Chapter 38:
Caught

...

The next day came and Luigi thought it will be a good time to head back home. Although he didn't plan on staying at the castle for long, he did have a great time. And now that he had Bowser's approval, he was free to visit the castle anytime he pleases.

At this moment, he and Wendy were at their tree. The pink koopa had already transformed him back to his real form and now they were getting ready to part ways for the day.

"You sure you don't want to stay for a little longer?" Wendy asked. "Daddy won't mind, you're practically one of us now."

Luigi shock his head. "No, I already stayed longer than I planned. Mario and the others are probably worried about me." He said. "But if you want, I can take you out tomorrow. Just you and me,"

Wendy smiled at that idea. "It's a date."

She leans in and kisses him right on the lips. Luigi leans forward and kiss her back. They would have stayed like that for several minutes if they haven't heard a rustling sound from some nearby bushes. They parted and turn to the source of the noise. Luigi gestured Wendy to stay behind him as he stood to face whatever was behind the shrubbery.

"Is someone there?" he called out, hoping it was just a couple of forest animals.

The greenery shook some more and Luigi grew more tense. Finally, the figure emerged from hiding and come out into the opening.

"Well, well, if it isn't da green blumber, I haven't seen you in a while."

Luigi gasped. "Roy!"

At the mention of his name, Wendy gasped and hid behind the green plumber, hoping he was large enough to shelter her from her brother's line of vision. True to his words, it was Roy. His pink head was the first to show before the rest of his body come to view. He had a smug look on his face, like he just found something fun for him to do. His glasses were missing, revealing a pair of blue eyes similar to Wendy's

"W-What are you doing here?" Luigi asked. He back away slightly as he tries to keep Wendy out of sight.

Roy smirked and took a step forward. "I was lookin' fo' da brat dat took my glasses. But seein' you here, I guess I can take a minute ta…"

His gaze landed on the koopa hiding behind the green hero. His eyes narrowed for a better look before widen once he realize who it was.

"What da…Wendy, is dat you?"

The pink koopa flinched when her name was called. Slowly, she came out from behind Luigi and smiled nervously to her older brother.

"Uhm, hey there, Roy, w-what are you going here?"

Roy scoffed. "What am I doin' here? Forget what am I doin' here, what are you goin' here? I thought you were out wit' Kasanova. What are you doin' wit dis no good plumber?"

Wendy played with her talons anxiously. "Well, you see… it's kind of complicated"

He frowned. "How exactly is dis complicated?"

"The thing is, Luigi and I… are dating,"

Back at Toad Town

An old green Toad was standing outside a hardware store looking some floor tiles out on display. The store door opened and the store owner came outside to greet his longtime customer.

"Why, hello there, Toadblatt; how is things back home?"

The green toad, Toadblatt, turned and shook the other toad's hand. "Excellent, Toadsmith, thanks for asking,"

"So what can I do for you?"

"Well, the wife and I have been thinking about redoing the bathroom so I came by to see if…"

~ WHAT! ~

Both Toads jumps and looked around. The voice sounded far and had traveled air. It was so loud in fact it had actually reach its way through town.

"What in the world was that?" said Toadsmith.

"Don't know, but whatever it was sound shock and angry." said Toadblatt.

Toadsmith chuckled. "I could only imagine who or what could have caused it."

Back at the Tree

"What!"

Both Luigi and Wendy had to cover their ears at the volume of Roy's scream. The purple koopa was so loud; the inhabitants back at Town Toad could hear him screaming. Roy's face was red, literally from anger.

"Wendy Ora Koopa, are you crazy?" He yelled. "You can't be datin' dis plumber!"

"Roy please, calm down,"

"I am not doin' ta calm down." He said heatedly. "My baby sister, my only sister, is goin' out wit' our enemy! If Bowser finds out about dis, he'll…"

"Hey Roy," yelled a voice in the bushes. "Where are you?"

