen , thank god you called, I'm really sorry but Cristina, William and Nathan get into accident, they all get surgery, but Cristina and William surgery in still operation room, I hope you can soon back to US, Cristina really need you now".
Izzie hung up the phone, she so relieve that the burden in her heart reduce after finally get speak with Helen, she back to face Owen and Meredith, and at same time, Callie walk to them, she look down and tired, "I finish fix her leg, she'll able to walk if she wake up", tears just fall from her eyes, then she just walk away, left the confusion on them.
"What happen with her?", Izzie asked with confusion, then Derek come, he looks to his wife eyes, he can see the anger, hurt and sadness in same time, "Cristina brain has severe damages, I try to fix the best I can, now all we can do just wait for miracles, I'll put her in unconscious, so we hope her brain heal by itself,", they all know what that's mean, it's good news that Cristina alive but it also bad news, because there is no guarantee that Cristina will wake up in near future, they so devastated with the news.
Derek walk to his wife, he hug her tight, he know that Meredith hate him so much, but he also knew that she really need him right now, she almost lose one of the important person in her life, Meredith let her tears on her husband chest.
Dr Bailey come with Owen test result, she can see all person is devastated, she wonder why, because she saw Cristina taken by the nurse before to ICU, she so happy that Cristina survive, but seeing the atmosphere in there looks like it's not a good news, she still hope that best for Cristina, she bring the good news, that she hope can break the tense.
"Dr Hunt, I just get the result, you can donor your liver for Nathan, but your blood pressure is little low, I hope you can have a good rest tonight, so you in perfect condition for surgery tomorrow"
Owen who just devastated with Cristina condition, feel relief that he can help his son, all of person in there also relief, this one of good news after this accident, Meredith and Derek ask themselves to pick up Bailey from day care, leave Izzie and Owen, "give me your phone Dr Hunt" she ask, then she send him a picture of Nathan two days ago in her wedding day, Nathan smile brightly in his black tuxedo, she give back his phone, "that's Nathan picture two days ago, you have to take rest tonight Dr Hunt, so you can give your son smile back, Cristina and Nathan is live and stable for now, I'll be with them tonight, you don't have to worry".
Owen take his phone and look at the most beautiful boy he ever seen, and that is his own son, it took his breath away look at Nathan smile, he knew the best he can now is to take rest follow what Izzie advise, "all right, Steven, thank you so much, promise me you'll call me if anything happen to them", "yes, I promises Dr Hunt" she assure him.
Izzie sit in waiting room, Dr Bailey bring her a coffee, take a sit beside her, "you must be so tired Izzie", Izzie give her a warm smile, "I did Dr Bailey, but Cristina need me", "never in my mind that you both become close Izzie, base how Cristina treat you for this long", Izzie laughing, "Cristina is a good friend Dr Bailey, turn out I'm the one by her side when she had a hard time, and she also the one by my side when I through my cancer, despite we never really close when I'm in Seattle grace hospital, she knew me, and I knew her, that a foundation of our friendship"
"well I'm happy that Cristina has you for this long, because I know, she been through a hard time before leave this hospital", then Dr Webber and Shane, walk to them, Izzie suddenly stand from her seat, "how William condition Dr Webber?, Izzie asked, "we almost lose him, but he is a fighter, he'll be fine Izzie", Izzie so relief that William is gonna be fine.
Dr Bailey offer Izzie to take rest in on-call room hospital, because she can see how exhausted her physically and mentally since this afternoon.
Owen lay in bed on-call room, he look at Nathan picture in his phone and take Cristina picture from his wallet, he kisses the both picture, he was so tired, his emotional drained after the accident and found that he has son with Cristina, he soon fall asleep, and get beautiful dream. He wake up because he feel someone caress his face, he open his eyes, he watch Cristina smile to him, then showered his face with kisses, he kiss her lip passionately and take her into his embraces, and bury his face in her curly hair, he really miss her in his arm, then a small feet walk to their bed, "mommy, daddy" Nathan with his messy hair, walk them, Cristina break their hug, then take Nathan to her arm, he look at two most beautiful creature in the world, Cristina and Nathan, he doesn't need anything in the world beside them, he hold them both in his big arm, he felt complete.