Roy froze when he heard someone called his name. Luigi and Wendy looked around in confusion as the voice yelled out his name again. He cursed.

"Who's that?" Wendy asked curiously.

"No one important,"

"It sounds like a girl," Luigi said.

Roy shot him a hate glare. "Stay out o' dis, Pipehead! Don't think fo' a second I won't beat your ass fo' messin' wit' my sister. When I get my hands on you, I'm gotta..."

"There you are,"

All three of them pause when another figure started to came out from behind the bushes. Luigi and Wendy's eyes widen in surprise when they saw that the figure was actually an indigo toadette.

"Gesh, didn't you hear me calling you? I yelled your name out for like three times already." She paused when she saw Luigi and Wendy standing a few feet away. "Opps,"

Luigi blinked; he knew this little toadette. "Kastoadra?"

The indigo toad, Kastoadra, looks over and smiled sheepishly as the green plumber. "Hey, uh, Luigi; I didn't expect to see you here."

Wendy turned to her brother and crosses her arms assumingly. "Roy, who is this?"

Now it was Roy's turn to be under the spotlight. "She...is no body."

"Really?" she snorted disbelief. "Because I find it hard to believe I was just being yelled at by my older brother for sneaking around with the enemy when he's out here doing the same thing."

"Okay first o' all, I'm not sneakin' around." Roy argued. "I was chasin' after her because she stole my glass WHICH I want back!"

Kastoadra smiled guiltily. She pulls out Roy's hot pink glass from behind her dress and offered it back to him. He took it and put it back on, shielding his blue eyes from everyone.

"Second o' all," He continues. "We weren't doin' what you two were probably doin' which has ta stop now."

"Okay, you know what, Roy; I'm not a child" Wendy argued. "I'm nineteen turning twenty in a few months. I'm an adult; you can't keep tell me what to do nor can you tell me who I can or cannot date."

"I can and I will," He walks over to her and grabs her arm. "Come on, we're goin' home,"

"Let me go, Roy," She snarled.

"No," He replies. "You and I need to have a serious talk about this."

Wendy growled and tries to struggle out of her brother's hold. Unfortunately, the older koopa's grip was too firm for her to free herself. She looks back at the plumber with an apologetic and worried look. Luigi frowned. Their secret was discovered and unless Wendy could convince Roy not to tell anyone, especially Bowser, then it was only a matter of time before everyone knows it.

"Uh, excuse me, Luigi,"

Luigi broke out of his dishearten state and look down to the person calling him. Kastoadra was standing next to him. She was confused because she didn't know what was going on or what Roy was talking about.

"If you don't mind me asking," she said. "What exactly is going on here?"

Luigi sigh; he might as well tell her. Better to hear it from him than some made up story posted by the news. He turned, intending to go home and gesture her to follow.

"Come on, I'll tell you on the way."

"Okay, start talkin'," he said. "I want ta know everythin', from the beginnin' ta da end."

Wendy sighs. She knew this was eventually going happen, but she didn't expect it to come so soon or for it to take place like this. She really didn't want the others to find out, Bowser especially. Perhaps, if she could reason with Roy and do what he says, he might be willing to keep it a secret.

"Okay, it's like this,"

"But…how?"

"She used a spell that can transform her into a human." Luigi explains. "It can also be use to transform me into a koopa, which is now I was able to have dinner with her family."

Kastoadra blinked several times and sat back from her seat on the couch. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Luigi, one of the Mushroom Kingdom's sworn protector; was actually dating one of the Koopa King's Koopalings. It was like watching a soap opera, only it was real and 10 times more interesting.

"Wow," she said out of disbelief. "Seriously Luigi, you have gotten yourself in a very... unusual relationship."

Ending Note:

Who suspected Roy was sneaking around with a Toad? This toad, Kastoadra, had been introduced earlier in chapter 26 so it's been a while since we last seen her. Now that her and Roy knows, what will become of our couple? You'll have to wait and see/read in the next chapter.
